Wolfdogs aren’t cute.
We don’t need to cross a wild animal with one that’s already been domesticated from it.
Even if its amount of wolf content is low, it still has genes from a wild animal and still has potential to pose danger to humans.
Wolfdogs aren’t legal everywhere. In many places where wolfdogs do happen to be legal, if a wolfdog bites someone—even if she’s just playing—she may be required to be euthanized.
We already have dog breeds that resemble wolves without being crossed with them.
Wolfdogs aren’t ethical.

I know there's no answer for this, I know... but what is cryptic Merle
there is an answer! there are several! i would be thrilled to offer some sparknotes but i am apologizing in advance because this is going to be confusing... a) it's a question about colour genetics and b) it's a question about the most confusing possible gene. i will try to leave out as much bs as possible.

I've been working on this guy between commissions, and I finally finished him!
I originally wanted to make a hellhound puppy out of a wolf pup BaB, but then I decided why not use another brand of plush? I've only modded a Douglas plush once, as a commission, so I decided to find a black lab and modify it. I found a "James" black lab on ebay for $25, he was a bit loved (dirty and the stuffing was smooshed and flat) but the fur was in great condition!
I gave him a good wash first, because he needed it. I wanted him to have ears that stood up, so I basically removed his ears, switched them, and sewed the bit that sticks out down along the face seam on each side that goes towards the snout. Then I added a few tacking stitches to make sure they stood up. Then I restuffed him so I could add horns! For horns, I used the ones from the Beast I modded for Jeremy 😁 I darkened them a bit with acrylic paint. I replaced the eyes with pretty red ones, and thread sculpted the paws (redid the face sculpting too). I had the collar already and I made the pendant out of beads, tiny keyring things (idk what they're called), and chain. It originally had red beads but they looked really crowded so I redid it.
I'm so pleased with the result, it was nice to do a custom just for fun, and I enjoyed working on a different sort of plush than usual. BaBs are easier though lol.
I'm putting this under my modded Build-A-Bear tags because it's easier to lump this with them than to go back and add the modified plush tags to all my other posts.

Btw it's ok to rehome a pet. You are not a bad person for no longer being able to care for the animal or just not wanting the responsibility of the animal. It's better to give it to someone who is able and willing to care for the pet. Forcing yourself to care for a living being out of guilt is not beneficial to either of you.
