hello october

Last I wrote in here I was 25 and now I’m nearing 29?! Oh how fast time flew by. To be fair, almost two years of that I spent holed up in the house, pandemic happened and all that sh*t. it was like time moved too fast and too slow, days have gone into weeks into months and then bahm, two years.

Little Women movie

So I watched #LittleWomenMovie this morning... I just want to write about it, I guess. The cast is just splendid. Imagine getting to see top caliber actors and actresses in one single film with the women and being women as the center of the story, amazing. Saoirse Ronan as the lead, gosh, she is spellbinding, I adore her.

I would be lying if I said I did not root for Jo and Laurie to end up together, because I did. Even on the previous Little Women movie, I was hoping for that. I was a crying mess when Jo went up to their forest post and took back the letter she wrote. Then by the river, she tore it apart and let it adrift to the waters. I was especially a wreck when there was a flashback of their time together. I so wanted them together. Maybe its personal preference that I like stories where the lovers are also the best of friends, so I wanted them together. Maybe part of it is because of Saoirse and Timothee’s chemistry together, even in Lady Bird I saw it. But there’s also part of me that likes how Amy brings out something in Laurie. I get to see the best of Laurie when he’s with Amy, maybe because from what I see, she never took any of his bullsh*t and knows how to call him out? With Jo and Laurie, they jive together, like partners in cr*me. So maybe, just maybe, they were meant to be just the best of friends? But I appreciated Laurie, his honesty towards Jo, she needed that. 

Its heartbreaking to watch Beth pass away, she was the quiet anchor of her three sisters. She held them together, for me. Everyone has different relationships toward her but you can see how close she is to the three. When she passed, there’s this scene when Jo is in the attic and then it shifted to the time of Meg’s wedding and by the window, she sees Beth and Amy putting flower ornaments by their fence. Beth may seem quiet by demeanor but, my gosh, how strong that girl is. She can bend Jo to her will, you can’t say no to Beth March, she may be silent, but she is a force to be reckoned with.

So there’s that, bits and pieces of what I saw and felt and thought of when I watched the Little Women.
