So far, a lot of things I’ve seen about The Incredibles 2 is about how it seems like the trailers focus more on Bob than they do on Helen, despite the fact that Helen is supposed to be the focus of the story. But one thing I haven’t really seen is this scene, or about the reason why Elastigirl is chosen to bring supers back into the sunlight.
After the events of the first movie, it seems like supers are being allowed to come back in public with the iconic ending scene of the family donning their super suits. But they aren’t being allowed, and they’re still be persecuted against.
The Incredibles 2 seems like it will focus on this fact, and how they use Elastigirl, a female super, in order to change the law for supers. But here’s the thing: she’s the one that has to do the best, the one who has to prove that supers aren’t the bad guys and that they shouldn’t be held against the fact that people they save may or may not get hurt. In the current trailers, we don’t see other supers, though I believe they’re probably going to use supers that don’t have any fighting experience because of the super ban.
This puts a enormous weight on Elastigirl shoulders, because not only does she have to show the world that supers aren’t dangerous but it determines how her kids, kids of other supers, and supers who were kids/teens during the ban get to behave in society. By looking at the clips, the police don’t seem hesitant to shoot. So what she does directly impacts the super community, and this could mean that she tells her kids that they have to hide a part of themselves or she lets them use their powers with the possibility that they will be shot by law enforcement and no one will care.
That’s why it’s so important for her to become an advocate for supers. She’s doing it to protect her children.
But if we being honest, they’re probably going to lighten the scene up with Helen telling Bob that parenting is really hard, and Bob gonna think it’s a piece of cake and boy, is he wrong.
TL;DR: The Incredibles is going to make all of us cry

Do you have that post that talks about why Edna doesn't give superheroes capes anymore, the really sad one that talks about her at Stratogirl's funeral and ripping up her designs? I can't find it anywhere. Thanks!
I actually don’t know where that post is either, but I found a fanart similar to it here. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it before, but maybe someone else knows where to find it?

No matter how many times you save the world, it always manages to get back in jeopardy again. I mean, sometimes I just want it to stay saved! You know? For a little bit. I feel like the maid: “I just cleaned up this mess! Can we keep it clean for 10 minutes?! Please?!”

I’m so hyped for the Incredibles 2 announcements from D23. I ended up re-watching The Incredibles and doing a few colorscript studiesof the opening scene, an afternoon in the life of Mr. Incredible. Thanks for looking!
