Anon that told me not to post for <3 reasons: saw your message, agree with literally everything you said, from beginning to end. I won't address the first part here, but the second part - I think a lot of people (on both "sides") are going to be severely disappointed with all, or at least major parts, of Season 3.

This fandom is so Baby’s First Fandom for so many people
Oh, sooooooooooo many people. and a lot of them are open about it which....great, but that means that they are guests until they are not, they are new, they need to learn how things go. and sure, we can get into 'sometimes change is good there have been problematic things blahblah' of course, but general fandom etiquette is not that hard to understand, not that hard to find, and is based predominantly in common sense.
and one of those big, first rules is: don't talk shit about people's art !!!!!!!!!!!!! and again, there's nuance to that conversation, we have fanartists who are not drawing louis/jacob, they are drawing a dark skinned black man with none of jacob's features but lestat/sam is recognizable. those things are things to address. but making posts about fanfics, calling out specific fics just because you don't fucking like it, making complaints about all the fanfics in the fandom saying all the writers are bad (especially in a fandom as small as this one and as volatile) is just asshole behavior all around. and, to be honest, it's really obvious that 98% of the iwtv fandom doesn't like these characters or show or anything, they like getting online and calling other people stupid and are constantly constantly constantly getting into fights and screenshotting people that have them blocked and their entire personality exists in talking negatively. and not that it being a first fandom is an excuse for that (especially when everyone is predominantly sitting in the 20-40 age range) but damn. you think they'd grow up by now and figure some shit out.

Do you think the writers' room realizes how important it is to see Loustat make love for the first time in 80 years? Not in a voyeuristic way, but for the emotional and symbolic weight of that moment, something intimate, the shiver of touch, kisses like it's the first time, becoming one again. I know Jacob and Sam could bring all the depth this scene deserves, so skipping it would be such a mistake. A huge missed opportunity.
I can't help but think of their first kiss it's probably gonna be huge and we will have the real Loustat their real dynamic where Louis can't hide his true feelings.
Oh, I think they absolutely think they know this and I think both the writing delivery of it and Sam and Jacob's acting of it will be truly life altering.
I think about the 101 sex scene and how important that scene was for an endless list of reasons. Not only was it Loustat's first time ever, but it's this amazing look into the dynamic that is Loustat. Lestat - who is so often so impulsive, so quick triggered - patient because this requires patience, this requires him to not scare Louis, to let Louis have an autonomy in choosing Lestat, in wanting him enough to go for it. Louis - who is so often overly controlled to put on a fake front, who always has to take care of someone and put his own wants and desires on backburners - being given the permission to let go, being given permission to want, and allowing himself to submit for the first time and it's so good. It's so good that he still, to this day, talks about it like it was black tar heroin, that he was taken to the rings of Saturn back, that it was the best he ever had. The moment he launches himself at Lestat, to kiss him and to touch him, Lestat lets him lead it, lets him know that he has a say in this, but when there's an actual fight for dominance (which isn't an actual fight at all), Louis realizes he doesn't have to put on a front, and there's such a relief when he turns around in Lestat's arms, lets Lestat's take care of him !!! Like it's so good for them both and I think about it all the time. And while we don't see any of Louis and Armand's sex life really (not explicitly) we know that it was sexually and romantically and emotionally unfulfilling for many reasons, much of which lies within the very thing Louis was able to let go of when with Lestat: putting up a front. He's been putting up a front, again, for 70+ years. And Lestat, well, we know no one has ever compared to Louis, we don't need to see it, we know this and it will be true no matter what potential messes he's involved with early in S3. So I think the writers know this, they put that type of thought and care into these sexual and romantic relationships and they will continue it. And I think the first time Louis and Lestat get to kiss in the modern day, I think the first time they are able to have sex again, I think it will even outdo what we've seen in the previous seasons because they've spent so long thinking they'd never have each other again and so this means even more than that first time. To see Lestat - who is very much out of control from everything we've read about S3 - find his center, find control, find peace in having Louis' body under his hands, to have Louis' hands on him, to see Louis feel free enough to let go of any fronts, to feel free enough and safe enough to submit to someone else !!!!!!!!! Like !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God it's going to be so good. I'm not ready, I'll never be ready, I'm shaking just thinking of it.

is it different seeing jacob and sam in person compared with seeing them on screen? do they look different at all?
asking because i probably will never see them in person for myself!
oh yeah, they are startlingly beautiful in person, they feel very unreal. take everything you see of them on the screen and just. multiply it. like when I briefly talked to jacob, he smiled. I think jacob's smile is the most stunningly beautiful thing when I see it in pictures and on screen and in interviews and stuff, but in person? oh my god. truly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, I don't know how anyone survives seeing it directed at them for any period of time. when I briefly ran into sam, his eyes were hypnotically blue, genuinely sparkling jewels in his head and his eyes crinkle at the corners when he smiles and it's ??????????????? idk. I don't even have real words for it. but yeah, they're just truly the type of attractive that they don't feel like they should be real outside of a television screen. there's a vague otherwordly feeling seeing them. crazy beautiful people.

We know lestat in the book is a very forgiving character who doesn’t hold grudges and basically can’t fault anyone, not even Magnus.
In your opinion, do you think that translates to show lestat and what we’ve seen if him so far? Maybe s3 will tell us more about that and we’ll get more of a definitive answer. I think of his family and his mother and Nicki and Magnus, all these people we haven’t met that have wronged lestat and shaped him and what he thinks about them books vs show.
I'm curious about this too, because I'm not entirely sure, but I will say that I have a very strong opinion on Lestat with one particular character that I think show!Lestat will hold a grudge against. Obviously, Lestat is not grudge holding against Louis or Claudia. That has always made, will always make, sense. From the briefest thing he's said about Gabrielle, I don't think he holds a grudge against her. And I don't think he's holding a grudge against Nicki either. But I do think things could be different with show!Lestat and Magnus, show!Lestat and his brothers and father, show!Lestat and Tom Anderson (I'll get into that), and - most importantly - show!Lestat and Armand.
I'm not sure how I exactly think show!Lestat is going to think/talk about Magnus, but I will say that I feel confident that he won't do what he does in the book where he's suddenly like 'Magnus was even beautiful to me and he couldn't leave me! Maker, oh how I love you' like I think part of what AMC is doing with the show is really honing in on the horror of these situations. It's horrific in its own right in the books, but AR was notorious for like. having blatantly abused characters love their abusers to insane levels where it did feel like romanticizing. I don't see them doing that here, I think we've seen that with Armand and Marius and I think even the little bit Lestat has talked about Magnus shows a clear fear and horror Lestat still feels of the situation. If his father is the marquis that's beheaded that he got the necklace he gave Claudia from, that flippant way he speaks about it tells me he's fairly indifferent to the fate of his father and brothers. Obviously we don't know, but since we're not getting Lestat-brings-dad-to-America-to-live-with-him-and-Louis I think this is all in the air. I think Tom Anderson is a great example of show!Lestat having more grudge holding tendencies. Tom Anderson slights him, Lestat is maddddddd about that, and Lestat has full intent of killing Tom for that...and he does! And sure, Tom Anderson is a human and not someone Lestat was overly close to, which is different than characters like Magnus, Gabrielle, etc. but Lestat never seems to hold grudges against any humans either so ! Now, show!Lestat and Armand is where I think we may really see this come into play. I'm so curious. I don't think show!Lestat is going to hold a grudge against Armand for almost killing him, for the sexual assault Armand commits towards him, for anything from the 1700s, but I think show!Lestat is not going to take the death of Claudia lightly, I don't think show!Lestat takes lightly that Armand was going to sit back and let Louis die, I don't think show!Lestat is going to take lightly that Armand took credit for saving Louis - knowing Louis had no reason to believe Lestat whatsoever, and I don't think show!Lestat is going to take lightly that Armand contacted him in 1973 about Louis trying to kill himself and didn't tell Louis he loved him.
Rolin has made other couples worse to lift up Loustat (a decision I do genuinely love) and part of that means, to me, making Loustat even more insane about each other. Book!Loustat wouldn't get jealous, AR didn't have her vampires get jealous (a decision I didn't understand, still don't) and so yeah, Book!Lestat doesn't grudge hold against Armand for these things, but that show!Lestat veryyyyy much could and probably will.
I think Season 3 will make this a clearer thing. I would enjoy it, I don't think it takes away from any of Lestat's built personality because he would still be too forgiving to Gabrielle, to Armand for the other things, to Nicki, etc.

I would looooooove ten episodes. If it's only 8 though I have faith in Rolin to make that work and just leave out stuff that can be shown in later seasons. He said at sdcc that he felt he could do iwtv in one season and that if he did it in two, he'd be bringing in material from other books, so he seemed pretty confident, which is comforting.
Yeah, I think Rolin and co. could make anything work, but I do think to do TVL in a singular season (as they should do!!!!) they need 10, maybe even 12, eps. I don't have a lot of faith in getting 12, but I DO have a lot of faith in 10. like that sounds on brand with how things have gone so far.
And I'm sure they could have done IwtV in one season, but I will also say I personally feel IwtV was necessary to split into two seasons to make Louis a co-lead moving forward. Louis is soooo lacking in plot and whatnot in the books after IwtV, and so to flesh out a personality and a person that could be on par with Lestat as a co-lead as the seasons go on, two seasons feels like the most necessary move. And I will forever be so grateful I got two seasons to meet AMC's LDPDL and to love him as we move into the next chapters

What are your thoughts on Dream-stat? Do you think he was supposed to be Louis’s real feelings about Armand?
Dreamstat is the most important thing in the world to me. When we learned that was how they were incorporating Sam more into a season Lestat wasn't going to originally show up a lot within, I was so excited. The general concept of loving someone so much you're haunted by them, the way Louis' fear and longing were warring.....delicious. And then to see it come to life, just !!! Even better than I imagine. I think Dreamstat though is a lot of things. I think he's a lot of Louis, I think he's a lot of what Louis remembered about Lestat, I think he's a lot of what Louis wanted from Lestat, I think he's a lot of what Louis genuinely put educated guesses towards what Lestat would do/say/think during situations, and I think he was a way for Louis to think about things without actively 'thinking' about them, to be able to be like - even mentally - I didn't think it, Lestat did. I think he is some of what Louis thought about Armand. Like the scene in 204, right after Louis and Armand have had sex, Lestat mocking Armand's 'I love you' is 100% Louis mocking Armand saying it to him, imo. The entire scene is Louis trying to make it clear to Armand he's looking for something more casual, that he likes Armand, he does, but this isn't companionship.
I'm sure this is referring to people talking about the 'HA!' scene in 204 at the art gallery and. Yeah. I think that's Louis' feelings too. I think Louis feels really manipulated in that scene, I think Louis knows enough about Magnus that he doesn't like that Armand compares, even slightly, Magnus creating Lestat to Lestat creating Louis. I think Louis also realizes in that scene that Armand's entire power IS superficial and Louis is genuinely attracted to actual power, to real dominance, to confidence. I think a lot happens in that scene.

That whole interview with Sam was wonderful, and him getting the giggles remembering Jacob's joke and reminding us that he and Jacob talk all the time, they're so cute I want to bite them. I won't but I want to.
I need to know what Jacob's favorite scenes from Sam and the others are now.
I say this, and I know I'm biased, but our cast - as a whole - genuinely give such amazing interviews. Sam, Jacob, Delainey, Assad, even Luke and Eric, put so much thought behind their answers, think so deeply about their characters and the way their characters interact with the world and with others! Sam constantly proves himself to understand Lestat so so well and I can't wait to hear what he has to say as we are able to let him talk about Lestat in S3. As for Jam talking all the time....of course they do, of course, of course, of course. And I would love to know Jacob's favorite scenes of the others too!! I would put some guesses forth, but I'd probably be wrong, he thinks so so deeply about all these characters too and I'm sure whatever I'm thinking isn't totally reflected, but I !!

Do you think Louis pre Lestat was touch starved?
oh, 100%. 1000%. I think they both were touch-starved, but I think - staying with Louis - there was an utter hopelessness attached to Louis' being touch-starved. like this acceptance that he was a 33yo man in New Orleans and would never be able to be with a man, that the risk to his reputation and his family finding out, and everything just made it unattainable. that he had to posture a masculinity that wasn't true to his true self that wouldn't allow him to be with a man, and then he meets Lestat and there's this powerful man who has actual interest in him beyond just as a businessman in Storyville or as the head of the Pointe du Lac trust, and there's a spark of hope, there's a deep attraction, and then it happens and it doesn't just happen, it's the most satisfying and overwhelming and beautiful experience where Louis felt not just sexually satiated for probably the first time in his life - having never been able to submit even in his previous fumblings - but felt love? felt understood?
I think a lot of what it felt like for him to not only know the grip of Lestat's hands on his face, his throat, his body, to know the softness of Lestat's lips against his and on his body, to know what Lestat's teeth felt like inside of him, to know what the muscles of Lestat's arms felt like, to know how his cock felt against him, but also that moment where they're breathing heavy and Lestat's hand is over the hummingbird beat of his heart, just really SEEING him. oh my god, I bet he was just. so overwhelmed beyond comprehension.
