Happy Father's Day!
Celebrating those wonderful fathers, grandfathers, even uncles around the world
...especially Masayuki and his (sorta) aggressive but loving Jijy, which I sadly don't have a pic of them together saved, nor does he have it up somewhere. 2025 marks 35 years since Jijy's passing back in 1990, and one line in the 3rd verse of "Session" was dedicated to him.
Instead, have a short vid of Masayuki singing a fatherly lullaby from his 1989 concert.

Today, May 25, marks 30 years since the Mycal Hummingbird era albums were given remastered re-releases. This was due to the said label already dissolving and Warner Music Japan later got rights to songs released under that label.
As much as I like Masayuki's original albums, the Mycal Hummingbird era had what I consider to be one of my favorites: Colors.
Still waiting patiently for Warner Music to put these on streaming...

Masayuki Yamamoto was featured in a May 1976 issue of a music magazine in the Knock On! section briefly showcasing newcomers in the Japanese kayokyoku scene.
At that time, his debut solo single "Sayonara La-la-la" had been released just two months prior, so it made sense to had him featured so much in that year.

Little Pollon turns 43!

Hideo Azuma's fantasy comedy shoujo creation was adapted into an anime by MIC -- with the same crew behind Galaxy Cyclone Bryger on this day in 1982! Acrobunch, MIC's other TV work, had just premiered on another channel 3 days prior, with some of the staff involved. This wouldn't be the first time Masayuki Yamamoto got involved in Azuma's works. He wrote two image songs for Nanako SOS a month prior and got credited as music assistant to Ichiro Nitta in the anime adaptation by the same studio a year later, taking over Little Pollon's timeslot.

A Masayuki Yamamoto Presents Brochure!

Yes. This is a brochure promoting the then-upcoming production show Shachihoko STARDUST in January 1994. It starred Hirotaka Suzuoki and Kazuko Sugiyama as Sentaro and Nanae Hoshino respectively.
The interior includes the cast and crew behind the show alongside liner notes...or a map directory by Sugiyama and Masayuki Yamamoto himself.
The exterior featured ads for Licca-chan series of dolls and for the TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine game Bakucho Yoshimoto Shinkigeki.

Masayuki Yamamoto's latest solo concert event was during the pre-pandemic era back in 2019 with the 34th original concert AT THE EARLY TIME being one of the last. Here's a flyer promoting the then-upcoming concert.
If you think this was the last time he held a concert and haven't done one again since, the Tatsunoko 60th Legends concert in 2023 was, in fact, his latest concert appearance.
I've mentioned in The Masayuki Paradise page that the release of Sainou no Kiseki might be foreshadowing a comeback to solo concerts for the first time in 6 years. We'll wait and see, then...

"How to Become a Popular Songwriter"

A young Masayuki Yamamoto playing on his guitar (It's the same picture used for the cover of At the Early Time DVD). This was for a Sept 23, 1975 issue of Japanese Playboy as part of a special topic wherein he discusses his rise to fame as a musician.
The issue came out nearly 2 weeks before the premiere of Time Bokan, his star-making work.

Here are two special doodles done by Masayuki Yamamoto himself for the two 10-disc box sets, which can be both found on their respective front covers of the book.
Those artworks feel like it belongs in a mural.

Here are some snapshots (not by me) of a special fanzine about Masami Yuuki and Masayuki Yamamoto himself titled Neppuu Shoujo, published in 1991.
The cover page features tons of characters from various manga works by Yuuki, with Maron Namikaze from Assemble Insert front and center. The other three pages cover a retrospective of Yamamoto and his relation with Kyuukyoku Choujin R.
That one doodle of Yamamoto with labeled senses depicting his specialty(?) alongside his likes is pretty cute. I love that he's a puppy lover! 😊

Fantastic Legacy ~An Epic of Love and Romance~

Victor Entertainment went crazy in the 90s for not just an uneccessarily excessive amount of anime theme compilation albums, but for an interesting lineup of drama albums.
Around 1991, Victor released an entry to the Fantastic Legacy drama series titled An Epic of Love and Romance (Ai to Roman no Jojishi). There were 10 albums in the series covering Greek and Roman mythologies.
With narration by Ikuya Sawaki and featuring illustrations by Kenichi Ohta, it stars a plethora of seiyuus including Chisa Yokoyama, Kotono Mitsuishi, Kan Tokumaru and Tomoyuki Morikawa.
Oh, the reason I'm posting this is because Masayuki Yamamoto provided music for this drama album series, which is peculiar in that I don't think anyone else has covered nor been listed before in his entire career as a composer.
