writeblr intro!

hello everyone, i'm mina! i'm back on writeblr after a long break, and would love to connect with some fellow writers to discuss wips and writing and all our interests <3

some info on me below!

mina, the person

howdy, my name is mina, i use the pronouns she/her, i'm in my late twenties and from austria

i am currently pursuing a degree in education, and am working full time, so i don't have as much time to spend on writing as i'd like, but what can ya do

my favourite genres to read (and write) are fantasy, sci-fi, and historical fiction; but really, i'll read anything that sounds interesting!

my interests outside of books are a little all over the place lol, and include musicals, horses, linguistics, and formula 1. if any of that vibes with you let's be friends pls!

mina, the writer

i am currently in the worldbuilding + plotting phase of a fantasy wip! it's basically all my fave tropes thrown into a blender: flawed prophecies, questions of identity, religious and political tensions, wholesome romance despite it all. proper intro post for it coming soon!

i also plan on participating in a young storyteller contest this summer - for that, i am drafting a novella about grief and resurrection. (basically: what happens when you don't let the dead be dead in peace?)

when time allows i also write reviews of the books/shows i've watched! and i'm working on a podcast on media literacy with a friend of mine.

all ask games, tag games, and chatting in general are welcome anytime!

trying to motivate myself to be a little more active here, i want to discover some new writeblrs to follow!! feel free to reach out if you wanna!

SETTING: Locklyn Isle

BLURB: Eleanor and Isobelle are sisters, living with their little brother and grandmother on an island that is slowly sinking into the ocean. When suitors arrive for the third time to court Eleanor, old secrets are dredged up, and they must decide if their home is worth saving.

MAIN CHARACTERS:

Eleanor Locklyn: notoriously the ‘most beautiful woman in the world’, having a terrible time of it, really

Isobelle Locklyn: loves her siblings more than anything,

Tiberius Strand: a mysterious prince on a mission that has nothing to do with courting Eleanor

Cordelia Locklyn: Isobelle and Eleanor’s grandmother. Will do anything to protect the island and the Locklyn family’s heritage

Raya Ash, Juno Soren, Oliver Sallow, Mattheo Ransom: various suitors with self-serving motives

May Writing Challenge

This May I want to get back into writing. I’m not at all consistent. I’m at a point where I don’t feel like I can work on bigger things, because I can’t guarantee myself to keep working on it in a week from now. So I will take this month as a training month to get back into the habit of writing. I will do this by writing (or trying to write) 200 words every day. Topic is irrelevant. How great my writing is that day is irrelevant. Just 200 words written down. A habit taking 21 days to form was debunked, it does take a lot longer, but 31 days are a start I would say. These are already 140 words, so 200 words every day are hopefully manageable. You're more than welcome to join me if you like 😊
