This is the official tumblr for the Lisanby Art Museum at James Madison University!
We are located in the lower level of the Festival Conference and Student Center in room 1108! We have rotating exhibits drawn from the Madison Art Collection, currently our exhibit is Coming Forth by Day: Life and Death in Ancient Egypt.
Hey everyone! Welcome to the first full week of “The Making of Madison” exhibit in honor of JMU’s very own James Madison. Come on in to The Lisanby Museum, located in the bottom floor of Festival (open from 10am-4pm) to visit the interns and see a bit of our namesake’s personal history!

The Egyptian exhibit currently on display tells of the ancient Egyptian’s afterlife rituals and tombs. Be sure to come see this peek into the past before it goes away in February!

Well Dukes, we’ve survived the hurricane! Come celebrate with our new exhibit Bridge of Dreams! The Lisanby is full of 18th and 19th century wood block prints! Even if art isn't your thing come celebrate the sun with us and study in our quiet nooks with a view!

While the Lisanby Museum may be empty now, it'll be a different story come September. We're pleased to announce that we'll be kicking off the Fall 2015 semester with "Bridge of Dreams: Buddhism, History, and Society in the Ukiyo-e Prints of Edo Japan."
