Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was an Indian billionaire business magnate, chartered accountant, stock trader and investor. Jhunjhunwala was also a Certified Chartered Accountant (CA) and completed his education in 1985. After completing his CA degree, he wanted to enter the stock market.

Jhunjhunwala was born on July 5, 1960. He grew up in Mumbai, where his father worked as a Income Tax Officer. After graduating from Sydenham College in 1985, he joined the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He was married to Rekha Jhunjhunwala, who is also a stock market investor.

He started out as a small investor but quickly developed a keen interest in the stock market and financial markets. Entered the stock market in the early 1980s with a small investment in a few stocks. In 1985, Jhunjhunwala invested Rs 5,000 as capital.

After graduating with honors from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai, he borrowed $100 from his brother-in-law in 1985 and started buying shares at age 25.

He earned his first big profit in 1986 when he bought 5,000 shares of Tata Tea at Rs 43 and the stock rose to Rs 143 within three months.
