Going on an exchange will make you the happiest and the saddest you will ever feel in your life

Just went through my personal tag, as this blog has been dormant for sooo long, and honestly it is kind of cringeworthy. I was going to use this blog as a sort of documenting-journal when I was studying abroad, but honestly I seemingly only used this for ranting abt my feelings when I was lonely or sad (probs bc when I was happy I was busy being w friends and having a great time?). This paints a quite ome-sided image of my experience as an exchange student, when in all honesty it was one of the best years of my life.

I got to travel to ~7 states, go on a trip to Hawaii, volunteer, it inspired me to become a teacher, and I met so many amazing and inspirational people. Friends and others who proved you your dreams doesn't have to be only dreams. I mean these people are all SO passionate about what they're doing and it shows.

Yes, in the beginning I had rough days, and yes I did cry. You're starting a whole new life, new friends and routines and EVERYTHING is new. But heck I cried in the end too? I had to leave this new life behind, and that was hard too.

Even this post is making me cringe because it sounds so cliche but it is true. And lastly, that year I grew so much. Especially when I was sad, I learned to pick myself up and carry on, as well as trusting others and asking for help.

Okay long post but it is late (like 03:50 am) but I really needed to get that off my chest. So if any exchange students are reading any of this please remember that roller coaster drawing they show us when preparing for the exchange. It ain't bull y'all
