OHHHHH I get it now. This guy has spent all these years roiling with spite over my every word because he thinks we were friends and that my "politics" ruined it. But both these things are false because my opinions have been the kind he hates since long before he heard of me, and I was never friends with this man. He was an ordinary commenter I sometimes replied to like any other commenter. I can't recall any major personal conversations he ever tried to have with me and I know nothing about him other than the fact that he became a 4chan/kiwi rage guy after his attempts at a creative life fizzled.

When he's not slobbering about me, he's mostly shitting himself over the fact that sometimes he sees a gender he didn't want to. Just the way he writes about anything paints a picture of such a deeply uncomfortable and lonely existence, it's like you can immediately tell this is a guy who isn't loved by anyone currently alive.

I clicked the "Try again" button in the first image thinking it was real, before remembering it was for Tumblr Live and cringed, and then was relieved it was just an image!

It's bad enough they'll never get rid of putting Tumblr Live at the top of the feed forever, but now it's started auto-loading the first stream on my phone and letting it play in the thumbnail.

So I went digging. As far as I can tell, Tumblr has no real "data saver" options for when you are or aren't on wifi, like, say, Twitter does. It lets you disable video autoplay, but that does not apply to this Tumblr Live bar.

So if you have data limits, Tumblr will happily just let Tumblr Live gobble it all up and possibly incur extra fees with your phone provider. Some could argue that with Tumblr being so media heavy as it is, maybe you shouldn't be browsing it on phone data anyway. But why throw fuel onto that fire?? Why make it worse???

I do think it's a fault of the human condition a bit that once we become proficient at something, we start to forget that that something was at one point very difficult for us. Once we get good, we start just mentally sorting the things we're good at as being "easy" to do.

Like I've been tying my shoes my entire life. I can do it blindfolded. It's easy FOR ME to tie my shoes. But I remember how hard it was to learn how to do it at first. The mental effort to remember the steps and the physical dexterity to perform them was difficult. For a long time. But eventually I became proficient at it. Tying my shoes didn't become easier, I just got better at doing it. The task itself was completely the same in its level of difficulty.

If I saw someone, regardless of age, who was having a hard time tying their shoes. I wouldn't assume they're a fucking moron just because I don't have trouble with that anymore. I'd just assume either they're still learning how to do it, or there's some other factor at play that inhibits their ability to achieve proficiency. It isn't a personal failing on their part that they have a hard time with something that I no longer have difficulty with. Tying your shoes is fucking hard. Everything is hard. Life doesn't get better, YOU just get better at living it. Or, you don't and then you need some extra help, and there's nothing wrong with that because the struggle is real.

I feel like sometimes people forget what it was like to suck at something. You should try to remember. I remember tying my laces into knots and then needing to use my teeth to undo them because my shoes weren't tight enough and kept slipping off my feet. I remember falling off my bike and skinning my knees. I remember rage quitting Dark Souls cuz I couldn't get past the fucking bell tower gargoyles. I remember getting so flustered trying to learn the new program tools at my job that I snapped at our teacher in the middle of training.

I don't have trouble with any of those things now. But I'd never look down on anyone who still does, cuz that shit was fucking hard yo. Frankly it's a miracle that anybody manages to tie their shoes.

no, dear transphobes. I do not want your cis kids to be trans and go though surgeries when they're only 10. I want our trans kids, to become trans adults. I want them to have a better, safer future. I don't want to hear about another suicide by a trans minor, because they were so severely bullied and couldn't take it anymore. I don't want to hear about another trans teenager being murdered, just because they exist. if you can't understand such simple thing as this, there is something really wrong with you.
