JUST DO IT
Have a read through Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud, extremely great book talking about the medium of comics, it's long but my god is it good. I think chapter 4 is particularly useful for ppl w/o a lot of comic experience.
Remember that comics are not storyboards for tv/film, they do things way cooler than that (see tip #2) 😎
Read lots of comics!! i consumed manga in my teens at an unholy pace + learnt a lot unconsciously while doing so. (I read a lot less now unfortunately and maybe manage a graphic novel every 6 months)
JUST DO IT, DONT THINK, JUST MAKE COMICS, THEY MIGHT BE BAD OR A LITTLE UNCREATIVE AT FIRST AND THAT'S GREAT BC YOU MADE A COMIC AND YOU ONLY GET BETTER WITH PRACTICE, JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!!
#as a lowkey comics freak i cannot tell you how pissed off i get when i click on a comic and its motherfucking storyboards.#you dont have to do a lot with panels in fact you dont have to do ANYTHING.#my only advice with panels is to not Overdo it. a total lack of panels that is readable (basically picture bubbles) is better than panels#that are trying to be quirky and interesting and simply become illegible.#prioritize READABILITY in your comics if you want OTHER PEOPLE to READ them.#<- you dont have to do this if you genuinely dgaf about other ppl reading your comics.#but if you do. make them readable. very small ask here. lots of people seem to forget tho.#at the end of the day the most helpful thing you can do is just read comics.#like. if youre not even reading comics why do you want to make them? really sit with that question.#ask yourself what your motivation is and what drives you. comics are a shit ton of work for no money. do not dedicate yourself to something#you dont have a strong commitment to. you can find other ways to tell stories if thats your only end goal.
