Heya! Big fan, and I'd like to know a bit more about this universe that our rat fellows live in! Is it basically just our world but with rats? Or are there some things that are changed or removed? Do humans exist? Do regular rats exist?

Hi hi Anony-mouse!

This is a HUGE question to fit an answer into a short tumblr ask, however, I will do my best!!

For some brief answers, there are absolutely some things that are changed and removed! Off the top of my head, the geography and continent names are different (Theratpy takes place in the continent of Gnaw), certain technology does not exist, existent religions and religious beliefs, and languages have clear differences from our world. A fun one is that the color green doesn't exist, nor subsequent green combinations such as teal (blue-green) or chartreuse (yellow-green). It is also populated by domestic/fancy rats and mice exclusively, and those are the only two rodents we'll see!

Most of this might raise more questions than answers them, but!! fortunately, there's more text available in the Official Theratpy Discord server (Check my Linktree for a link to join), under the #Lore-Ask tab! It is the quickest way to find an answer to questions you might have by using the search function and poking around, OR by asking a question there as well!! I adore you guys's asks on Tumblr as well of course, it just takes me longer to get to them!

Have you considered looking into having the series be fully voice acted? I saw your repost on Twitter of a fan-made fully va’d segment, and there’s official ones with some vocal sounds— I love both and Theratpy overall!

Hello hello Whelpidk,

I have considered it! Unless my series is desired by a major platform that would require it (something like Netflix or Hulu), I don't believe I'll have full voice acting done officially. I really enjoy a video-game feel like how Dream Daddy did with just a hint of what they sound like, and the rest can be up to the imagination! I have so much fun hearing other people's vocal choices, I hate to take away the ability to fandub.

The other thing is, I'm SO incredibly picky especially when it comes to Dr. Zo. I'm picky with Ratticus too, but Dr. Zo has been killer to find an exact match for whatever is going on in my brain for him! So if I ever do settle on someone and do have either full voice acting or even just more lines done for emphasis now and then, it'll be someone picked with great care! :)

Hi roenters!!

I use Toon Boom Harmony Essentials! I was very lucky when I was younger, my grandma bought it for me and I have used it ever since :,)) Before it I used Flipnote Hatena, and before that I used post-it notes and hand-drew little flipbooks!

If you are committing to this software, I recommend the one-time purchase! If my software was a monthly or yearly subscription, that would stress me out 😱 But it does have an option to buy just a month of use if you want to get a feel for it! It has functions for blurring and softer color usage, but I rarely use them as I don't know how to use them super well nor do I know just how much it is capable of with that sort of stuff. It does what I need it to do very well, which is 2d animation with generally flat colors done by hand!

Here is a short screencap of a Theratpy page update I just finished for my Devoted+ patrons, flicking thru my layers and a couple basic software functions:

Ratticus rides home from his second session of therapy with his mom, trying and failing to stay calm when faced with her increasingly probing questions and worrying words of warning.

The webseries "Theratpy" follows a rat therapist named Dr. Zo as he helps his new client, Ratticus, with his intrusive thoughts, which range from a comedic nuisance to horribly disturbing.
