A common myth about eccentric weight training—busted! The slow down, fast up method is still being utilized, despite no evidence supporting this style of weight training. If the load is kept constant, less muscle tension is generated during the eccentric phase of a lift. Simply slowing down a sub-maximal lift does not enhance strength. Watch this post to learn more. A few tips for hamstring training. I’m giving a perspective from inside and outside the clinic, covering some issues behind hamstring strains as well as muscle and tendon pain. Make sure your hamstring training is being performed from the hip and the knee, that you are working on pelvic and gluteal control and that you are progressing velocity as needed for sport specificity! Watch this post to learn about few stretches I have stopped using because I see quite a few problems associated with them. The first stretch is one I try to get people to avoid because it is a very provocative position for the shoulder and easy to cause impingement. There is also some data suggesting the cross body stretch is a superior stretch for the posterior shoulder capsule. For the hip stretch, a lot of people are producing impingement of their hip joint when they can modify it to make this a more productive stretch. There are several variations based on the individual but I find these are generally helpful hints. Hope it helps and share the knowledge! #shouldermobility #hipmobility #stretching#evidenceintraining #rehab #prehab https://www.instagram.com/p/BxbIuF4jdUU/?igshid=b8g58b1w3sh4

The benefits of EPOC(excess post-exercise oxygen consumption) are commonly referenced in the training communities; however, like many popular scientific terms, there are some misunderstandings. In this review I provide some up-to-date evidence-based information to get people back on track with what we do and don’t know about EPOC. This is certainly not an exhaustive review but I think it hits some major points. Share the information!
