"10 year old"
"burglary"
Did you happen to be living in a small mountain town in Colorado at the time?
i once went to vegas as a child pre smart phones and there was a store in one of the hotels selling gold and diamond phones and i walked right in and pointed at one and said hey can i hold that i might be interested in it and the worker looked at 10 year old me and asked if i could afford it and i told him well ma has been extra generous with the lunch money lately and i've been putting a little away each day and i hadn't checked interest in a bit and he said the phone cost $50k and i stood there and thought for a moment and said well i'll have to do a couple extra chores around the neighborhood but i could handle that if i could do a payment plan and he asked me what kind of chores i did to make so much money and he did not like me answering "burglary"

Imagine them going back and watching An Unearthly Child
Just think of all the noobs who watched the first two episodes on Disney+, were completely wowed and swept up in the story and the visuals, and went back to watch Rose...and got completely taken out by a CGI plastic bin eating Mickey

We should lower everything to 16 tbh
The whole "the brain isn't fully mature until age 25" bit is actually a fairly impressive bit of psuedoscience for how incredibly stupid the way it misinterprets the data it's based on is.
Okay, so: there's a part of the human brain called the "prefrontal cortex" which is, among other things, responsible for executive function and impulse control. Like most parts of the brain, it undergoes active "rewiring" over time (i.e., pruning unused neural connections and establishing new ones), and in the case of the prefrontal cortex in particular, this rewiring sharply accelerates during puberty.
Because the pace of rewiring in the prefrontal cortex is linked to specific developmental milestones, it was hypothesised that it would slow down and eventually stop in adulthood. However, the process can't directly be observed; the only way to tell how much neural rewiring is taking place in a particular part of the brain is to compare multiple brain scans of the same individual performed over a period of time.
Thus, something called a "longitudinal study" was commissioned: the same individuals would undergo regular brain scans over a period of mayn years, beginning in early childhood, so that their prefrontal development could accurately be tracked.
The longitudinal study was originally planned to follow its subjects up to age 21. However, when the predicted cessation of prefrontal rewiring was not observed by age 21, additional funding was obtained, and the study period was extended to age 25. The predicted cessation of prefrontal development wasn't observed by age 25, either, at which point the study was terminated.
When the mainstream press got hold of these results, the conclusion that prefrontal rewiring continues at least until age 25 was reported as prefrontal development finishing at age 25. Critically, this is the exact opposite of what the study actually concluded. The study was unable to identify a stopping point for prefrontal development because no such stopping point was observed for any subject during the study period. The only significance of the age 25 is that no subjects were tracked beyond this age because the study ran out of funding!
It gets me when people try to argue against the neuroscience-proves-everybody-under-25-is-a-child talking point by claiming that it's merely an average, or that prefrontal development doesn't tell the whole story. Like, no, it's not an average – it's just bullshit. There's no evidence that the cited phenomenon exists at all. If there is an age where prefrontal rewiring levels off and stops (and it's not clear that there is), we don't know what age that is; we merely know that it must be older than 25.

Hey so I showed this post to Trey Parker (met him on the street) and he just kinda laughed ominously without answering and left
I'm soooooo normal about the fact that every single episode with a significant amount of Craig and Tweek being a couple it's ALWAYS in contrast to Cartman.
In Tweek X Craig he's invested in their relationship and battling his own gay feelings
In Put It Down Tweek and Craig's relationship develops while the B plot is about Cartman's failing relationship with Heidi
Splatty Tomato has Craig and Tweek is always sitting there in the background as Cartman's relationship with Heidi is falling apart completely
HEY TREY PARKER WHAT THE FUCK DOES THIS MEAN????

RTD really fell off between 2010 and now
rtd2's idea of hinting at future villains etc is actually abysmal like. characters just Say Names now. what happened to spending a season doing hints that either didn't make sense or were mostly unnoticeable until you get to the end of the season and everything falls into place
bad wolf, saxon and torchwood were all implemented in their seasons pretty simply like, there was nothing fancy about the build up of those arcs but they all work SO well. and now we have shit like 'my legions are coming' 'the boss won't be happy' 'the one who waits whatever the fuck the line was'. it's honestly embarrasssing

EA-NASIR MENTIONED
Listen if the study of ancient humans doesn’t make you at least a little bit emotional idk what to say.
I started crying today at the museum because they had reconstructed the shoes of Otzi the iceman.
Tumblr media
Either he or someone he knew who cared about him made these shoes out of grass and bear skin and twine and he was wearing them when he died over five thousand years ago.
And a Czech researcher and his students did reconstructions of these shoes and wore them to the same place where he died to test them out and they were like yep! These shoes are really cozy and comfy and didn’t give us blisters while hiking!
Is that not just the coolest shit ever????

This sort of bullshit is why I fucking hate social norms. All this bullshit about "looking presentable" and "behaving appropriately", fuck it; wear a swimsuit to the office for all I care.
I don't know if you're ever done being struck by random Adult Hindsight on things about your parents, but pouring my tea this morning it suddenly just struck me just how weird boomers are about things like keeping up appearances and being presentable. I mean don't get me wrong, there definitely are times and places where you need to dress and act appropriately for the occasion, but being appropriate shouldn't take priority over the occasion itself.
My grandfather died in the heart of a remarkably cold winter, in peace with himself and after a long life and a brief illness. It sounds like a bizarre cliché to say, but it was agreed that very few get to pass as well as he did. His funeral was held on the coldest damn day of that winter. I needed to buy new clothes for it, a white scarf and a more simple, understated cap, since my mother thought that my usual winter hat - a big, black, fuzzy ushanka - was too frivolous for the occasion.
The cap didn't cover my ears and didn't offer much protection, but it was better than not having it on. The funeral was held on a freezing cold sunny day that my grandfather would probably have liked very much, but being outdoors at all - not to mention standing in the cold, with no hat on - gave me a headache within minutes, and I would rather have kept my hat on for as much of the ceremony as possible, while my mother kept hissingly whispering me to take it off, not put it back on yet, and when I was allowed to wear it again. My ears were freezing and my head was aching and I was just as annoyed by this tug-of-war as she clearly was.
If you asked her, I'm sure she would say something about how it's unfortunate that I didn't know how to behave appropriately at a funeral - worded in some way of how it's Surely Not My Fault that I wouldn't know any better, but with a strong undercurrent of making it clear that her children not knowing proper manners is not her fault, either. But ma'am what the fuck?
Your father has died and you spent the whole time fussing about my fucking hat??

This is a much better idea than what the episode implies
The “I thought that was non-diegetic” line has everyone thinking the Doctor can hear through the fourth wall, but what we’re actually hearing is his internal soundtrack he’s got going all the time. You better believe the Doctor wrote several, full orchestra playlists he either sings to himself constantly or the tardis beams into his head nonstop.
