Cassimir finally won something in Round One (ew) -- also gdi Rian you had ONE job!

Sebastian beating out Finley/Kale seems unlikely, but I also think that Kale was probably super cocky and it went to his head! (Also he probably tried to show off and it backfired). But on any given day, Kale would beat Sebastian 10 out of 10 times at this!

Okay, so I will say that the wheel had Sebastian beating Arthur ... which just felt like so much of a stretch to me! Originally, I felt like Arthur might have gone easy on him, especially if he had won the jousting competition / was tired/possibly injured? but as it is, I'm gonna say no to that one?

Plus, even if Arthur was trying to go easy on him ... Sebastian legit doesn't want to win -- especially against Arthur!

(Sebastian also was then supposed to beat Cathaoir and go on to face Tristan in the finals ... which also didn't feel right at all, haha)

ALSO RONAN GOING ON TO WIN THIS??!? hell yeah! But also ... could be v bad for him, hehe

And then the final competition shall be a ~teamed melee~, where all of the competitors are divided into teams (2, 3, or 4 depending on the number of participants) and face off against each other.

When registering, please indicate the skill level of your competitor. I will be drawing names from a hat to determine the winners, but the more skilled your character, the higher their odds.

SKILL LEVELS:

LEVEL 0 - Has never done this before / is more a harm to themselves than anyone else (Cormac level ;D)

LEVEL 1 - Beginner / only vaguely knows what they are doing

LEVEL 2 - Below Average / has had practice and instruction, but still learning to master the basics

LEVEL 3 - Average / knows their way around, has had a few years of experience and can hold their own, but certainly not an expert

LEVEL 4 - Above Average / knows what they are doing and has a few tricks up their sleeve to put them ahead of the competition

LEVEL 5 - Master / an expert in their field! you don't want to mess with them!

I will also be drawing names to determine the match-up orders, as well as the division of the teams for the final melee match. Please indicate a skill level for each category (even if your character is not participating in that category), for I'll use an average of the four numbers to determine their ~odds~ for the team melee.

Once all of the ~registrations~ have been received, I will start posting the results. None of the results will be set in stone, because I want us to be able to do whatever is best plot wise, but I think it will give us a starting point, anyway.

UPDATE 03.01.25 / event #5

Guys, I have a new laptop and already everything is 1000% easier! And The Long Forgotten Realm is back! <33 I have gone through and updated the comment site, but please let me know if I missed anything over the last month and a half, if you notice it.

I promise that we will ~definitely~ have those new characters that I have been teasing for months now (facepalm) but I will wait until we are back in the swing of things again.

I also know that it has been a few months since LFR has really been active and I don't want to overwhelm anyone, either! If you'd like to ~stagger~ the return of your characters like we have done in the past with other RPS returning from hiatus, I'm okay with that!

EVENT #5

As the last snows of winter begin to fade away, RODERICK VARMONT announces that a public tournament is to be held on the first day of spring. It promises to be quite the spectacle: with a large reward in gold to be presented to the winners. Jousting, archery, and hand-to-hand combat are amongst the categories and any man, regardless of rank, may enter.

It promises to draw a large crowd to the city from across the country and there shall also be markets and entertainments to divert the crowds.

As a sign of goodwill, he has consented to allow EILIONORA STAFFORD and ARIA STAFFORD to attend.

But there is more to this tournament than may meet the eye -- as Roderick means to use it to set a trap. The fugitives and the men who rescued them have evaded his men all winter and if they still remain in Astaira, he knows that whatever supplies they have will have grown thin over the winter. And as these men who so easily defeated his own are likely to be skilled warriors, he suspects that they shall see this as easy money. Roderick means to have his spies watch every contestant closely, in the hopes that he may discover their identify.

CIARA VARMONT suspects that her cousin may be setting a trap and has warned the resistance of this ... but will they take her advice?

My computer is dying and is so slow to load up and launch tumblr … but it’s also been with me 13 years so I guess it is time. I'm toying with the idea that maybe some of Marian's family will make an appearance in the next tier or two and I was wondering if @forgottenmarian had another other headcannons beyond the following?? (I added in one more sister / her mother as potentials, too/filled in the ages but all of that can definitely be changed!)

Dad (Charles Dance) - ambitious / influential / power hungry / xenophobic / is/was in a sort of battle for political power and influence w/ rian's dad

Mom (Diana Rigg??) - toying with the idea of having her mom around, too, unless you think she's died??

Brother #6 (33) - a brother did something sort of idiotic a couple years ago which is part of the reason more of her family hasn't gained holdings in Astaira as roderick is reminded of it from time to time mysteriously (spoiler: its because of Amira)

I was thinking about adding the next tier of characters (to finally include the Lorcans!) next week, but I think I'll wait until November but they are definitely coming!!!

In light of the 1 year mark, I did decide to still add a challenge for us to work on during the hiatus. It is a headcannon ask meme which can be found here.

Gods and Goddesses

I honestly loved the idea that Kate AA had about the portals and the secret hidden keys to them that had been hidden to prevent the gods return. (And that the truth about them has been lost for centuries, to the point that no one really knows about them) Also the fact that Kate pointed out that there were like ~elemental~ keys and as I continue to think more about the gods/goddesses, I do have four of them being gods/goddesses of the elements and started to think that perhaps each god has a key that is sorta tied to them in some way?

And to bring the gods and goddess back to earth only one of the portals needs to be opened, however they will be like mortal men and women until more of the portals are opened and they can start regaining more and more of their godly powers and strengths? (And will reach their full godly powers only when all ten are opened?)

I'm still working on all of their stories, etc. but here is what I have so far!

Amestris - goddess of wisdom; of the earth; of history, and academia; has no sympathy for fools; humans were made in the image of gods and she finds it an insult to herself when they are stupid (possibly mother to Artaynte and Alya??)

Artaynte - goddess of light; the sun; the sky; sister to Alya

Alya - goddess of space; the moon; the stars; goddess of grief and lost; goddess beloved to house stafford is said to have personally come down from the heavens to bestow a crown of stars upon the first stafford king; is said to have later fallen in love with him during the first time the gods came to earth and they married and had a child together, but she ultimately had to return to the heavens when the war was over and he and their child both eventually died. Her child was a demi-god and was blessed with long life, but ultimately mortal; sister to Artaynte

Cambyses - god of textiles; of trade; of gold and jewels (brother to Mestrius??)

Cyrus - god of wind; of air; hurricanes; of war; of revenge

Damaspia - Queen of the gods; goddess of mothers and of little children; mother to Darius and Xerxes

Darius - god of death/ruler of the underworld/god of autumn/god of fire/his father told him he must never venture into the underworlds, but darius was blinded by his own ambitions to have a place of his own to rule that he went there, anyway. the underworld was where the souls of the dead were to go to rest and spend eternity-- but it was always supposed to remain untouched by the gods. when darius went there he placed a curse upon the place -- and himself. (The details of which I am still working out tbh) And he shall remain cursed until he returns home and beg his father for forgiveness. But Darius is proud and he will never go back unless he is triumphant. Darius means to find a way to raise an army of monsters and claim heaven and his father's seat as his own.

Lucius - god of wine; merriment; riddles; finds humans to be amusing but does not have the same spot for them that roya does

Mestrius - king of the gods; father to Darius and Xerxes; creator of the universe

Phaedra - goddess of spring; rebirth; siblings; flora/fauna; very sympathetic towards humans and views them as her charges instead of things she can control; is the godess said to basically have been the "fairy godmother" in the vers of cinderella was once in love with darius and meant to be his wife but the whole ~cursed to be king of the underworld~ thing got in the way of their relationship

Roya - goddess of summer; the sea; youth; impulsive af; thinks of humans as playthings

Xerxes - god of winter; god of ice; god of death. when xerxes heard that his brother darius meant to make a journey to the underworld, it was xerxes who went to stop him before anyone found out that he had gone. But he was too late and he was there with Darius when their father discovered their absence. Even though Xerxes was trying to keep his brother out of trouble, he too, had disobeyed his father by entering the underworld and he now remains cursed. He cannot return home until Darius does. Until then, he must shepherd the dead souls from this world into the next and send them to the cursed underworld of his brother's making instead of the peaceful afterlife they deserved ...

I'm thinking that I should be back to normal activity levels for the rest of the month. I'm hoping to get back to some comments today/read through stuff that has been posted in my absence, but if there's stuff I missed/questions that still need to be answered by me, please let me know!

I'm in awe of everything you guys have been plotting/the lore site/the world anvil. Honestly the amount of work/love/ideas that have been put into this rp is amazing and I love you guys for it <3

UPDATE 07.12.24

SEMI-HIATUS (7/12-7/31) Hey everyone! My boyfriend got a job back on the east coast, so things are gonna be kinda hectic for the next few weeks while we get ready for his move. I'll be moving in September because of our lease and then like ... immediately after taking a trip to London, haha, so this RP may go on a full hiatus for the first few weeks of September, but we will see how things go.

There won't be any new events/challenges/characters until October, but we should be good go be back to our full activity by then!
