New Year’s Eve 2020/Welcome 2021!
So, here we are! The last few hours of the unfathomable surrealistic nightmare that was 2020. I’m currently trying to wrap my head around experiencing what can only be described as survivor guilt. My year really wasn’t that bad, it was actually pretty good. SO many people had such a terrible experience, and I am honestly so grateful that I was fortunate enough to have been spared the bullshit. I feel for everyone who lost loved ones and lost jobs, and I think it’s safe to say we all lost our sense of normalcy. The new normal is strange and scary and complicated, and the ability to adapt and make the best of a shitty situation is now paramount. On my account, given the extraordinary circumstances that were thrown this way, I kicked ass this year! I went to trade school for personal training, studied my ass off, and got my Certified Personal Trainer certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. JUST IN TIME! I graduated from this program on the St. Patrick’s  Day that never happened. The day the bars all closed during the initial Covid-19 shutdown. I am so incredibly thankful for unemployment insurance! Since I wasn’t working, I signed up to go back to school and finish my Bachelors degree. My first semester back since 2017, and I ace my classes and test out of the remedial math. Grateful my classes were remote because trekking out to Staten Island is terribly aggravating and time consuming! I got back into boxing this summer and did exercise things with my friends! So much fun being active. I went back to the gym full time as soon as they reopened. I lost almost 20 pounds and look and feel great. I QUIT SMOKING CIGARETTES! My crowning achievement by far. I was also lucky enough to spend the quarantine with the love of my life, and we managed to get to Florida to visit Taylor, and wound up in Massachusetts twice for little vacations at Martha’s Vineyard and Salem. Ended the year by registering for next semester at CSI, and now I am currently taking a Nutrition Coach course for a certification from NASM as well. MAKING MOVES! Of course there was bad shit that happened too, but this post is strictly gratitude and positivity. Good riddance, 2020. You caused so many people pain and fucked shit up big time. But I didn’t catch the plague, and I didn’t lose anyone. I only drink on special occasions now (controlling the alcohol versus it controlling me), and Trump is outta office. The silver lining is strong in this one.
Resolutions? Promises I am making to myself:
Get my weight down to 115 pounds
Reducing my body fat by 5% (to 13.3%)
Get to the gym 5 days a week, at least
Complete an entire consecutive school year
READ MORE! At least 1 book a month!
Less social media
Less comparing myself to others
Take care of my teeth/face/skin
