I loved this stuff when I was a kid. Called it candy seed challah. We had poppy seed challah and sesame seed challah, seemed only sensible to kid me that this was candy seeds.

sprinkle challah shabbat again! made a loaf for services and a loaf for my housemates AND prepped some dough for a friend's party tomorrow because I'm trying to use up ingredients before I move

I'd like to preface this by saying that I understand where you're coming from and that you're not wrong that people on jumblr need to take a step back and cool down. I'm also an Irish Jew and it's not fun seeing the hostility. Ireland has absolutely faced atrocity and imperialism which need to be recognized and acknowledged.
That said, I also feel utterly betrayed by the Irish public and government. I'm pretty sure that most of the people who are angry at Ireland and the Irish feel the same way. The amount of antisemitism that has come out of both the government and the public is massive and seems to be uncontested. When a group like Kneecap can cosplay as members of Hezbollah and write songs that call for the murder of political figures in other countries while receiving as much support as they have from the public and the media, that's a real problem that demands some serious soul searching.
I would have expected far more sympathy for an oppressed group trying to reclaim self-determination from Ireland. Instead, the public and government have decided that Hamas is just like the IRA and are actually a totally okay bunch who people just don't understand. I'm angry, I'm disgusted, and it feels like the Irish public has decided that they've finally found a group that they can have a turn being shitty to instead of being the ones on the receiving end.
Sorry not sorry my patience is wearing thin but in my defense I have spent the past year and a half being attacked by friendly fire from people doing the exact things to me that I joined their side to fight against being done to them and I am sick to death of "Collective punishment is bad. Making exceptions for how you treat ethnic groups is bad. Atrocity denialism is bad. Indigenous self determination is good. I use Jose R Martinez Cabo's definition of indigenous people. Except for Ireland, Ireland is evil and doesn't count for any of my morals, including the ones I keep saying there are no exceptions to. You are the bad guy, not me. Those damn drunken violent Irishmen faking a history of oppression that definitely didn't happen but if it did it wasn't as bad as they say it was but if was they deserved it because they're all evil. How can I tell? They're the bad ethnic group. What do you mean I'm contradicting myself? You don't understand it's okay to do it to Irish people, because they are bad" in endless circles over and over.

Big shout out to Albania. The only country in occupied Europe whose Jewish population grew during the war. The Albanian people were very willing to protect Jewish refugees who made it to their country despite the risks. In 1939 there were 200 Jews in the country, in 1945 there were 1800.

Here's a group working to compile and preserve various Jewish languages from across the diaspora.
It's weird for people who claim to care about brown people, unlike those (((evil zionists))), that there is this hyperfixation on Yiddish as the true jewish language in place of Hebrew, which they considered the reanimation of the once dying language bad and for evil purposes.
Because ignoring the anti indigenous rhetoric of boo-ing the revitalization of a dying language, they're just upholding the same status quo they claim to be against, whilst partaking in Ashkenazi normativity.
What about ladino? Bukharian? Italkian? Judeo-Malayalam? Judeo-Persian?
Why is it only Yiddish which is seen as *the* alternative to hebrew?
I already know the answer. It's due to this hyper focus on european jewry and their descendents, which has lead to a refusal to learn about jewish history outside of Europe.
For people who claim to care so much about brown people, they seem to only focus on educating themselves about European history and seem to only want to uplift the "white" jewish language. (White in quotations as Ashkenazim are not inherently white and it's up to the individual jew to decide).
And it genuinely does suck. As all of those languages, including Yiddish, are dying languages. All should have revitalization efforts. And if anyone does know of any groups working towards revitalizing non Yiddish diasporic jewish languages, please do drop them in the replies. Below are some organizations working to preserve Yiddish as a spoken language

What I heard in the video was that there hasn't been any evidence presented. Not necessarily that it doesn't exist. One of the problems in covering this mess is that the administration has handled it in the sloppiest and most ham-fisted way possible. It's not clear (to me) what accusations have actually been made and what evidence has been presented to the court. Khalil is an antisemitic, pro-terrorist piece of shit, but he does need to be deported through proper proceedings rather than government fiat.
I've been subscribed to Legal Eagle for a while now. And I guess I will unsubscribing now.
I have gotten to the 7 min mark in his video on the Mahmoud Khalil case
I honestly can not keep watching. I'm so disgusted. The defense that is happening for outright blatant and horrifying antisemitism is stomach turning.
That he is able to sit there and make this video and give any pretense to that all went on was protest for Palestine and not pro-terrorism propaganda, spreading of terrorist messaging, and rabid antisemitism is just sickening.
It is gaslighting to the extreme.
There is also the tonal undercurrent of almost like the (((Zionists))) are the puppet masters behind it all and control Trump and the gov and that is why this is happening, going on. I don't know maybe I'm being paranoid, but I'm just getting really hearing that under tone.
I hope that someone with a stronger stomach can watch the whole thing and report back on it.
Heads the comments are repugnant and full of antisemitism as you can probably imagine.

Couple of things.
First: Most people living in the territories pay far less in taxes than people living in states do. This is one of the arguments that comes up every time Puerto Rican statehood is debated. IIRC there is no federal income tax on anyone living in a US territory.
Second: Most of the territories (PR and DC are the exceptions) are tiny and have tiny populations. Adding them in would exacerbate the problems of unequal representation in Congress that already exist with states that have tiny populations.
Third: @androgynos-varda-returns you're right on the money. That is the proposal for DC statehood.
Fourth: Yeah, the Republicans have absolutely no interest in adding states that are practically guaranteed to elect Democratic reps and senators.
The United States — ALL of it

Same. And I suspect it was the same community. Place has gone really bad over the last year and change.
First they came for the Jews, which I cheered on because Isnotreal is a colonialist state.
Then they came for Californians, which is okay because they're all rich hollywood Jews.
Then they came for the Palestinians, and I was conveniently quiet about that despite making a big ruckus about ethnic cleansing for the past year and a half.
Then they came for queer people, and I finally spoke up, because I am queer and everything is about me, don't forget that the Nazis killed queer people too and burned the Institute of Sexology!!
But by then it was too late, because I was part of a Russian disinformation campaign to convince millions not to vote for the one candidate who could have stopped all of this. But at least #KillerKamala didn't win and Jill Stein got to show up!
