It had been a long day of training. A young soldier in training lies in bed, in one of those rare instances in which he got to enjoy a meal. He hasn't been eating so well, after all - hasn't been feeling great in general, to be fair - and now, as the hunger finally hits him, he eats voraciously.
Suddenly, he feels the food lodge in his throat. He begins to choke, and coughs violently to try and clear his airway. His bunkmate hears him struggle, and quickly comes to his aid. The trainee's eyes go wide as he feels a pair of rough hands shove against his stomach.
"Hey, calm down, I've got you-" the rescuer mutters cooly. He's been training here for weeks with the new guy. Knows him well by now. Knows he's the type to get a little panicky during stressful situations. It's a fatal flaw they've been working on together. Best to keep him relaxed, or else...
Little do either of them know, the panic and the lack of oxygen has caused the youth's undiagnosed heart condition to flare up suddenly. His eyelids start to flutter, and he chokes out, trying to form words. Something doesn't feel right, there are black spots in his vision and god, his chest hurts, it feels so tight, so tight its like his heart is going to burst.
Within mere seconds, he goes limp as his friend desperately pumps his stomach.
Noticing this, his rescuer decides to act quickly, and pulls the food from the trainee's throat with his fingers. He gets his airway clear rapidly, not concerned about the trainee's comfort or any damage he might cause from struggling, now that hes unconscious. He should come back around any second now...right?
Only, when the rescuer places his hand on his companion's chest, there's nothing. No breathing...no heartbeat. He checks his pulse to confirm...and there's nothing.
"Shit...shit!" the rescuer panics under his breath, not hesitating. Locking his elbows and placing his hands over the younger man's sternum, he begins heavy, controlled compressions onto the young trainee's bare chest. He feels his stomach churn slightly at the feeling of the slim chest underneath his hands sinking with his strong thrusts.
He knows time is of the essence. Another trainee soldier walks past the room. The rescuer screams at him, "Hey! Get a defib in here and call an ambulance!" Startled, the soldier peers into the room and is greeted with the sight of an ongoing resuscitation.
Stunned, the soldier stands frozen. His eyes follow those insistent, pumping hands, watch as the rescuer's biceps flex as he pushes down sharply, until the rescuer shouts at him again, more firmly, urgently. "We don't have much time!" he yells. And finally, the soldier gets moving, running off.
He comes back with the defib unit shortly. By now, the commotion has been heard, and people have gathered outside of the room, looking on curiously as the trainee's ribcage bends and recoils under the hands frantically working his heart. He's already looking pale, his lips looking frighteningly blue.
The rescuer charges the defibrillator. Analyzes the young male'a heart rhythm. "Come on, man..." he mutters under his breath. The defibrillator finishes charging at 200j.
"Clear!" the rescuer announces to the growing crowd of onlookers - signaling for them to stay away.
The trainee's chest gives a slight jolt as the shock is delivered. No change.
"Dammit...again! Get clear!" the rescuer huffs through gritted teeth. He charges up the paddles again. Presses them to his friend's chest. Hopes for a miracle.
Another shock at 300j. The trainee's muscles spasm, his chest jerks again. Still no change.
"Come on, come on, pull through...!" the rescuer demands. Sirens can be heard approaching. The ambulance is near. The rescuer's heart pounds in his broad chest. If they can't get a pulse...
"Clear!" he calls out one last time, as the defibrillator charges, finally, to 360j.
The harsh shock makes the trainee's back lift off of the firm bed. And suddenly, after a beat, he sucks in a deep breath. And then another. He's breathing. He looks scared, pained, as he tries to get up but is quickly and gently pushed down onto the bed again by his rescuer.
"Hey! Hey, I've got you, I'm here," the rescuer assures his freshly revived companion. He can't help the huge smile that spreads across his face. Hearing the youth gasp is liks hearing a newborn cry for the first time.
"E...Escobar...?" the trainee coughs out, his lips still slightly tinged blue, but regaining color already. He looks worn out, like all of the strength has left him. He's trembling with a burst of adrenaline rushing through him, making his heart race almost painfully.
The rescuer grins brighter, and grips the trainee's hand tight. Reassuring him. He doesn't know if his buddy is in the clear just yet, and the fact that his heart just gave out so suddenly worried him, but the EMTs were on their way. They'd take good care of him. "I'm here, Adam. I'm here."
(heyoo its my first attempt at a story here! might write a little more in the future with these two, idk c: hope it turned out decent!)
#cpr#resus#defib#i know im not the best writer but#hell this was kinda fun#not the most realistic either but we're all about fun here

this, just...all of this 😍
honestly as much as i love death scenes, i love resuscitation even more
the caretaker crying with pure joy when the whumpee gets a pulse again
the whumpee clinging to life as they’re rushed to the hospital
paramedics doing cpr while the caretaker watches, terrified
that little gasp that the whumpee does when their heart starts beating again
the caretaker encouraging the whumpee - “you’re doing so good, that’s it”
the whumpee being disoriented and confused
the caretaker holding the whumpee and saying “i’m not losing you again”
the caretaker stroking the whumpee’s face or head, having a hard time believing that they’re alive again

Give it up. The kid’s flatlined. He’s a lost cause. There’s no such thing as a lost cause. Quiet.

hey all! im not the type if person to publicly call people out, especially if its something im uncertain of, but i wanted to ask around...
has anyone else gotten messages from this account, or one similar to them? i got a very similar message from a different account (23 year old male literally begging me to talk to him about cpr) but soon after he messaged, he was deactivated. i didn't think much of it.
now, im getting a message with a very similar tone, and also from a 23 year old man, which struck me as a little odd. i didnt respond this time and just blocked him because i got a weird feeling.
anyone else had this experience? again im uncertain if maybe im just being paranoid or what lol.
whatever it is, stay safe and steer clear of the weirdos out there!
EDIT: i know most of the people in this community are awesome but just as a reminder to those who aren't; dont ask random people to exchange personal photos/videos. i don't do that and i know a lot of people don't either. its rude and a little weird to ask.
