I know the answer to my question, but I'm going to ask it anyway. How are people still not getting that Kendrick's entire issue with Drake and what Drake represents is about the appropriation of culture (the culture of hiphop, black culture, etc.), and how that can also apply to America as a whole?

'Cause some of the takes I'm seeing about Kendrick's Super Bowl performance are weird and ignorant to say the least.

I am not a football fan, but I watched every second of that beatdown and it was glorious. Watching that boy get sacked over and over again only to get back up and throw an interception. Watching that team be so demoralized was some quality television. I've never been so excited for a team to win a football game in my life.

Yay to the Philadelphia Eagles. That was a damn good show you put on last night.

Things I'm doing in 2025:

Blocking people.

I've already started, but whenever I see anyone doing or saying anything that I'm not rocking with, I'm blocking. I'm done with listening, reading, or dealing with anything I'm not vibing with, especially if you're rage baiting or being disingenuous or just flat out being a dumbass for clicks.

I'm so tired of fandoms and stans and certain demographics of people and protecting my peace is the one resolution that I'm for damn sure keeping.

And, usually, I don't engage with stuff that I don't vibe with anyway, I just move on, but this year I'm actively blocking all the dumb, stupid shit I see so I never have to see it or anything like it ever again.

3rd party voters, burn in hell. Trump supporters, burn in hell. You are everything wrong with this country. And I knew that, but you all really showed out this time. The racism and misogyny and homophobia and transphobia just thrives in you and you can't wait to proudly announce it to the world. The stupidity, it's there too, and you're really proud of that also.

As a black woman, I am so tired and, yes, so incredibly angry that I have to share space with so many people in this country.

I don't like to make resolutions because they get broken so easily. But there are three things I'm working on now that will carry over into the new year with more intent and focus.

Read more books. I'm the kind of person that goes on reading sprees where I read 10, 11, 15 books in a week and then I get burned out and don't read a book for an entire year. So, in 2024 I will try to read at least one book a month. It will be part of my self-care routine. Put on some music, light a candle, and just read for an hour or two.

Be more intentional about getting healthy. I've lost 30 pounds since May not by "dieting" per se, but by changing a lot about the way I eat, but I want to be more proactive about getting healthy. So, my focus is to go back to doing my water aerobics class three times a week, add more vegetables to my overall diet, and only eat dessert once a week, twice at the maximum.

Budget, budget, budget. I've got to cut frivolous spending. Which means bringing lunch from home and not ordering door dash. And make my coffee at home. Winan's can see me a little less in 2024 (although I must give myself credit for never buying chocolate when I'm in the chocolate store and just buying coffee.)

These seem like three things I can do that aren't going to overwhelm me. They are also things I'm currently trying to do, so it's not as though I'm making myself some random promise that I'll feel pressured to do and then ultimately cop out on.

Ultimately, I think I'm just trying to just be a better me physically and mentally. I want to focus more on taking care of myself. I'm very much a person that appreciates alone time, but I think I'll try to spend my alone time doing more things that aren't in my bedroom. And really find a moment to squeeze in a couple of sleepovers in hotels with my best friend (my adult bff, not my 11 year old nephew who's always at my house).

What I did at work today:

1. Uploaded a prior auth into the system.

2. Faxed off a plan of care to a doctor's office.

3. Answered a few phone calls.

4. Watched 2 kdrama episodes.

5. Spent a couple hours on tiktok.

Tomorrow I leave the office early just 'cause.

I had a very productive day.

I will do even less tomorrow.

I'm usually okay with the various sides of the clock app I'm on, but there is one side of tiktok I'd like to exit, because I'm sure the deep voiced, half-naked man speaking all sexy into his microphone as he doms all over the ladies is supposed to be sexy, but I find it extremely irritating that he thinks he can talk to me that way.

And to be fair, I don't actually get his videos directly, I just get ladies being all hot and bothered about it, so maybe I am on the right side, but seriously, I need to be following more women not being hot and bothered by men telling them what to do (in a sexy way, not an asshole way), because that's not for me.

This also applies to booktok. Stop giving me recs for books about women who take orders and give me more books about women who give orders.

And now my followers know way too much about certain aspects of my personality.

So, the last episode of Moon Knight had me literally screeching. My mother legit texted to ask me if I was okay and what I was screaming about.

I need more of this show. Also, Oscar Isaac deserves all the awards and only good things because he is a masterpiece. I've always liked him and his work, but this was just so good.

One of the things that's amused me the most about 2 Kids Room is Hyunjin complaining every chance he gets about everybody in his dorm being naked all the time. He just wants them to put on some clothes. I kinda want to see Hyunjin, Chan, Changbin, and Han sit in a room together and Hyunjin just read from a list all the things they do that annoy him. It would be absolutely hilarious.

My favorite thing about the Felix x IN episode, is that, according to Stray Kids, Felix and IN are, in fact, angels and they have nothing bad to say about them because they are perfect.

You know you're an introvert when staying in your room in order to avoid having to interact with people (who aren't technically strangers) in your house is more important than eating, even tho you haven't eaten since lunch and it's almost 10pm.

At this point, if you're saying stuff on the internet that can be debunked by a thirty second Google search, I'm assuming that "Dumbass" is the brand you're going for and you should put it on a business card and hand it to everyone you meet so they know what they're dealing with.

Obviously, being loud and wrong is your trademark and being stupid is your profession. And the people who have to interact with you deserve to know that.
