Any customizer will tell you about that one model that fought them every step of the way. This Breyer Stablemate Clydesdale Stallion was my challenge in recent months. Prepping wasn't so bad--his seams were easy to remove, etc. But when it came time to primer him? Well, the first time ended up being a bad can of primer, so he and a bunch of other models ended up soaking in Purple Power to remove it. Then the second primer attempt went well--until I dropped him on the ground while the primer was still wet. Time for more Purple Power.
We finally got through the third attempt at primer without incident--or so I thought. About four coats of earth pigments into his black roan paint job, and I made the error every customizer fears: I grabbed the primer instead of the sealant, and didn't notice until he had a fine white mist all over one side.
Thankfully he was going to be roan appaloosa anyway, but I ended up having to paint him darker and more stylized than I originally intended. The accidental primer layer was early enough in the painting process that it's been completely covered over.

Can you draw Torosaurus that has the colors of the Triceratops from Prehistoric Park?
Hey there! Thank you for asking. Normally I don’t do requests, as I’m rather busy and tend not to have time, but hey oh, it’s the festive time o’ year, so you’re in luck! I absolutely loved Prehistoric Park when I was younger, so I very much enjoyed having a go at incorporating those iconic colours and patterns into the design while also making it my own. Anyways, here’s Torosaurus. I hope you like it!
A higher resolution version can be found on my DA stash here.Merry December!

I'm still slowly winnowing down the last of my Vulture Culture art and supplies; these are a couple new things added to the shop! The coyote fur bracelet with red fox claw is something I made a few years ago and somehow it never made it onto Etsy. The pouch is made from a scrap of black-backed jackal fur I found while organizing stuff and things, so I made it the flap for a little pouch I stitched out of scrap deerskin suede.
They're both available at http://thegreenwolf.etsy.com

I really love Breyer's Llywellyn, a traditional scale model of a Welsh Cob/Section D pony. I decided this one would look marvelous in dapple bay (the dapples aren't as stark as the pictures make them look--he's just kind of tough to photograph.) He's available at https://www.etsy.com/listing/4315227396/brith-custom-dappled-bay-breyer

Breyer has actually been releasing a few newer molds I like, at least as custom fodder. This is my first custom on the Stablemate scale (1:32), Brio, who I think is a great portrait of one of those rawboned, jug-headed mustang stallions thundering around the American West. I repainted him to a palomino sabino pinto, and he is available at https://www.etsy.com/listing/4318067451/constantine-breyer-custom-palomino

Just a periodic reminder that I've written several books on nature-based Paganism and Vulture Culture, and designed a couple of divination tools (tarot deck, osteomancy set)--the pic shows just a small sample. You can get all of them directly through my website at TheGreenWolf.com - if you have any issues ordering just email me at lupa(dot)greenwolf(at)gmail(dot)com. Thank you for supporting your friendly neighborhood self-employed author and artist :)

I don't usually use styling products on my haired Breyer customs, but I had a specific look in mind for this little Stablemate (1:32) Thoroughbred Mare made over into an appaloosa. I wanted her to have a swishy tail, maybe standing around on a warm day keeping flies at bay. So I sculpted her tailbone to be curved over to the right, and then once her hair was in place I used just a little mousse to give it some dimension; I also tamed down her mane and forelock, which ended up being a little thicker than intended.
She's available at https://www.etsy.com/listing/4309821216/mariposa-breyer-custom-chestnut-varnish
