You dig into your pocket to whip your phone out. Time to finally get to these damn messages after avoiding them all morning. You must be very popular today, since you have what feels like a million texts begging to be read. How your phone hasn’t exploded on you yet is completely beyond you.

Upon checking the list of messengers, you first see that your three main pals are pestering you. You’re very excited to see what they’ve cooked up for you to read. Though, you’re not sure whose messages you want to read first.

Your name is JOHN EGBERT. As you just now remembered and totally did not forget, it is APRIL 13TH. But not just any April 13th, no… It is your BIRTHDAY, and more importantly, the anniversary of going on a wild ride that was SBURB. It feels like forever ago that you were ALCHEMIZING COOL WEAPONS, exploring a PLANET full of SALAMANDERS, and FIGHTING BAD GUYS with your FRIENDS. And now, you’re celebrating the fruits of your labor by... LAYING ON THE GRASS..?

You’ve been laying in this prairie for God knows how long, watching the clouds gradually float by. CLOUD WATCHING is all you do these days, even when you first stepped foot into EARTH C- and this time is no different. Hey! You can see some shapes forming! Let’s see… classic DICK CLOUD. Dave would get a kick out of that. Ooh, GRIST CLOUDS! You wonder if you could use them for something. A cloud that’s suspiciously… NICK CAGE shaped? Haven’t thought of that guy in a while. 

You’re starting to feel very nostalgic all of a sudden. You can vaguely hear the sound of WIND CHIMES, and smell the phantom aroma of a FRESHLY BAKED CAKE. A dreadfully bittersweet feeling grows in the pit of your stomach, beckoning you to remember–

Just before you succumb to the embrace of saudade, you feel your phone vibrate in your pocket. All of your friends have been blowing up your phone ever since you woke up, and you have yet to check their messages. You’re sure your friends are dying to know where you are just to screech out a cacophonous birthday song, but you’re not sure if you want to answer their texts, or continue cloud watching.
