As Merida spoke to Pascal he quickly hid himself in Rapunzel's hair and changed a golden yellow to camouflage, Rapunzel let out a giggle. "You've scared the poor thing." She pouted playfully. Rapunzel smiled as she held the branch for them and carried on walking. "Well...not by myself, I lived in a tower with my mother but I'm running away...its a long story."
"A girl can dream, can’t she?" The DunBroch heir teased, wrinkling her nose at Rapunzel. She arched a brow at Pascal’s scowl. "Well, yer no walk in th’ park yerself." She said as if replying to it. She grinned and turned back around to hold a protruding branch up out of the way for the two of them. "Ye just… live out here in th’ forest? By yerself?" She frowned.

"You will never be as good as me." Rapunzel chuckled. "I'm fine." She replied whilst rubbing her head gently. "He is nice when you get to know him, I promise." Rapunzel reassured her as the chameleon gave the other girl a scowl. "I’m from-" Rapunzel paused and let out a sigh, she didn’t actually know where she was from, just a tower in a forest was all she knew and besides she wasn’t planning on going back anytime soon so didn’t class it as her home anymore. "Some forest." She shrugged.

Merida couldn’t help but burst into laughter as the frying pan klonked the poor girl on the head. “Aye, Ah see it, now. Years ‘a practice. Ah can only hope tae be as good as ye.” She raised her hands rather tentatively to the blonde after the remaining giggles had subsided. “Yer alrigh’, though?” She asked. She eyed Pascal for a moment before nodding. “Chameleon, ‘a course.” She corrected herself. She took one more questioning glance towards the yards of blonde hair before continuing her march. “So, where ye from, Punz?” She inquired with the addition of the nickname. It wasn’t the worst she could have come up with. She’d handed out worse.

"I've never seen a dragon, I've read about them though...aren't they dangerous?" She asked. "I'm from-" Rapunzel paused and let out a sigh, she didn't actually know where she was from, just a tower in a forest was all she knew and besides she wasn't going back so didn't class it as her home anymore. "Some place far." She shrugged softly. "I'm moving house now anyway."
Astrid pushed her bangs from her eyes. “Yeah. We used to, well, not have them as pets but now we do. You’ve seen dragons before, surely?” She smiled slightly. “Yeah? He’s probably around here somewhere. Where are you from?”

"Hmmmm, I don't think you're skilled enough to handle one of these yet." She smirked, gesturing to her frying pan. "It takes years of practice." Rapunzel added as she spun the frying pan around using her finger before it hit her on her head. "See...years of practice." She mumbled, pretending the knock to her head didn't bother her. "Chameleon." Rapunzel corrected. "This is Pascal, my best friend." She smiled widely as the creature crawled onto the top of her head. "And the hair...well, lets save that for another time."

"Alrigh’, Ah’ll teach ye tae shoot and ye can teach me to wield a fryin’ pan." She teased in a playful tone. "Trust me, it’s far better in person." Her face beamed. The Crone’s Tooth was definitely one of her favorite spots. She turned backward as she walked as to continue the conversation. With a grin, she pointed towards the chameleon on her shoulder. "So… should Ah ask aboot the lizard and the hair, or… ?"

"I'd love for you to teach me but I doubt I'd be very good. Hey! Frying pans can come in handy!" Rapunzel chuckled, shrugging softly. Rapunzel raised an eyebrow as the girl ate the apple which had been on the floor. "Okay! I've read about the Crone's Tooth in a book once!" She replied, a large grin appearing on her lips as she bent down to pick up Pascal, placing him on her should before skipping besides the girl, letting her hair trail behind her.
Merida beamed at the girl’s amazement. “Ah’ve been shootin’ since Ah was small. Ma dad taught me. Ah could teach ye, if ye want. Ye cannae do much wi’ a fryin’ pan.” She said, pointing to the metal cookware. She walked around the girl and picked up the apple, dislodging it from the arrow and taking a bite out of it. “Ah, well then Ah’ve gotta show ye the Crone’s Tooth. Bes’ part ‘a th’ whole forest.” She tossed the partially consumed apple over her shoulder and turned to start walking. “C’mon.”

"Dragon? You have a dragon!? As a pet!?" Rapunzel gasped, jumping back slightly. "Well, he is only small and blends in well." She shrugged softly. "No, I'm not from around here."
" Oh, I’ve never lost my dragon before. Then again, dragons are big. How did you even lose him? You’re not from around here, are you?" Astrid tilted her head, unsure if she could trust this stranger.

Rapunzel opened one eye and watched the girl closely, she let out a gasp as she saw the arrow leave the bow. The arrow hit the apple perfectly and Rapunzel opened her eyes fully, staring at the other in shock and amazement. "How did you learn to do that!?" She questioned, gesturing to her bow. "I'm Rapunzel and uh, well...I'm out exploring." She mumbled, deciding not to mention her mother or the tower.
The arrow whizzed through the air, puncturing the apple that sat peacefully on top of the princess’ head. The Scot grinned at her handiwork as the apple fell harmlessly into the dirt. “Haha, yes!” She paused to look at the girl. “I’m Merida… So… What’re ye doin’ all th’ way out ere?”
