Okay but Claire and Isaac getting married? Him not having to change into someone with human emotions to be accepted but still showing growth and maturity and and a genuine care for her and her children? Her loving him for who he is and understand his way to express himself??? Him trying his best to follow earth customs by inviting his entire species (not seeing the problem in the fact that they were just at war with the whole galaxy and that them showing up in their ships would freak everyone out)??? That line about him taking care of her descendants forever?

I kept making squeeing noises throughout this whole SEASON's finale (The Orville had better be renewed or I'll riot).

Isaac's little headtilt after the renewal ceremony. The research. The proposal. The discussion after the proposal (if he did find another companion (or a series of them) would he look after their descendants, too? Wouldn't that lead to trouble eventually?). Goddamn Lamarr sticking his nose in it (though tbf, he's a big reason why Clisaac managed to take off in the first place). Claire chewing him out lol. Isaac inviting his whole homeplanet. That simulated Kaylon "stripper" killed me dead. And ofc that beautiful wedding. And I was very very glad they shut up Bortus and replaced him with Gordon, cause even Isaac started to look pissed off.

I liked the subplot with Lysella, too, but despite her relatable motivation and the pretty visuals of that asteroid, it rather paled in comparison to the main plot.

This was one of the things I did with my main male character. He has dark eyes - so brown they are almost black. The black hole analogies I’ve been able to use to describe them have been exceptionally fun to craft

i don’t think people really fully understand the beauty of dark hair and dark eyes. i don’t mean dark hair and dark eyes separately. like black hair and blue eyes. or blond hair and brown eyes. i mean dark hair AND dark eyes. people romanticize anything that’s light enough–light brown eyes that look like “gold” in sunlight. ok what about dark brown eyes that almost look black? eyes that are so rich in darkness, eyes that are so dark you could look into them forever and lose yourself. nothing is more beautiful than dark hair. dark brown and black hair. especially black hair. nothing is more beautiful than dark brown eyes. pair the two together and it’s so beautiful.

honestly where the show really succeeds in aziraphale and crowley is taking the time to show their familiarity, their domesticity with one another. their conversations meander and ramble; they talk about things other than the antichrist. they have lives and histories with each other outside the main plot. nobody could call the velvet underground bebop. ducks! that’s what water slides off of/just drive the car. arguing about driving 90 miles an hour in central london. these are all the sorts of things that flash bang media these days tends to cut because they’re not showy, they’re not really even relevant. cutting these moments is an easy way to cut time, stretch budgets, streamline narratives. i think we’re more used to now getting an “establishing” scene where we are meant to understand a relationship’s dynamic, and the rest of the time that dynamic stays implied through the movement of the narrative. but good omens revisits these moments again and again. it invites us into a relationship that has movement, depth, give and take, nuance. it invites us into a relationship that has problems and one that has beauty. crowley doesn’t just show up to save aziraphale in 1793 and 1941; they banter back and forth while it’s happening. it’s easy to see them as people that the plot is happening to, rather than characters reacting to a plot. they live and breathe. it’s really beautiful.

LOOK AT CROWLEY’S FACE WHEN AZIRAPHALE BRANDISHES THE SWORD. THAT IS THE FACE OF A DEMON WHO THINKS HE’S ABOUT TO BETRAYED BY THE ANGEL HE LOVES.

Aziraphale looks at the sword like he knows he should be using that as a threat, but that’s DUMB, this is Crowley, and he has better threats! Like never speaking to him again!

And look at Crowley’s face when Aziraphale says that!
