this post explores the reality of how women can spec into either a wizard build or a melee build as they go through life. however, in order to reallocate their skill points, they have to acquire a soul vessel and bring it to the fire keepers in things betwixt. the post is then followed up with a reblog featuring a pun, substituting the term "respect" with "respec."
but what does this say about society as a whole? obviously it could be criticizing those who would prefer women be locked into a single restrictive path for their whole life (ie. traditional gender roles), as well as an insinuation that there aren't enough female wizards (a historically male dominated field due to the majority of women being unable to grow long white beards). this is an activist post, and we're all better for having read it.
ladies. you should be able to switch from a melee build to wizard anytime you want

this post is bullshit. that's right, plain misinformation. it is possible that twitter user suchnerve genuinely believes this point, but there is nothing to back it up. they provide no source, and an online search reveals nothing about the topic, other than a reddit thread full of people who never knew this factoid. just like is happening here, and that's because it's just plain untrue.
and don't think i haven't looked. i read the entire wikipedia article on bumper stickers and they didn't even mention the original (according to unverified sources) "honk if you're horny" bumper sticker. indeed, it seems as though this time, it is simply not that deep.
so, does this say something about the world at large? sure. it displays how some will confidently state "facts" that they don't know for sure, and that many people will simply take them at their word. it shows that many will trust. and many will be wrong. and even with no ill intent, the resulting hearsay spreads misinformation through the circles that have been exposed to it.

this post is pushing against the all or nothing state of our modern social climate. you either like something, or you don't. you either have a certain topping on your pizza, or you don't. this dish strips away everything that traditionally makes a pizza a pizza, save the crust, as if to say "oh yeah? well i chose nothing!" but as an extra layer to the protest, the one who ordered it requested a small amount of one topping. beef. the result is a bastardization of all things pizza, a rejection of all norms.
it's no coincidence that it's on the left, either. it's a left wing stance against authoritarianism. no. against anyone who would enforce a structure as silly as "this is what makes a pizza." and on a larger scale, "this is what makes a person."

confession: when i wrote "those bags very well may hold the water of the river styx, begging him once again to dive in," i had to take a second to ask myself what the hell i was writing.

first and foremost, let's address the obvious: this post is an insightful critique on public perception of marijuana use, and how it can affect the lives of those who dabble. tumblr user "thejorie" was in a relationship. but not with three weed smoking girlfriends. he was in a relationship with the drug itself. the girls in this case represent both his usage of the plant, as well as his mental wellbeing.
before we properly delve into things, here's a brief disclaimer. the use of marijuana is a morally neutral action. there are risks, but as long as you are of age and are doing it in a safe environment, there isn't a problem. just be responsible, like you would be with drinking. my personal take is that you should wait until you're 26 or older, but that's not why you're reading this. and now, let's move on.
anything that causes a release in dopamine can cause addiction. from video games to cocaine. and addiction isn't a moral failing, or even inherently bad if it is managed. enter thejorie, who starts the post off by bragging about his polyamourous relationship with three women who "smoke weed." this is him admitting that he himself uses the substance, though he is presumably consuming it responsibly, as we can see by his lack of aggression. at the end, we see him turn to harder drugs, being alcohol, but we'll get there.
the post begins amicable enough, with the first couple reblogs joking with each other, but then someone pokes at thejorie. this can be equated to an outsider questioning his lifestyle. a point of friction between him and the world at large. this could equate to him getting made fun of, to him being caught by law enforcement, or to him simply seeing a d.a.r.e. poster somewhere. either way, this upsets him. he wants to retaliate, but he doesn't. either his conscious holds him back, or he smokes to forget. both are represented by his girlfriends rubbing his shoulders. if it's the latter, this is the first instance we see of him turning to the substance not as a recreational drug, but as a coping mechanism. once again, while weed itself doesn't have any outwardly addicting agents such as nicotine, it does release high amounts of dopamine, which can attribute to addiction. but it's when it becomes a crutch, part of your life instead of a nice bonus, then it becomes an issue.
this next part is highly symbolic, from blaiz's "wicked tat(tattoo)," to standing outside of thejorie's home carrying "dripping brown bags."
hello kitty is a character owned by the company "sanrio." while it may seem like just the art style, the cat notably does not have a mouth so the viewer may project their own feelings onto the character, and because she speaks from the heart. she also represents innocence and pureheartedness. all this is to say that one, blaiz represents an aspect of thejorie, and two, that aspect is his innocence, like i just said. the woman known to us only as blaiz represents thejorie's innocence and wonder, a time where he wasn't afraid or angry.
but then what do the others represent? his present and future, of course. notably, thejorie is not depicted in the original photograph. you may argue that this has no meaning, as he was not the focus of the picture. but i'd argue that in the greater context of this post, there is a reason for that. because they are him. we don't get the names of the other two girls, but based on context clues, the one on the right must represent the present, as the shape on her shirt is clear, with hard lines. that means the one on the left is his hope for the future, with her shirt reminiscent of the mystery that is space. the fact that they are all dressed in marijuana-patterned clothing suggests that he uses it a lot. and it seems to be going well for him. until he faces backlash.
the dripping brown bags are a lot more vague. from a metaphorical standpoint, they could be anything. so let's look at it from a literal perspective. let's operate on the idea that the brown bags thejorie speaks of are actually paper lunch bags. many things could cause the bags to drip, but let's look at the greater context of the post. op speaks as though he knows madamekagamine. not only that, but they are someone they don't want to see again. it's extremely likely that this person represents a past addiction, maybe one that thejorie is using weed to recover from. which means those bags very well may hold the water of the river styx, begging him to once again dive in.
at this point, thejorie is already on edge. he's been taunted, and even reminded of past struggles. so it only takes a pin to set him off. his conscious tries to hold him back, but it's no use. this truly is his "BREAKING POINT." he's crying as he truly fights back against the system for the first time. he's been through a lot, and he's unleashing it. he kills two people, whether literally or metaphorically it's difficult to tell, but it doesn't really matter.
the final addition appears to take place after some time has passed. thejorie appears as a drunk. the people in the bar recognize who he is, implying he's a regular. his girlfriends have left him, and he has stopped using weed, instead graduating onto alcohol. this is his ultimate low, his darkest hour. in the end, it turns out that all he needs is support, something he never got. and it is denied to him. then, as if the universe is taking pity on him, the one who refused to help is killed by a car.
this is a tragedy. a broken man finds solace after an addiction, before the solace becomes his vice. but due to the environment around him, he is unable to take steps to remedy this. he eventually turns to harder substances such as alcohol, which may have even been his first addiction, and doesn't get any better. the post tells us to take care of each other, to not be so snide with our comments, and show compassion. but both socially and politically, weed acceptance still has a long way to go. thejorie's life wasn't destroyed by weed. it was destroyed because his girlfriends left him. and they left him because the people around him refused to help him with his issues.

My three girlfriends. And yes, they smoke weed.

i am obsessed with this blog unironically its such a good idea in both concept and execution keep up the flabbing work. and if you ever run out of posts to analyze i can suggest checking world heritage posts or tumblr heritage posts or something like that for more classics as well as whatever popular posts show up on your main dashboard since capitalizing on recent popularity could be a good way to gain noteriety as well
thank you!! the spiders georg post was found via @/world-heritage-posts, i just reblogged the original to keep the length down. i'm also currently looking for the three weed smoking girlfriends post, so i'm way ahead of you on the classic posts idea.
i'm also super open to people sending me links to posts they want me to look at, so if that's something anyone is interested in, go ahead!
as for notoriety, i'm just kinda doing the posts i think seem like fun. if i do a currently popular post it'll be because it fits my criteria. i'd rather not bend my criteria just for a couple internet points, if that makes sense.
if this blog takes off, great! if it doesn't, i'll still have a place to do this kind of stuff.

i think this is a really interesting post, because it takes the time to address a certain mentality that we as humans* possess. we will often look at numbers as fact, with little regard as to where those numbers came from. this post tells us to look deeper and think about where we source our information, and it can be applied to other things easily.
one person hating you a whole lot doesn't mean that the whole world is out to get you, that's just an anomaly, an "outlier" who does not represent the norm.
we need reminders like these to not take things at face value, and to always fact check.
“average person eats 3 spiders a year” factoid actualy just statistical error. average person eats 0 spiders per year. Spiders Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

i'm not going to unleash it upon you, but let's talk about the color of the sky.
the original post consists of a question, "Do you love the colo[...]r of the sky?" it is then followed by a long gradient of the different phases that the sky goes through before looping back to the original. it then asks, "Which one?"
simply put, it's a nightmare. it's long and makes your dash unusable. but perhaps that's the point. it shows you the beauty of our world in such an intrusive manner that you almost want to leave the app.
the post itself is telling you to look at the real sky. it proposes that we look at things for real. it forces us to look at things for real. the time spent scrolling through it is a time of annoyance, yes, but also a time for reflection. the colors of the sky also share different aspects of ourselves. the times of day that we experience. the curiosity of night, the hardships of noon. when the author asks "Which one," they're not just asking about your favorite color there, they're asking which means the most to you, specifically. which best reflects what you want to be like?
who are you, really? this post poses that question, and then asks that you answer it. it can be difficult to answer such a query, and that's why it's all presented at once. you can't be simplified down to one trait, one "Colo[...]r of the sky." we may strive to reflect the promise of a new day, but we will always experience the tranquility of twilight. all those different hues reflect the human experience in its entirety, from dawn 'til dusk.
who do you want to be? do you love the color of the sky? do you love yourself, in all your experiences? all your hardships and struggles? do you live your highs and lows? do you love the things that make you, you? the sky goes through many phases, and so have you. so you will. but it's still the sky. it's still you. it's still beautiful. you're still beautiful.
so, do you love yourself?
which you?

hello, everyone. i am the post analyst. i'm here to deconstruct posts i find interesting, and delve into what they have to say about life. what lessons do they teach? what messages do they send? i'm here to find out, and communicate them to you.
disclaimer: i am merely approaching these posts from a pseudo-philosophical standpoint. i do not claim to know the thoughts of the people making them, nor do i wish for my conclusions to be taken seriously. i'm doing this for fun, and intentionally look for silly posts with just a hint of ambiguity to them.

this post is a fantastic display of influence over the internet. with a single line, tumblr user firefox-official persuaded twelve others to spell out the phrase "kung pow penis." this phrase is already well established within the tumblr lexicon, and it doesn't take much to coax it out of people, much like op did here.
the result is a statement about how we as internet users will blindly band together to perform for "the bit." it shows that in a collective, we are less individuals, instead becoming the building blocks of something greater.
this can be interpreted in two ways:
first is that we are far too susceptible to influence. that we are no longer ourselves and instead serving anyone who would give us orders. it shows how easily we can be swayed, and that we can be swayed by such inane things.
the second interpretation, one more optimistic, is that this is an example of people coming together. not individuals succumbing to a collective, but a group of people becoming one cohesive unit to build something that they could not create on their own. a true show of unity and mutual respect. everybody played their part, and it all came together into something spectacular. something that is practically a reflex for tumblr. rather than someone in a position of power influencing their inferiors, op is merely supplying a call to action for this communal art piece.
and that's what it is. something that can be interpreted in so many different ways can only be called art.

this post speaks to the hurried mentality of everyday life. we're always thinking of where we need to be, and when we need to be there. this is in no small part to work culture under capitalism, where the everyday worker is punished for things out of their control. being cut off in traffic can easily result in your being late for work, which could cost you your livelihood.
of course, work isn't the only thing one can be late to, and this post doesn't forget that. from a metaphorical standpoint, it speaks to the importance of differing viewpoints and learning from your peers. the upset driver viewed a world in which the reader could have performed the turn. but the reader did not see that same world. it shows a lack of communication. but is that anyone's fault, really? it's not as if they can speak when they're in their separate cars on the road.
which brings us to the true meaning of this post. it is about a toxic relationship, where both people are closed off and either refusing to or unable to communicate. the road represents their relationship, and they are traveling in two separate vehicles. the driver behind the reader gets upset at them for reasons that only one of them can see, and they lash out. they both have walls, but for separate reasons. the aggressor constructed them themselves, refusing to listen to others' viewpoints. the reasoning for this is unclear, but it's sometimes like that in the real world, too. the victim, the reader, has those walls to protect themselves from the aggressor.
whether or not this is a longstanding issue or one that could be resolved through communication isn't explored. we merely receive a brief look into this world, where anything could've happened beforehand, and anything could've happened after.
but this is only one of many interpretations. this work is very open-ended, and warrants further discussion.
I, THE DRIVER BEHIND YOU AT THIS STOPLIGHT, HAVE DEDUCED THAT YOU COULD HAVE THREADED THAT LEFT TURN BETWEEN THOSE TWO CARS IF YOU FLOORED IT BEARING 92° SOUTH AND CAUGHT THE WIND.

this is a post about irony. when the driver (presumably the father, as he is the one who reveals that they are losing control,) says his first line, we expect things to turn out for the worst. however, the impact is minimal, only taking out a tail light, and the family is unharmed. the video ends with a twist, that being a semi truck rear-ending the minivan, likely killing everyone inside in a sudden and gruesome manner. it shows that some things are out of our control, that tragedy can strike in the blink of an eye, and that we can never truly be prepared for what may happen.
the overall atmosphere is uncanny, from the smoothed-over video game aesthetic, to the tiktok voices narrating the family's dialog, while the song young by the band "vacations" plays in the background. while it's easy to simply think of it as a popular tiktok song, its usage amplifies the scene. the lyrics are about futility and toughing out the hard emotions, a sentiment which fits nicely with the content of the video.
the creator used these attributes to convey a dreamlike aesthetic, incorporating contemporary humor in order to sow a disconnection with the material. it reflects the haze that one might feel if they were in this situation for themselves. this is a fascinating peak into some of the more trivialized dangers of our everyday life, and the world that we've created. a world that relies on dangerous machines, where something could go wrong at any moment. not just once, but twice. it tells you to value life a little more, because the universe is unpredictable, and you're never more than a few seconds away from realizing it for the last time.
