really hurts me that no one has read the spellslinger series bc that shit hits different. kellen is an inspired main character like he’s absolutely insane, filled with rage about the world and is the the smartest stupid bitch i’ve ever read about. you watch him grow up over the course of the series as he navigates the world in his own chaotic way. the world building is absolutely gorgeous, the characters make me feel violent in the best way possible and the whole story is so real and visceral?? there’s a sense of found family but the heartbreaking thing is that as soon as the trope is fulfilled it just comes crumbling down. i’m re-reading the whole series rn and every time i finish another one of the books i feel like i’ve been eaten alive and spat out again.
