I feel like if humans swallowed rocks like birds do to help grind up food we'd have so much fun with it.
Can just imagine all the girlies on tiktok going "I know this is a bit controversial but I honestly love using limestone as a gastrolith. Not only can you readily forage it but they are just so pretty when smoothed out after regurgitating them"
and then all the comments would be like " girl 😭 😭 calcite dissolves in stomach acid!! Just use quartz if you want a pretty gastrolith like 💀"

Thinking a lot about the neil gaimen stuff, and the through lines of it.
Idk. When I see that someone did something fucked up, I genuinely don’t get mad at them. I think I’m just kinda past that. I tired it and nothing happened and I just kinda want to sit and think and do something different.
Every time I end up in my head with the same conversation.
“damn, it’s fucked that we built a world that let this happen. Like, no one sat that person down and talked with them. No one could because of the dynamics at play. The structures we built failed to make these people have better lives and make better decisions, and that sucks for everyone involved. And I’m sure that some of the folk hurt by this will be so traumatized that they will fneed a lot of care and help and they might also hurt some folk along the way to recovering from it. Damn. We really should make a better society, a better world to live in. Let’s have compassion for everyone in this situation, try to lessen the harms that come from it, and work to build a world where they are less likely. And idk, maybe I should reflect on some of my own feelings and actions while we are at it. That’s a good idea. Maybe think of how I’d talk to my buddy if they were going down a path like that, what I’d do to stop it”.
Cause I really think we gotta stop seeing this shit as just like, signs of monsters, personal evil, and who to avoid. It’s a lot more systemic than that. We gotta start working to prevent this shit, manage it, recover from it. We can’t just keep being shocked and angry and shutting it out from our ideas and lives and actions.

the fact that so many people are still stuck on the 'gender and sex are separate, gender is Fake and can be whatever you want, but sex is real' thing is crazy. there's a lot of people who can talk the talk with AGAB terminology without understanding the point of said terminology, i.e. that gender, sex, et al are social categories justified with medicalisation, not the other way around. anyone who says 'biologically male' or 'biologically female' just believes, in a slightly more complicated way, that being transgender is a mental delusion, rather than a genuine analysis of and position in the social system of gender.

Trans and intersex people in the UK need you to be loud and angry about the new "deception as to sex" guidance released which makes trans and intersex people legally guilty of rape if we don't disclose our gender identity and/or the sex we were assigned at birth to sexual partners.
This is particularly going to harm trans and intersex sex workers, who often have a higher number of sexual partners who we might keep our trans or intersex identity from for our safety.
"To summarize this guidance in the simplest terms, it treats a trans or intersex person not disclosing their gender identity and/or the sex they were assigned at birth as a form of deception which negates consent."
"This interpretation of part of the existing Sexual Offences Act (2003) places an unreasonable burden on trans and intersex people to inform our sexual partners of our medical history, while no such burden is placed on cis perisex people who are allowed to rely on assumption."

Hardening within seconds of extrusion, volcanic froth rich in carbon dioxide spews from an active vent. What begins as liquid lava hits the ground with the tinkling of breaking glass.
