Noah Wyle talking about his experience with Doctors of the World in Macedonia during the Kosovo War. His trip there inspired John Carter’s storyline in the Congo and Darfur on ER.
Watch this whole interview with the Thread. It’s wonderful.

I have no idea why this came up on my Youtube feed, but it feels like a Tim Minear plot waiting to happen.

shamelessly stolen from @/prophecybuck on twitter but i'm SO glad people are talking about this because this misconception pisses me off soooo much. sure, eddie might forget to mark the odd essay or due date on his calendar, but if you don't think that man doesn't have a minimum of four post-it notes for each school event, has alarms set on his phone for each dose of Chris's medication, that he doesn't over backwards to make sure that Chris is always happy comfortable and safe, then you're out of your mind. if you don't think that that 200 pounds of combat training and social anxiety would not sit his ass down in those little creaky plastic chairs with a notepad and pen at every single one of Chris's PTA meetings, then idk what to tell you.
what exactly makes you think, Eddie, that "that's my world," Diaz would not and is not intimately involved in every aspect of Chris's life? like Bobby said, Eddie doesn't have a problem committing to things he cares about, and Chris will always be Eddie's number one priority. if you don't think Eddie throws himself into everything related to Chris with 100%, then you simply do not understand the fundamental tenants of Eddie diaz.

Do not think for a moment that this admin is only going after trans folks. They are ultimately going after the whole LGBTQ community. They start small, like getting rid of a hotline option, then go BIG.

i don’t think people understand how much of life is grief. not just people dying, but losing the version of yourself you thought you’d become. grieving the city you had to leave. the friends you lost not in argument, but in silence. the summer that will never come back. the feeling that maybe you peaked at 12 when you were reading books under the covers and believing in forever

we do need to revisit the wording of "you can't have your cake and eat it too" because i don't think it clearly enough conveys that it's more that you can't simultaneously retain a cake and also get to consume it (which would render you cakeless). for years i was like But why not....it's my cake....?

the 118 at a bar together and someone brings up buck 1.0 in his public sex era so they start talking about stuff they're into. keeping things vague and joking of course, but then buck goes "no i swear i'm into the craziest shit. like once eddie was changing a tire on my jeep and i was like huh am i into cars or something?? and then, Shut Up ok i know you're all...medical people, whatever, but i saw eddie putting on gloves and i thought oh i did not know i had like a doctor kink. oh and then the other day eddie twisted my arm around my back because i was being annoying and i got So turned on it was crazy!"
hen and chim are like "have you maybe considered there's a common denominator there?" eddie is like "dude i got turned on then too, that's awesome! we're such good best friends :)"

“I think it’s very possible that the U.S. is on the verge of a major, major military campaign that it wasn’t considering at all just a few days ago and that we may be doing that more or less solely because Donald Trump is jazzed about and attracted by the idea of “winning.” And Israel is now “winning.” So he wants in. It’s important to step back and recognize that there is really literally no one in the inner discussion of U.S. foreign policy today who has any level of foreign policy or military crisis experience at all. That’s a big statement. But I think it bears out. The two heads of the U.S. intelligence apparatus have zero experience in intelligence work. The head of the Pentagon is Pete Hegseth and he appears to have surrounded himself with lackeys. Marco Rubio is both Secretary of State and National Security Advisor. He did focus to a degree on foreign policy in the Senate. But he’s never been involved in any national security crisis. He’s never worked in the executive branch. Even the people who are hardcore Trumpers but had some real level of foreign policy experience, like Keith Kellogg, now have other assignments. Kellogg is envoy to Ukraine. The current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs isn’t a career Army Officer. He spent a significant amount of his career in the Reserves. (I don’t think at least — but not certain on this point — that he ever served on the Joint Staff.) The point is that there’s really no one in the room, as it were, who is in a position to keep the President from just riffing. And I think there’s a decent chance that’s exactly what’s happening.”
