Yellow by Coldplay
For those who have known some since forever you’d know that Coldplay is one of my favourite bands. I started listening to their songs since I was 5 or 6 and have fallen in love with them since then. I remember listening to this song for the first time and not fully understanding the lyrics but the melody stuck with me and I couldn’t stop humming it over the next few days.
Growing up as I started to understand what the song meant (or what I think it means), the lyrics resonated with me more and more. I love this song because unlike a lot of other love songs, this is one that is a message of hope. I love how the lyrics make an individual feel so loved, so beautiful and so hopeful (rather than a lot of other love songs out there that are so derogatory/cheapen an individual’s value/make an individual feel a diminished sense of self-worth and self-love) (or maybe I’m just thinking too much hmmm) 🤔
I’ve always loved the night sky and stars (and wished we could see more stars in Singapore sobs light pollution ;-;). When I was in Nepal the night skies were oh so beautiful and I was so blessed to be able to look at hundreds of stars every night :) During my time in Nepal, this song kept playing in my head too and it was one of the songs I penned down in a little journal I wrote for Shameer. Good times!
This song brings back so many memories, and I’m glad that this song (and Coldplay) has been a constant companion throughout my childhood/teenage years and even till now. Thank you Coldplay! Here’s to many more years of beautiful music and memories x

Also really glad to be able to start tumblogging. Oh how I’ve missed tumblr and all the memories I had with it.
Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah they were all yellow
I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called "Yellow"
So then I took my turn
Oh what a thing to have done
And it was all yellow
Your skin
Oh yeah, your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
You know, you know I love you so
You know I love you so
I swam across
I jumped across for you
Oh what a thing to do
'Cause you were all yellow
I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow
Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
And you know
For you I'd bleed myself dry
For you I'd bleed myself dry
It's true
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine
Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And all the things that you do

It’s been a beautiful three months
(a really condensed post because the rest is in my journal)
It really was. I don’t think I’ve ever had a more fulfilling holiday than this summer. The experiences I had, people I met, things and people I fell in love with, and encounters I had with God have been nothing short of amazing.
Australia
Where do I even begin. Spending close to a month in my favourite country was probably one of the best decisions (and investments) I’ve ever made. Thank you Gold Coast, Brisbane, Cairns, Sydney, Melbourne & Adelaide for a lovely couple of weeks. Got to drive in a foreign land for the first time (driving an auto car for the first time too) (all those road trips) (grimes) (BEHAVE) + communal living with a couple of friends + doing the craziest things ever. Not to mention having the whackiest moments too - almost getting shot by a bogen, snorkelling in the GBR for 3 whole days, getting lost on the GOR (the list is endless)
Australia, I will be back for you soon.
Mission trip to COSI (Cambodia)
Spent a couple of days in Cambodia with some of my church mates - visited an orphanage to minister to the kids over there. Even though the trip was really
SEA
Short trip to SEA with mom and bro. It was rather meaningful because it’s not everyday that I get to spend so much time with them.
The list goes on honestly. I don't think I need huge events like the above 3 to make my holiday a meaningful one. Amidst the (many) (ok la not many just very long-drawn ones) travels, there were many small encounters here and there, and (brief) conversations with people. The myriad of emotions felt - both positive and negative, and more importantly whatever that God has opened my eyes too - are things that will be etched in my mind and heart for a long, long, time.
To the people who’ve been/were a part of my summer 2016, thank you. Thank you for the memories, both good and bad. I’m eternally grateful I came to love some of you :’)
Year 3 sem 1, bring it on. Cheers to senior year!

Let someone love you just the way you are – as flawed as you might be, as unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as unaccomplished as you think you are. To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.

If you see beauty in something, don’t wait for others to agree
They may say otherwise
But it really doesn't matter
Because
My heart with pleasure fills
