Bäckahäst in Harness

With this painting I wanted to explore the idea of kelpie or bäckahäst geting captured and put to work. I wanted to see how much of that vibe I could convey without any obvious signifiers. I was inspired in part by Schiller's poem Pegasus in Harness, except I thought a blood thirsty water horse would fare better than Pegasus and people would know better than to mess with it. I didn't use any specific references and just used a couple of photos to inspire the pose and keep the harness more or less accurate. I used acrylic paint on paper.

That's unfortunate, our previous Empress wasn't all that good. Though less her and more her corrupt council that I fell prey to early on. It has been resolved.

I see cannibalism is a common practice for a lot of alternate realities. It is only done here as a disrespect to the dead. So it is not commonly practiced.

That would be nice. Though tackling responsibility head on is important. It gets easier over time.

Being Earnest can do the same thing. Being a leader can be a precarious balance. I took over after a particularly bad leadership, still dealing with the consequences a thousand years later. Though things have gotten better.

You sound very earnest. That is rather rare. Though I suppose for the people and earnest leader is the best.

I have a few thoughts, typically someone better prepared would be for the best. Though I can't say I've had my own personal experience be "prepared"
