I'm often asked how I spend my time living in Asia; the truth is, I'm in a constant cycle of work and practice. When I'm not working, I'm training, and when I'm not training, I'm working. The repeated process of creating new content for my website and training the exercises prescribed to me by my teacher day in, day out can occasionally feel monotonous. However, the positive feedback from my members and the progress I'm making in my practice makes all the hard work worthwhile. "Do what is right, not what is easy." This afternoon I decided to take a break from working and visit the enchanting Buddhist temple, Wat Umong Mahathera Chan in the โold townโ of Chiang Mai. As there are currently zero tourists in Chiang Mai, I had the entire temple grounds to myself; It felt quite surreal. During one of my visits to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Yap Boh Heong, and Ben Shue shared some important details with me regarding the body's energy pathways and their relationship with the placement of the hands in the kung fu forms. For example, depending on where the rear hand is placed and in many cases where it is touching, the back hand can either strengthen or weaken one's entire structure. There is ancient knowledge hidden inside the traditional Chinese martial arts forms; you just need to find a teacher who has attained the knowledge and is willing to show you. I was fortunate to be one of the first people to read this book almost two years ago when the author Mattias kindly sent me a draft in its early stages to review.
