"The thing is, “ said a voice from above, "you don’t have to.” Piper’s heart could’ve floated out of her body. At the top of the nearest colonnade stood Jason, his sword gleaming gold in the sun. Frank stood at his side, his bow ready. Hazel sat astride Arion, who reared and whinnied in challenge.“ LIKE OKAY THIS IS THE MOMENT WHERE IT’S LIKE DAMN HERE WE ARE THIS IS IT THIS IS THE END I MEAN LOOK AT ALL THAT DEVELOPMENT

And by the way– I love you guys.” Festus’s claw opened, and Jason and Piper fell. Jason had no strength to stop it. He held on to Piper as she cried Leo’s name, and they plummeted earthward.

Then he went to the shrine of Hades in the corner- a little table decorated with bones and jewels. “I suppose, ” he said. “There’s a first time for everything.” He knelt and prayed silently for his father’s guidance. (I’M SORRY BUT CAN WE REMEMBER NICO BACK FROM THE TITAN’S CURSE TO NOW??)

And for the last chapter, Leo finally reclaimed his life. He got his revenge. He saved his friends, and the world. He and Festus are back, and they’re free. No matter how much time went by, now Leo gets the life he’s always dreamed of, with Calypso by his side. It was a powerful ending, and a meaningful metaphor for all the characters.

“The bronze dragon spread his wings, and they soared into the unknown.”

From start to finish, this series has been an incredible journey. It’s been hilarious, heartbreaking, and heartfelt. Every character had great development arcs, and looking back at the first series and The Lost Hero, it’s mind-blowing to see how much has happened. It was an adventure I’ll never forget. Every step was great, and the ending (as seen in my MANY reasons above) was fitting and beautiful.

It was sad to see the pages run out, but the story never ends.
