Quick ooc sentence: I was gonna do this a little different. But with... recent developments, this has taken a new light :)

Kheel remembers. As she sobs into the cold, she remembers the last time she felt this way.

The wind howls. The snow obscures her vision. She can make out the blurry silhouette of her mom just in front of her.

Her mom pauses suddenly, and Kheel peels past her. She panics, trying to flap her small wings to get back to her mom. Fortunately, her mom notices, and dives at her in an embrace.

They both land in the soft, freezing cold, snow. Kheel doesn't ever remember the snow being this deep. Well, the blizzard explains that. She feels a tug on her wing and looks up at her mom.

"Kheel! Into this cave! You'll be safe in here until I come back." Her mom's familiar voice rings out through the howling storm. The winds are so strong and the snow so blinding that Kheel is barely able to process her mother's voice.

She feels tugging, she stumbles and flails around. Until everything is suddenly calm.

The snow is no longer buffeting against her feathers, and the wind isn't threatening to sweep her off her feet.

She's in a cave.

Her mom suddenly sweeps her into a hug. "I love you, Kheel. I'll be back for you as soon as possible."

Kheel doesn't know how to explain the feeling in her chest. This overwhelming feeling. It's a period. The end to a sentence. One that she's afraid will never continue again.

Mom is starting to pull away.

Her arms tighten around mom. "Please! Mom, please don't leave! I love you! I love you so don't leave!"

"I'm sorry. I need to find your sisters."

Kheel's arms are being torn away... No... "NO!! PLEASE!"

Her sobs cut through the wind's cries. Her pleas are desperate.

But mom doesn't listen.

And Kheel's arms are wrenched away.

She collapses to the ground as she watches her mother leave.

Never to be seen again.

...

And now...

Tulin had found her. Tulin is the reason Kheel is even alive. He was so optimistic. He was so caring.

And NOW-

She never thought he would do something like this. She never got the chance to beg.

She never thought he would leave.

She never thought he would choose to leave.

Tulin light up the bleak situation. It looks like everyone else is dead. And Tulin clung to the belief that they weren't. He found her when she lost all hope.

She wanted to do the same.

Kheel had really, really, wanted to do the same. In fact, she was trying to do the same thing when she... found him instead.

His body.

Tulin lies lifeless. Blood stains his feathers and pools beneath him. He's cold. Colder than the freezing world around her.

And she sobs.

"Why?! Why did you leave?"

The only answer is the desolate wind.
