theo tyrell was never one to follow the rules. as a child, he could always be found by the water, either on the shores of the arbor or sneaking aboard the redwyne fleet, exploring the world beyond the safety of his family’s walls. he formed a bond with an old captain of their fleet, learning the art of sailing and developing a love for the freedom it brought. breaking rules was second nature to him, and he rarely found trouble he didn’t seek out for himself.

as theo grew, so did his restlessness. he valued his personal freedom above all else, never quite fitting into the role his family wanted for him. he kept relationships at arm’s length, afraid of the vulnerability that came with opening himself up to others. instead, he indulged in fleeting one-night stands, each encounter another way to avoid commitment, another way to protect his heart from being hurt or embarrassed.

then, alester came along. their relationship was anything but easy. theo strung alester along for two years, refusing to commit, until alester forced his hand with an ultimatum. that was when theo realized he had fallen in love—an emotion he had always avoided. but even then, he found himself torn between his duties to house tyrell and his inheritance of house redwyne. some days, the call of the sea was all he could hear, tempting him to leave it all behind and sail away. but alester, his anchor, kept him grounded to a life he didn’t always want.
