honestly the degree to which I get so much more okay with people saying things in fandom when it’s stated as a preference rather than incontrovertible fact is kind of mind-blowing even to me

per that last post about headcanons it’s like. establishing your first principle that “yes this contradicts canon but I’ve decided to ignore that” is going to make me feel so much less inclined to get bitchy about something that feels like a willful misreading of the text

like, yes! this can be sort of frustrating and feel like you’re diluting yourself but honestly I think it goes a long way sometimes to just acknowledge that you’re having a specific type of conversation/approach rather than posing something as a universal truth presumed to be accepted without question

Christians:

Shocking leaked footage has emerged of Uyghur Muslim detainees in China. They are lindfolded, with their heads shaved, and hands tied behind their backs. They are most likely being transferred to a concentration camp from this station in Korla city.

Upto 3 million Uyghur Muslims are suspected to be held inside the hundreds of concentration camps or detention facilities scattered around East Turkestan (Xinjiang province in China).

A modern day holocaust is taking place and history is repeating itself, yet still the world remind silent. People are forcibly taken their families and indoctrinated inside these camps. They are forced to abandon their cultural and religious identity and follow the atheist communist teachings.

An independent tribunal recently found that forced organ harvesting was taking place at these camps. Ex-detainees have spoken of the severe torture they suffered and women have reported being sterilised inside these concentration camps.

Investigators and journalists are refused entry to to these places and high tech facial recognition cameras are placed on every street and every corner in Xinjiang. Even when going to the market Uyghur Muslims have to go through security checks.

Many mosques have also been destroyed and any Arabic or Islamic art is removed from town centres and buildings. What's happening in China is a modern day holocaust.

‪Tolkien is probably turning in his grave cuz of how many people ship Frodo and Sam romantically 🙃‬ Even popular artists in the industry are drawing them like married couples or boyfriends or whatever….(no I don’t need someone to explain what they are. I’ve read the books, seen the movies, I can clearly tell it’s a totally platonic relationship).

This is exactly what I mean when I say we need to re-emphasize platonic friendships again and show just how important they are instead of misconstruing every close bond we see as romantic or projecting our personal fantasies onto characters that aren’t even ours.

‬Ya’ll can’t seem to accept that not all strong emotional bonds and expressions of affection like kissing foreheads or cheeks are automatically lovey-dovey, romance, etc. Not every character or person is out to sleep or marry or live with with the person they’re closest to…

C.S. Lewis was pretty harsh when he said this:

“Those who cannot conceive Friendship as a substantive love but only as a disguise or elaboration of Eros betray the fact that they have never had a Friend.”

So yeah. Watch out guys. You might find yourself being exactly what C.S. Lewis described…
