But I was rereading EOS and on the part where Manon goes against her grandmother, before that, Asterin says what she thinks were her last words

"Bring our people home, Manon."

And then Manon snaps and goes to kill her grandmother, fights her long enough and, in her narrative, stay alive long enough for her thirteen to escape. To get a shot at surviving.

She was ready to die if they got to live.

Then in KOA, Asterins last words to Manon are,

"Bring our people home, Manon."

Now, several things.

Firstly, in EOS she may have said these as more of a plea, but in KOA she says it was a kind of, like, determination and confidence, because she truly believed in Manon to do it. Had fate that the witch she had turned into could and would do it.

Second, her last words to Manon were always meant to be a promise Manon was supposed to make to her. So even if she was dead, there was something of Asterin with her.

Now, lastly, her saying this in KOA was all this. But I can't help but think it was also like she wanted Manon to remember when she first said those words to her. How Manon was ready and willing to die for them to live.

So in a way it was for Asterin and the thirteen to indirectly say, You were willing to die for us, we're willing to die for you.

BECAUSE THAT WHAT IT WAS.

They were willing to die for her to live just as she was for them.

Suffer with me.

everyone: what's your goal in life?

me: to write a story so soul snatching, so gut wrenching and so devastatingly beautiful that it leaves you crying at 3am when you have a 8am lecture/shift and it inspires people to write entire essays, to write entire fanfics, mood boards and playlists based on it.

i feel like everyone would think it would be cassian (or rhys on purpose to piss of eris) but i feel like lucien would be the one to accidentally curse in front of the gingersnaps and one day after a particularly gruelling day of meetings eris is met with his wittle baby shouting fuck as lucien stands sheepishly behind him

“Did uncle Lu do anything to hurt you?”

Eris’s voice is full of concern and a bit of snark as he looks over the babe in his arms. A mop of red hair with freckles smiles in his arms, babbling incoherently with some familiar sounds. He could say some words - dada, mama, and he started saying ‘Lu’ recently, much to Eris’s annoyance.

Lucien shakes his head, “he scraped his knee once in my care and you’ll never let me live it down.”

“You once bumped your head while in my care and that event explains why you turned out this way.”

“Well if you’re just going to insult me, I’ll see myself out-“

The babe in Eris’s arms began trying to form a sound with his mouth, a ‘fff’ sound forming. When Lucien began walking towards the door, the babe pointed at his uncle, forcing out “fuck!”

Everyone knew someone would do it eventually - between court drama and carrying the weight of Prythian around, one of them was surely bound to snap and curse in front of one of the babes.

You and Eris assumed it would be Cassian, but never did Eris imagine his baby brother would corrupt his babe so soon.

“Wow, Er. I can’t believe you curse in front of him.”

To accent his point, the baby starts nonstop yelling out “fuck”.

Lucien starts to slip out the door, but is thwarted by Eris’s hand gripping onto his shirt. “You can have the pleasure of explaining this to my wife.”
