How the fuck do you make friends post college with trust issues?

Because I don't know how.

I'm word vomiting this here:

I'm giving my first curtian speech as co manager at the theatre I work at for the first time in a few months. I'm highly considering this dress.

Because 1.) I'm nervous as hell and 2.) It's my personal salute to me being my nerdy self but still being professional. There's going to be a lot of important people there but I'm not giving up my identity for them.

I'm also considering a couple braids like this:

Because I've fought so many fucking battles to get here.

College was an absolute nightmare for me. My hair is literally white because of it. And I hate it. I have physical and mental scars that probably will never heal and that no one other than me really understands how deep they go. It effects me so much.

And dropping out didn't fix that. In fact it got worse. I have no friends from college left. I refuse to work certain places because of who works there. I have major trust issues.

The worst part of all of this isn't even because of my ex. It's because of my so called friends who hurt me deeper and worse than any partner ever could.

Then there's those that make light of my ptsd.

And this doesn't even cover half the shit I've had to deal with in the last 10+ years. Sexual harassment, verbal abuse,stalking. The list does on.

But I won those battles. Somehow even with my brain and my chronic illnesses, I'm still here.

And I don't even know what is going to happen to the theatre at the end of the year but for one moment, I want to stand there proudly and say my speech. This is me. Not shrunk into a small box, not making myself smaller for someone else or whatever people think I should be.
