The Vinyl Tag : 2019
I’ve been wanting to do this forever but never had an excuse to, until now! Here’s my Vinyl tag! I love watching other people do them, so let’s go:
*Disclaimer - I didn’t create this tag! Credit to the original creator*
Question 1 : How many records do you own?
4, 10″ Records
11, 7″ Records
79, 12″ Records
94 Records total - A relatively small collection but growing :)
Question 2 : What record player do you own?
Unfortunately, I still have my Crosley Cruiser - however, I’m saving to upgrade as we speak.
Question 3 : How old were you when you first started collecting?
I got my first record when I was 13-14 I believe.
Question 4 : What’s the oldest record you own?
Tumblr media
Led Zeppelin - IV
This was my Dad’s when he was a teenager, so it’s extra special to me. The copyright is 1971, of course that doesn’t mean that’s when it as pressed but as far as my knowledge on age of records, this is my oldest one.
Questions 5 and 6 : What was your first ever record? What was the first record you bought with your own money?
Tumblr media
5 Seconds of Summer - Sounds Good Feels Good
Both my first ever record and the first record I bought with my own money back in 2015, 5SOS was my favorite band for the longest time and I knew I needed to get this one to start my collection. I bought my first record player and played this baby all the time. Unfortunately, it’s only in standard black pressing, but it still has a special place in my heart. :)
Question 7 : Favorite Colored Vinyl?
Tumblr media
Waterparks - Entertainment
Ugh, this pressing is gorgeous! I love the combination of the transparency, the pink splatter and the fuchsia speckles. Fun fact, this record showed up at my door early from the preorder so I listened to it before the actual album release date, oops. Still, a beautiful pressing.
Question 8 : A discount album?
Tumblr media
Emily’s Army - Lost at Seventeen
The Rise Records website was having a vinyl sale online and I scooped this one up. I love the marble pressing and of course, the boys (Now in SWMRS) killed this record and it’s one of my favorites. If you like SWMRS, I highly recommend Emily’s Army.
Question 9 : Your prized possession?
Tumblr media
The Wrecks - Panic Vertigo (Signed!)
I had a few to choose from, but this is my only vinyl signed by all members of the band, let alone all 5. I got this guy as soon as I saw it on sale online and it’s forward and on display in my room. Yes, it normally has a clear protector. Plus, that bubblegum vinyl is so fun to spin.
Question 10 : A record by a female artist
Tumblr media
Halsey - Badlands
Honestly, I had more records by female-fronted bands but I wasn’t sure if that counted so here's one of my first records. :) I love the design and feel of the album, especially that soft baby pink pressing. Overall, an album that I still like and listen to once in a while.
Question 11 : A Record from your Favorite Band
Tumblr media
Depeche Mode - People are People (Single)
I cycled through at least 6 possible records for this category. I tend to cycle through “favorite” bands and I have quite a few. Depeche Mode, however, is a band that means a lot to me and it actually my mom’s favorite band, so this is a nod to her as well. My mom’s good friend actually found this one for me while we were all visiting a record store in Pittsburgh, so I can’t take credit for finding this one!
Question 12 : An Impulse Buy
Tumblr media
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
Kind of an impulse buy, vinyl sure as hell ain’t cheap so I fight may impulse urge and buy CD’s instead (oops). But, if you saw my recent NYC haul, I picked up this bad boy as soon as I walked in the door and carried it around the whole time. usually I shuffle through, put things back, add things, but this one I picked up and kept the whole time. Kind of an impulse? Sure it counts.
Question 13 : A Gifted Record
Tumblr media
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
My dad got this album for me for Christmas and it’s one of my favorites. A staple in any Vinyl collection. The Bifold itself has an almost velvety finish on the outside and it’s completely matte. Such a masterpiece of an album and a beautiful record all together.
Question 14 : Your Most Played Record
Tumblr media
All Time Low - Put Up Or Shut Up
I try to give all my records some love, but when I first got this record a few years ago, I played it nearly every day. Still absolutely love this EP and it gets some good playtime. Unfortunately, this was before I discovered the amazing world of colored pressings, but still one of my favorites. :)
Question 15 : A Rarity
Tumblr media
Mt Eddy - Chroma
This might not be the rarest Vinyl in my collection, but I know for sure this one is a rare one. This blue pressing of Mt Eddy’s album Chroma, now under the name “Ultra Q”. Honestly, I’m not sure what happened to the band, whether they changed names or created a whole new project, but nevertheless I love this album, I love this pressing, and I’m happy I got my hands on a first batch of this rare blue pressing. :)
Questions 16 : A Rainy Day Record
Tumblr media
Froth - Outside (Briefly)
A lot of people have the idea of a good rainy day record, but rainy days for me are gentle, calm and mellow. I love the side and just breathe and relax near the window and just exist. This record is playing in the background. I love Froth and their music is so layered and has so much depth to it, but you can also have it soft in the background. By the way, the drips on the cover are part of the art, not stains/damage!
Question 17 : A Feel Good Album
Tumblr media
Green Day - Dookie
Talk about an absolute classic! I remember listening to this album when I was little all the way through my school years and I’ll always have it with me when I need some picking up and to just jam out. So many good memories with this badass, iconic album.
Question 18 : A Nostalgia Record
Tumblr media
R.E.M. - The One I love (12″ Single)
I picked this promo copy of The One I Love at one of my favorite record shops and it reminded me of both learning to play guitar, I learned this song in class, and my mom, a big R.E.M. fan. A great song, a great band, and some great memories.
Question 19 : A Record Store Day Purchase
Tumblr media
The Wonder Years  - Live from Maida Vale
Okay, confession, I don’t have a record store near me so this was not purchased on Record Store Day. However! One day I will, and this was a Record Store Day 2019 Exclusive. I’ve been really getting into The Wonder Years and this bone white pressing is so pretty to play. The more I listen to this record, the more I love it.
Question 20 : A Recent Purchase
Tumblr media
Green Day - Kerplunk
Not only another Green Day album, but another album a bought in NYC! This album is underrated and I’m so stoked to have it on vinyl. It even came with the original 7″ single so, I kinda had to get it, right?
Thank you so, so much for reading! Tag me if you decide to do your own and I’ll see you guys in the next one.

Music Haul #2 : NYC Edition!
The last stop on my summer vacation outing was New York City. I cannot describe to you how much I feel at home in the city. That’s a different topic for another day, also not related to music hauls. I knew I had to stop at at least one Record Store, and that happened to be Rock and Soul in Manhattan. I picked up some good ones, so let’s go:
Tumblr media
Green Day  - Kerplunk
A criminally underrated album, this is one of my favorites and I’m so hyped to have it on vinyl. All of the details of the cover art and the sticker on the record itself make this album a perfect one to put up on display. In addition, this repressing came with the original 7″:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Wonder Years - Live from Maida Vale
A 2019 Record Store Day exclusive, I’ve been into The Wonder Years for awhile and I was so excited to see this one tucked away in a rack of RSD pressings. The bone white color is so pretty and the sound of their live session with that record pop and scratch? It’s perfect.
Tumblr media
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
Iconic. This was the first record that caught my eye as soon as I walked in. I love this record and I think, for me, it’s a staple. I love the coloring of the album art itself, too. Unfortunately, the first record is slightly warped and skips a little on the outer songs. However, I’m sure there’s a way to fix that. :)
Tumblr media
Dear Evan Hansen - Original Broadway Cast Recording
I had the honor later that day to see Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway and, let me just say my eyes were not dry for a second. That being said, I had to pick up the gorgeous blue pressing of the soundtrack... okay and maybe the CD too.

Song Review!
The 1975 - The 1975 (NOACF)
Released July 23, 2019
The 1975 have returned shortly after the release of their third studio album - A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships - They continue their pattern of including a song with the title “The 1975″ on their albums, but this one for their forthcoming album, has a powerful twist. This is The 1975 (Notes on a Conditional Form) Edition, let’s go:
Song Overview - Wow. This song is revolutionary. The 1975 have steadily evolved from songs about sex and love and dazed tunes to a platform being used for change, and that is incredible. The instrumentals of this song are consistent with their other self titled tracks, however, the powerful words from Greta Thunberg, a 16 year old environmental activist, create an emotional and calm speech. The sheer power of this song moves the listener. We are here, and we have a decision. Listen to this song, not only because the proceeds go to Extinction Rebellion, but because you will be a different person. This track is beautiful. It is time to rebel.
What’d you think of this song? Have a song you want me to review? Just shoot me an ask! It’s always open to hear from you guys. I’ll talk to you in the next one!

Music Haul #1 : Beach Edition!
I just recent got back from a few weeks break, most of that time was at the beach. One of my favorite music places at the beach I travel to, SSR Music at the Outer Banks in North Carolina, is a must stop for sure. :) Here’s a little haul of some CD’s a picked up, Let’s go!
Tumblr media
Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The Way
This CD has some of my favorite Chili Peppers songs and it was a reasonable price! Don’t Stop and Don’t Forget Me being a few of my favorites from this one. :)
Tumblr media
Tame Impala - Currents
I’m shocked I didn’t have this one in my collection yet, on any format! Found this paper back copy, the only one in the Tame Impala section and it fills a void only this album could fill in my CD collection.
Tumblr media
Green Day - ¡Uno!
Not my favorite Green Day album, hell not even my favorite of the Trilogy - however! There are some great ones on this track and it’s a promo copy! Not only did that make it cheaper, because technically it’s used, but it has a special charm to it. Some collectors don’t really care about promo copies but I think it gives it an extra little story to it, and sometimes the song titles and sounds vary. I don't believe that’s the case with this CD, but it’s a rad addition to the collection in my eyes.
Tumblr media
The Cure - Strawberry Kisses
I was so excited when I found this one, a German import of Strawberry Kisses! I’m assuming it’s a German import as it says “Made in Germany” on the back, but I’m not sure how to confirm it. Nevertheless, this CD is my favorite of this group of CDs I found this day and damn, it’s a cool find.
Thanks for reading! Messages always open, let’s talk! For now, I’ll see you guys in the next one. :)

Album Review!
With Confidence - Love and Loathing
Released August 10th, 2018
Every time I’ve seen these boys live they’ve blown me away, their energy and passion is contagious and this, their sophomore album, was one of my favorites of 2018, so let's go:
Track 1 : That Something - The leading single that gets you going! A high energy jam! I love that the boys came back strong in this song, Jayden Seeley’s vocals and Bass work have clearly grown and Josh Brozzesi’s drum beat? Killer on this track! I think That Something was a great choice for their leading single. I was going hard to this one live for sure!
Track 2 : Sing To Me - A song that goes straight into the heart. The struggle of anxiety-ridden young love, this song is gentle enough to comfort and energizing enough to pull you back out of your head. Guitarist Inigo del Carmen comes in on the bridge of this track to add some pretty and powerful harmonies! An underrated song on this one.
Track 3 : Moving Boxes - Perhaps their most listened to single on the album. I remember listing to this song for the first time as I was taking the bus back home after a shitty shift at work. This song at first glance it looks like this song is simply about failed love, however, if you look deeper at the lyrics, it’s a statement on how we are not tied to our memories. A cool meaning in an upbeat song. More singing from Inigo in this track too1
Track 4 : The Turnaround - A sweet song laced with optimism. I love Jayden’s vocals in this track, he does so well with capturing the emotions as he sings. Favorite lyrics : Breathe it in and breathe it out / Know the air will clean you out / Now or never, here and now / Let's make today the turnaround There’s always a fresh start around the corner, just need to take a second and breathe.
Track 5 : Jaded - A step on this gas after The Turnaround, I love the angry passion in this track. No matter what you do, sometimes you just won’t be a match for someone. Jayden himself says this song is about himself, not giving attention to a relationship that desperately needed it. Despite the dark theme, this song is one to go hard to, let me tell you. I love the stripped down bridge as well! Just Jayden’s voice, then the guitar, then the layered vocals. A cool touch for sure!
Track 6 : Better - First off, I love the keys in the beginning. The crippling feeling of being worthless in a relationship breaks people down and the boys show that well in this track. Favorite lyrics : Know that I have hit the ground / A tiny space to crawl around / Wish that I could find myself / Am I a lost cause, honey? Again, the emotion Jayden captures is so pretty and relatable, I love it!
Track 7 : Spinning - The beautiful guitar in the beginning of this song captures my attention instantly. Much like the ups and downs of love, this song reflects how crazy it really can be when you’re with someone you care so deeply about. Also, the drums in this track! Criminally under appreciated, Josh. We also have a guitar solo in this one! A great addition if I do say so, especially going right back into that guitar riff from the intro.
Track 8 : Bruise - One of, if not, my favorite tracks on this record. A beautiful guitar intro, Jayden’s different soft vocal style. The chorus : So let go of me And everything we should have seen / And you'll go and be everything you need to be / And I honestly wish that I could say I've let you go The ending where Jayden sort of lingers on that last note? So damn good. Of course, we’re pressing on a bruise just to feel something Is a line that resonates deep. A beautiful track.
Track 9 : Pâquerette (Without Me) - Okay I take it back, this is my favorite track. A song about acceptance. You hardly hear songs that sings of the final stage of a breakup - Ending on a good note, wishing the best for someone you have a great deal of love for. Not to mention that sweet acoustic guitar with the bassline, I love it. This could be seen as a continuation of Bruise, and I think that makes this song even more special.
Track 10 : Icarus - Inigo really gets to shine in this song! I love his vocals and what they bring to this track and the album in general. I love the passion he has too, you can see it live. The sharp guitars are so rad in this song too! An underrated track for sure. I love the power in the chorus as well, it’s a unique song on the album. Favorite lyrics : Please remember me, I was seventeen Break your neck, break your neck / Break your neck and follow I love the mythology reference too, a great comparison. Also can I just say the outro where Inigo really tears into the words is so damn beautiful to listen to
Track 11 : Dopamine - This song reminds me most of their previous album Better Weather but in a developed way. They’ve clearly grown so much as a band and this song shows that. There's no doubt the warm fuzzy feeling you get from the person you love, the dopamine in your brain that makes you happy. A cute little love song.
Track 12 : Tails - Okay, I lied again this track... might be my favorite With Confidence song. I couldn’t think of a better way to wrap up an album about the ups and downs, the love and loathing, in life and with the ones we hold close. Jayden’s vocals are so soft, the guitar is catchy and the drums are strong and powerful as always. I could listen to this song 10 times and think of something new I love each time. The ending, of both the song and the album : Think love and loathing's all I've got / Sometimes I think it's all I want I cannot say how much I love this track.
Album Overview - Clearly the boys of With Confidence have proven that they can come back stronger than ever. Jayden’s vocals, bass and lyric work have grown so much, gained so much depth. They have stayed in touch with their roots while growing still. Inigo, apart from being a wicked guitarist, sang a lot more and I hope he keeps that up, because it fuckin’ works. Josh’s drum beats are, again, the backbone to a lot of this album and he deserves credit where credit is due! An album that blew away my expectations.
Let me know what you think of this album! If you have an album you’d like me to review, shoot me an ask! Until then, I’ll talk to you guys in the next one. :)

Why Physical Music?
A question that I’m sure many fellow music collectors have gotten - It’s 2019, you don’t need to buy vinyl, CD, cassettes, etc. we have the music world at our fingertips! Personally, that’s one of the many reasons why I collect music. Here are 5 out of hundreds of reasons why someone might enjoy collecting physical music, if you encounter an asshole or a curious friend, Let’s go:
*Disclaimer: These are all my own opinions, not meant to make anyone feel bad about not collecting physical music, just an explanation and perhaps an inspiration. Thanks so much!*
Reason 1 : The Sound - Yeah, duh. But hear me out! I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “You can’t beat the sound of a vinyl record!” and they’d be correct. The small crackles and pops of spinning a vintage record add so much to your favorite albums. It creates a new layer to a song you’ve heard one or countless times before. CD’s themselves have a really nice sound quality to them too! Cassettes are more of a hit or miss, but if you get a good one - they sound just as good as a CD or digital.
Reason 2 : The Art - One of my favorite things to do it go through my physical music and just look. Look at the cover art, the lyric booklets/sheets, the Vinyl/CD/cassette itself - I love looking at the aesthetic the artist chose, why they did, how it portrays the music or what the band was thinking while they were creating this album. If it’s vintage it’s even a piece of history. If you don’t already know, I have frames I put my vinyl in so that the album art faces out and my CD I have displayed on my wall open so that I can see as much of the art as I can. What a dork.
Reason 3 : The Experience - Spending your hard earned dollars on a CD, taking it home and looking at the art, popping it in your player and enjoying an album that means a little something to you. Is it the most convenient? Of course not, not in 2019 - but if I had the option of listening to an album on Apple Music or Vinyl, well you know the answer. Music is so much more personal when you own it and can hold it in your hand.
Reason 4 : The Support - Every time I go to a show, I try to pick up at least a CD, sometimes their vinyl if I really dig the artist and knowing that not only does that money go into their pockets, I get a piece of the concert to take home with me? It’s one of my favorite feelings.
Reason 5 : The Satisfaction - Much like with any other collection, with physical music you get to build your own music library. Vintage music you get from family or small mom and pop places in your town/when you travel, shiny new music you get on release days or Record Store Day, music you pick up at a local or big time how or concert, all of the above are specially elements that contribute to making a collection of music unique to you. Where you’ve been, who you know, what you like - your music collection is a staple of who you are and grows with you, and that is pretty fucking cool.
I’m not trying to convince you to delete every music app you have on your phone - Of course I use Spotify, etc. to stream music. - it’s convenient, instant and sounds pretty good. However, no app could replicate all of the above and that is why physical music is my preferred listening platform, when I can of course.
Tell me about your collections! Why do you collect physical music? Why don’t you? Let me know! See you guys in the next one. :)

Song Review!
twenty one pilots - Cut My Lip (40.6782°N, 73.9442°W)
Released (on YouTube) July 10, 2019
These location sessions Tyler did recently are so absolutely beautiful and capture the raw emotion of these songs, I’m in love! Let’s go:
Song Review - This song is one of my favorites from Trench and to hear it in this bare bone/broken down raw way was incredible! You can hear Tyler enjoying what he does, recording pieces and putting them together in an intricate and captivating way. The bridge, the most eh part of the song for me, he stripped down and added layered vocals to make it sound so different from the original! I highly recommend you watching the video of him recording and playing these location sessions songs because it’s so incredibly inspiring. The things Tyler can do with his voice, you can tell he loves what he does. Typically, excessive autotune makes me cringe, but the way Tyler uses it to create a “new” song has changed my views on the use of autotune in the music production world. In this session, he also did a few other songs, I’ll link it at the end for you! A beautiful version of a beautiful song. :)
Watch the twenty one pilots Location Sessions here!
What’d you think of this song? Have a song you want me to review? Just shoot me an ask! It’s always open to hear from you guys. I’ll talk to you in the next one!

Album Review!
Marina (and the Diamonds) - Electra Heart
Released April 27, 2012
A bit of a throwback, MARINA’s sophomore album was a staple in my freshman year playlist and I thought what better to complement MARINA’s most recent album than do my favorite of her releases (Based on my CD copy trackless and Spotify)- Let’s go:
Track 1 : Bubblegum Bitch - Right off the bat we have a high energy jam. You can’t no feel badass blasting this song. Marina’s iconic singing style comes in with the power and drive that carries the whole album. I love the echoing vocals and the seductive sounding instrumentals, it wraps the song together perfectly! Welcome to the life of Electra Heart. This song also does a nice job of setting the stage for the songs that come up later in the album, a great first track!
Track 2 : Primadonna - The album’s lead single, this song follows in Bubblegum BItch’s shoes. I love the keys and mixing on this song, it pairs so well with Marina’s vocal style! Electra Heart’s ego complex is strong in this one, addicted to drama: Living life like I'm in a play / In the limelight I want to stay / I know I've got a big ego / I really don't know why it's such a big deal though The acoustic guitar in the bridge with the build up is my favorite part, for sure.
Track 3 : Lies - A bit of a slower song, you can feel the weight in Marina’s voice. Calling out the narrator’s significant other on their cowardice is conveyed clearly in the lyrics: You only ever touch me in the dark / Only if we're drinking can you see my spark I love the feeling this song radiates, you close your eyes and sway, letting the anger build in your chest - it’s so interesting and I love what she was able to do with it!
Track 4 : Homewrecker - Gotta love the spoken intro on the track! The third sister to Primadonna and Bubblegum Bitch, it’s a callout to this who play the victim and Marina said herself she wanted to “turn the tables.” I absolutely love her vocals in the track especially, it even sounds seductive and powerful - a strong song with a beautiful acapella at the end? So damn good.
Track 5 : Starring Role -  One of my favorite tracks, Marina put it best herself: “You don’t want to live in reality. That’s why you’re an artist. You’re on the run.” The way Marina uses her voice to convey such intricate feelings in the listener, it’s such a cool thing to experience as you listen to her music. The percussion in this track is steady and strong. The bridge on this song is interesting- creating a different sound and a different power behind her voice.
Track 6 : The State Of Dreaming - I learned this song is actually inspired by Marilyn Monroe which explains the detailed references. It’s such a unique tracks and I think it’s criminally unrelated. I Loe what Marina did with this one and it’s lyrics: All I really want is to be wonderful / People in this town they, they can be so cruel one of Monroe’s famous quotes that display the parallel between the album’s “character” Electra Heart and Marilyn Monroe herself. Overall, a track that deserves a listen two fold.
Track 7 : Power & Control - Ugh I absolutely love her vocals on this track especially. The intro is light and mischievous and it comes in strong with the harmonies in the back - You cannot be bored listening to Marina sing her heart out. One sided relationships are tackled in the cracks of this song. I love the mixing on this tracks s well, the beat gets me every time! Steady and strong.
Track 8 : Sex Yeah - A “call for action” for our society’s virgin-mother-whore complex - pick one and deal with it. I love how point blank and “fuck you” this song is! The chorus: If history could set you free (from who you were supposed to be) / If sex in our society (didn't tell a girl who she would be) / 'Cause all my life I've tried to fight what history has given me wraps up this songs intent perfectly - an anthem for women and girls everywhere.
Track 9 : Teen Idle - Another one of my favorites, the pun in the title is a perfect start for this track. I love the repetitive reference to herself as “I”  in the verse, it captures the narcissistic ideology with the crippling insecurity lurking below. The gentle keys in this song with, of course, Marina’s powerful vocals create a dark vibe in this track. I’m sure I’m not the only woman who can relate to what she’s explaining in this track.
Track 10 : Valley of the Dolls - Talk about a dark vibe. The hollow vocals and steady clapping in the background capture an empty void feeling. One of my favorite sets of lyrics from the verse : Pick a personality for free / When you feel like nobody We’re all trying to become someone, whether that’s our most authentic selves or the complete opposite, we all have artificial parts to ourselves. One of my favorite tracks, yet again.
Track 11 : Hypocrates - A change of pace, this song is more sweet and gentle sounding. I adore the fun things she does with her voice in the chorus, trills maybe? I’m not completely sure but I dig it either way. Favorite lyrics :  Yeah you played the martyr for so long / That you can’t do anything wrong The narrator’s partner is constantly calling her out for issues when they have plenty on their own. There’s also a great guitar solo type break! I love it.
Track 12 : How to be a Heartbreaker -  A break in style, this one is similar to the trio of songs. Apparently this track is only on the American version of the album, but it’s a fun one none the less. If you need a break from the more heavy and altered songs, this song does that for you. I love the breakdown with the mixing and the bouncy beat. Sometimes playing dumb and hard-to-get I the path of least resistance: We don't want our hearts to break, in two / So it's better to be fake / Can't risk losing in love again, babe Such a fun track :).
Track 13 : Radioactive - First of all, a really cool intro! This track showcases Marina’s vocals against a more simple, yet catchy instrumental. A fun, catchy track I could hear on a summer song playlist. The outro is one of my favorite parts : My heart is nuclear / Love is all that I fear So point blank and a different ending to this song. The bridge too, I love the classic pop instrumentals. An underrated one for sure.
Track 14 : Fear and Loathing - The emotion in this song is so strong I absolutely love it. You can feel the turning point of the narrator in this song and it’s a perfect choice as a resolution to the album (the standard version, anyway) Favorite verse: Got different people inside my head / I wonder which one that they like best / I'm done with tryna have it all / And ending up with not much at all I felt these lyrics deep in my core. This is perhaps the strongest track on the whole album, so beautiful.
Album Overview - This album is full of powerful messages, internal struggles and resolutions that make the audience feel for the narrator entirely. From more humorous and bouncy tracks to ones that you could read about for hours, MARINA came in with this album and blew expectations out of the water. I think she did a fantastic job and I’m honored to have this album in my memories and my music collection!
Let me know what you think of this album! If you have an album you’d like me to review, shoot me an ask! Until then, I’ll talk to you guys in the next one. :)

Summer Playlist 2019 (Part 2!)
A continuation of Part 1, Part 2 of my Summer playlist 2019, baby! 20 more songs I vibe to on these hot summer days. (In no particular order) Let’s go:
The Doors : Hello, I Love You -  An oldie but a goodie, you can’t help but vibe to this cutesie song. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy like the sunburn I inevitably get day 1 on the beach.
Duran Duran : Girls On Film - I’m a huge fan of Duran Duran and when I heard this song in Stranger Things, I was reminded of it’s disgustingly 80s sound. You havegto listen to this song with obnoxious sunglasses with the window’s down, it’s a rule.
Fall Out Boy : A band near and dear to my heart (MANIA who?) I had to put some of my favorites:
Dead On Arrival - A staple in the FOB discography and a jam from beginning to end. It takes me back to summers in middle school, which, take that as you will.
Saturday - Another older song that brings me into the pit of a summer concert, so damn good and dare I say, a classic.
Twin Skeleton’s (Hotel in NYC) - A more eerie song, but one of my favorites from American Beauty/American Psycho and one that is far too underrated.
Weezer : Island in the Sun - I mean, do I really even need to explain this one? Cocktail in one hand and sand in your suit this song is there for you.
Royal Blood : I Only Lie When I Love You - Top yourself a favor and listen to Royal Blood and start with this song. it’s impossible to not feel badass when you blast this one.
Green Day : Burnout - Another song that needs no explanation, rock the fuck out to this entire album! But, Burnout is a good one to give you a taste on your own playlist.
Toadies : Possum Kingdom - This song would come on the radio on long drives to the beach and I suppose that’s why it’s one of my favorites and a perfect edition to this playlist.
Arctic Monkeys : Alex Turner has a voice worthy of it’s own playlist, but here are some great AM songs for your summer days.
Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair - This song reminds me of the summer days where it’s almost too hot to breathe, rocking on the porch and people watching.
Fluorescent Adolescent - A classic AM song and one that deserves a place on this list. Takes you back to teenage summers and wasting hours of your life doing absolutely nothing, but remembering having a damn good time.
The 1975 : A band that never fails, here are some songs that drip with summer vibes
Girls - Matty Healy’s vocals are some of my favorite and Girls is a song that makes you want to forget about everything and dance.
Sex - This song has a special place in my heart, the first 1975 song I heard and I fell in love. A warm vibe to this track, for sure.
The Sound - A mocking song for the band, it’s one to jam to any time of day and you can’t hate a song that pokes fun at itself.
Love It If We Made It - Talk about a fuck you anthem, I love artists that use their platform to take about the shit no one else will and this song does just that. If you need motivation the summer, give this song a listen.
Wallows : Are You Bored Yet? Ft. Clairo - A soft kind of love song for those summer sunset kind of nights - It’s hard not to imagine fireflies when you hear this track.
Depeche Mode : A band that means a lot to me, I couldn’t not include them on this list!
Strangelove - A more popular track, this one always puts me in a good mood, especially when spirits are down in the summer heat.
People Are People - Another song about societal issues, blast this one when the world is getting you down.
Paramore : Two tracks from After Laughter, (Review out now!) I couldn’t let them go without their spotlights:
Rose-Colored Boy - A song about blind optimism, dance to this track and feel not alone in your struggle to keep going through that seasonal slump.
Pool - A dark love song that practically shows the blue ripples of the pool below as you drift off.
What’s on your summer playlist? Let me know! Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in the next one :)
A special thank you to ARTV on youtube for the inspiration!

Album Review!
Paramore - After Laughter
Released May 12, 2017
Of course, I’ve been a fan of Paramore since the emo days and this album blew me away! I love the direction they chose to go and they really knocked it out of the park with this one - Let’s go:
Track 1 : Hard Times - The debut single from this album had people torn. People don’t like change however, and this track is massively different from “Old” Paramore. Not only is this song a summer jam, but it encompasses the theme of the whole album and introduces the listener to that right out of the gate. Hayley Williams seems to have reinvented herself and you can feel that energy in this song. Also, the 80s aesthetic and sound influences in this track especially re ones that can’t be ignored.
Track 2 : Rose-Colored Boy - Perhaps my favorite track on the album, this one is album toxic and drained blind optimism. Not just that, but the percussion on this track! Zac Farro, Taylor York and Hayley herself are all credited with bringing this song to life and damn do they do a great job! This song speaks to the feeling everyone, I’m sure, has felt at some point. Sometimes you need someone to cry with and to let you cry instead of offering a pair of rose-colored glasses.
Track 3 : Told You So - The feeling of being under a microscope as people watch your every move, waiting for you to fuck up is encompassed in this happy-sounding-song-with-dark-lyrics track. Zac said he really liked the visuals this song presented and I can see what he means! I love the gentle background vocals and the keyboard work! I like that this song was a single from the album, it deserved it.
Track 4 : Forgiveness - Slowing it down a little bit, I can’t help but fall in love with Hayley’s vocals and lyric work on this song: And you, you want forgiveness  (I can barely hang on to myself) / But I, I can't give you that The ups and downs Hayley and the band have been through in previous years is laced in this track with soft drum beats and light keys make this song a gentle hand on your shoulder.
Track 5 : Fake Happy - This might be the most relatable song on the whole album, we’re all fake happy. Putting on the. mask to hide behind the world that most days isn’t worth showing true emotions. Hiding behind a mask is easier than opening the door for shit to get in or see you struggling: Oh please, don’t ask me how I’ve been / don’t make me play pretend This song makes you feel not so alone behind your mask and I know that I’m not the only listener who appreciates that.
Track 6 : 26 - This track, a song to the younger Hayley. We are far too hard to our younger selves and becoming the person you used to criticize. I love the gentle guitars in the back with the simple, yet intriguing string parts as well. If you need a song to hug your younger self with, this is it: Hold on to hope if you got it, don’t let it go for nobody
Track 7 : Pool - A beautiful song with a vibe that makes you want to float on your back in the middle of your pool on the hottest night of the year. The chimes in the beginning are my favorite part of this track, a nice touch. A twisted love song about the hold toxic relationships can have on your mind. The vocals on this track too! I love the harmonies going back and forth with Hayley on the chorus. This song has a permanent place on my summer playlist.
Track 8 : Grudges - The intro of this song! So upbeat and different from what we’ve heard previously. A song, actually, about Zac’s previous departure from the bad 7 years prior. I love that not only did Hayley write this about a current band member, she knew she had to write it and get it out there : I can feel that we've changed and we're better this way. I didn’t know that before this review and it adds such a special veil to this song, and the background vocals from Zac! So good.
Track 9 : Caught in the Middle - The pinnacle of upbeat song hiding dark themes, this song does that. From the first lyrics : I can't think of getting old It only makes me want to die to the lyrics from the bridge: I don't need no help I can sabotage me by myself Depression is no easy fight and this song could even be an odd reassurance that it’s okay to get stuck sometimes, don’t beat yourself up to much. The beat on this track though? One of my favorites on the album. Dance to it, just maybe don’t listen to the lyrics too closely.
Track 10 : Idle Worship - I absolutely love the mixing on this song. Hayley’s vocals seem to have an extra layer on them, more heavy and scattered emotion and I love it. The chorus explains that emotion: I hate to let you down /  I got your hopes up / Now I got you hoping / That I'm gonna be the one to let you down Hayley hates to have let people down but also, she never signed up to be a superhero. Overall, a criminally underrated track from this record!
Track 11 : No Friend - An interesting conclusion or continuance of Idle Worship sung by a friend of the band, Aaron Weiss from MewithoutYou. He sings about Paramore’s history in this eerie sounding song. I love the spoken vocals with the repetitive instrumentals in the background. It takes you out of your head, or deeper into it. One of the coolest tracks and such an interesting concept to see Paramore pull out.
Track 12 : Tell Me How - The conclusion track to this album begins with a really pretty Piano intro. The chorus of this song is so gorgeous, it’s okay to shed a tear. The trails Paramore has been through, Hayley, Taylor and Zac needed to get it out there and the did in a beautiful way. One key part of this song is the final lyric: I can still believe After an album laced with pessimism, struggles and tripping - that last lyric is a small light for the band and the listener/fans.
Album Overview - An album that Hayley thought may never even be made, it absolutely became my favorite Paramore album. From raw themes of loss, depression, mental health in general and the hell of the life, this album tackles in all in a well crafted and relatable way. Paramore outdid themselves with this album and although the change might not have been welcomed by some, it was one of the most impressive “comeback” albums I’ve heard.
Let me know what you think of this album! If you have an album you’d like me to review, shoot me an ask! Until then, I’ll talk to you guys in the next one.

Monthly Favorites! June 2019
A brand new series, a list of my monthly favorites! Songs, albums, physical music, misc. Anything I’ve been digging this month, you might find your new favorite too - Let’s go:
Songs: (Artist - Song Title)
The 1975 : A Change Of Heart - Not sure why, but I’ve been loving this long late at night, just chilling and trying to wind down - The lyrics on this song are some of my favorite too.
Wallows : Scrawny - Ever since I reviewed this album I’ve loved listening to it by the pool, Scrawny especially. It’s a lighthearted kinda song you’ve got to vibe to.
Red Hot Chili Peppers : The Getaway - A funky track perfect for the summer weather, I love this song from their newest album - which honestly is criminally underrated.
Catfish and the Bottlemen : Fluctuate - This song got recommended to me a few months ago and I haven’t shut up about bit. I want to personally apologize to all my follows but like, it’s a damn good song.
Albums: (Artist - Album title)
Beach Goons : Hoodratscumbags - One of the ultimate summer albums, I recently reviewed this album here and from beginning to end it’s a well rounded album full of beautiful instrumentals.
Fall Out Boy : Folie á Deux - A criminally underrated album. Every track brings it solid and drowns you in the classic old school FOB lyrics and damn, it’s a good one. My favorite FOB album.
Depeche Mode : The Best Of - It’s always this time of year that brings out the strongest Depeche Mode fan in me. I can jam to this Best Of album all day in the hot summer sun.
Physical Music:
Tumblr media
Vinyl!
Mt Eddy : Chroma - Picked up this baby not too long ago on gorgeous blue vinyl and damn I love it so much! An underrated band and an Album that sounds even better with that added scratchy pop.
The Cars : Shake It Up - Got this one a few weeks ago from a local antique place and not only is it a decent cars album, I loved the album artwork as well! I put this one up on my wall as soon as I got home.
Paramore : After Laughter - This is an amazing album from start to favorite, something new for Paramore but I think they knocked it out of the park in terms of alt-pop music. Again, another album I think gains an extra layer when you add those scratches.
That’s all for this month! Been really busy, but July is shaping up to be a good one. What were your June favorites? Let me know! See you guys in the next one :)

Album (EP) Review!
All Time Low - Put Up Or Shut Up
Released July 25, 2006
A bit of a throwback, this EP will go down in history as one of my all time favorites, pun intended. So let’s fucking go:
Track 1 : Coffeeshop Soundtrack - This song is timeless I’m telling you. The Punk rock drum beats from Rain Dawson drive this song all the way fucking home! An those classic choppy guitar chokes at the breakdown? Headband those out all day.  I can’t listen to this song without letting go and dancing. You can tell these boys have chemistry. The lyrics of this song too? When it all comes down / To a sunrise on the East Side / Will you be there to carry home / The remains of my wasted youth? Hits deep in my teenage soul let me tell you. The bridge to the ending of this song is what makes this EP one of my favorites. Just, try not to think about this song being written about frontman Alex Gaskarth’s love affair.
Track 2 : Break Out! Break Out! - I had only ever heard the acoustic version of this song before discovering this EP years back and damn I love it! Alex’s vocals have a familiar feel to them and make me feel like I can just let loose. You not listen to this song and not feel seventeen again: Put up or shut up, we're not wasting time again / The credits are rolling and we're getting lost again You can even hear Zack Merrick’s under appreciated bass skills in this track, a good one for sure.
Track 3 : The Girl’s a Straight-Up Hustler - A classic in my humble opinion, if any song takes me back to teenage angst it’s this one. The harmonies in the verse are unexpected and pretty. Then, chorus of this song let’s it all go and those drums kick in with a drop into the next verse with those guitars?! Ugh, sign me the fuck up for this song. I love the layer the lyrics at the bridge too, you know I’m a sucker for them. I can’t not mention the outro to this song, either! I love Alex’s voice with that gentle guitar, yes please.
Track 4 : Jasey Rae - Another song I had only heard the acoustic of since discovering this EP. It’s certainly different, and I’m not mad about it! Alex’s voice sounds younger this one and it adds another layer of youthful vibes to this pretty song. Jack Barakat’s guitar skills by the way? A punk rock guitar staple. Again, the outros on this EP are just killing it: I've never told a lie and that makes me a liar... Another thing that the acoustic song is missing is that sick guitar solo at the end of the first part of the outro? Wow, this song.
Track 5 : The Party Scene - The name of their first studio album, The Party Scene was a song I overlooked at first but listening to it again, I gave it the credit that was due and now it’s one of my favorites! The most All Time Low song I can think of from this era, rerecorded for this EP. Another song that sings about being seventeen as well, and damn I never got that til I passed seventeen and look back on those days, The guitars at the bridge here have a rad effect on them too and that solo? Jack can really shred, Alex too then he has his moments, I dig it!
Track 6 : Running From Lions - Another rerecord from The Party Scene, this song has such a cool intro with the acoustic “melting” into those iconic All Time Low beats, strong bass and guitar riffing. Very different from its acoustic counterpart. I love the different vibes both versions give off and this one. More of those layer vocals too! The lyrics in this one have such a particular thing I can’t quite put my finger on it : Sell me out, I'm yesterday's old news / Phrases left on paper, black ink bleeding through The fade out too! Hitting all the bases.
Track 7 : Lullabies - Ending on of the strong notes and the fade in from  Running From Lions, probably my favorite from this EP. The bass with the soft guitar and vocals in the beginning make me feel a little less alone. Belt this track out just like Alex, man. A song about the death off Alex’s half brother, Tom, this song gets a heavier feeling when you listen to it. Take this song in and get lost singing it and letting go at the end of a well done EP.
Album (EP) Overview - This EP. A staple in the pop punk timeline, 2006 All Time Low brought out all the stops with this EP. Classic drumming from Rian, powerful vocals and deeper lyrics from Alex, sick bass from Zack and some iconic punk guitar work from Mr. Jack Barakat. This album takes me back to my teenage years and it’s so refreshing and f=fun to let go and feel that again. This especially since this EP was one of the ones that inspired me to pick up the guitar. Give this EP a listen and you’ll have a dance with your teenage self (or your current self if you’re in your teens now.) Make memories with this album.
Let me know what you think of this album! If you have an album (or EP) you’d like me to review, shoot me an ask! Until then, I’ll talk to you guys in the next one. :)

Song Review!
Halsey - Nightmare
Released May 17, 2019
Been a fan for awhile, Halsey’s newest single Nightmare is an anthem released just when the world needed it - Let’s go:
Song Overview - Wow. This fucking song. Halsey has gone down a more alt-rock sort of route with her music and I am all here for it. This song is an anthem for women who are slut shamed, over powered, and silenced by the world around them. Even if you don’t identify as a woman, you can agree that this song is a fucking anthem. Catchy beat, fresh sound and Halsey has a great flow, you can’t lie. Overall, a great song and I’m so hyped for this next album. Hopeless Fountain Kingdom was an okay album but the way this single is leading her next album, It’ll be a big one. For now, rock this badass song loud and proud.
What’d you think of this song? Have a song you want me to review? Just shoot me an ask! It’s always open to hear from you guys. I’ll talk to you in the next one!

10 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Collecting Vinyl
I’ve only been collecting for about 5 years now and I already have a list of 10 things I wish I knew. Maybe it’ll help some of you! Even if you’ve already started a collection, give these tips a read, who knows. Let’s go:
Tip 1 : Buy Vinyl You Actually Like/Enjoy Listening To - You’d think “yeah duh” but I have a few records I bought through a subscription service or on sale at a record store that sit and get no use, unfortunately. I plan on giving some to friends or selling them, but the money you spend on “Meh” records could go to an album you love and will get a lot of plays from.
Tip 2 : Don’t Feel The Need to Buy 3,4,5, etc. Records At A Time - I’m a broke-ass college student who was once a broke-ass high school student. For some reason I put this pressure on myself to always buy lots of vinyl at once or else I wasn’t an actual collector or something. Whether you can buy one record a month or one a day, you are still just as valid a collector as the next guy. Don’t put pressure to accumulate records fast to be valid, take your time with it!
Tip 3 : Buy Local When You Can! - Nothing beats walking into a local music store and spending an hour or two flipping through records, making a list of albums you want and maybe picking a few to take home. Not only are you supporting local business, but you might be getting some special finds and surprises, you never know. :)
Tip 4 : Check For Vinyl On The Go - Whether that’s on vacation or traveling to the next time over, you’ll be surprised what you can find in little record stores at the beach or little hole in the wall places. I found a little place I go to every year my family and I head to vacation and it’s now one of my favorite destinations!
Tip 5 : Don’t Be Ashamed For... - I was so embarrassed in 9th Grade when I bought, that’s right, the dreaded Crosley Cruiser Turntable. It was the cheapest option for me at the time and it never damaged my vinyl records. HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean it won't damage yours. Be careful and take your time and take the appropriate precautions. Is it good long term? No, but it’s fine for beginners, if you’re not sure collecting is for you. Save up for a nice one, though. Also, don’t be ashamed for getting your records from Urban Outfitters, Amazon, etc. I would recommend getting them from local places, merch stores and/or concerts as that supports local bands and businesses, but that’s not always best for people or what you might be looking for. There’s nothing wrong with getting vinyl from those retailers, Urban is usually insanely expensive though.
Tip 6 : When Buying Records, Double Check for Colored Pressings! - My first few records drive me crazy because they’re standard black, nothing wrong with that, but I could’ve gotten a cool or rare color pressing for the same price! Always check and see, especially online, if they offer another color or if you can find someone selling one, you’ll get a piece of art with your music.
Tip 7 : Store Your Vinyl Upright - My first few records I stacked like magazines, on their side and that makes me want to throw up when I look back on that. Store your babies upright so they don’t warp overtime and won't have pressure on top of the covers. In addition...
Tip 8 : Invest in Some Sleeves - At least for your favorite records, I highly recommend getting some cheap plastic sleeves for your records to preserve the art or signatures on your signed copies. Of course, covering all your vinyl will protect them best but as a beginner, protect your favorites at least.
Tip 9 : Don’t Feel Guilty About Buying Vinyl - There’s nothing wrong with buying things that make you happy in a responsible way. Collecting music isn’t a waste of money if you make sure you don’t blow all your money on it and do it in a smart way. Just like creating art or any other hobby that makes you or someone else happy, it’s okay to save some pocket change or some of your paycheck for a fresh album. Just don’t be a dumbass.
Tip 10 : Don’t Be Ashamed or Embarrassed - It wasn’t a huge deal, but I got teased for being a “Trendy hipster” for collecting vinyl and it kinda made me feel like shit. Collect them because you like them! That’s what matters. Another thing, I was incredibly insecure when I met the world of high tech, precise, massive collections and collectors and man I was intimidated as hell. Take it slow, upgrade your tech when you can and don’t feel rushed to become the biggest, best collector as soon as you start. It’s not a dick measuring contest even when some snobs might make you feel that way. It’s your collection! Make it yours and that takes time. :)
Let me know what you think or any questions you may have! Do you have any tips or things you wish you knew? Let me know and I’ll see you in the next one.

Album (EP) Review!
Chapel - Sunday Brunch
Released November 17, 2017
Stumbled across this band indie band awhile ago and I thought it was about time I reviewed their EP Sunday Brunch (With cool cover art) - Let’s go:
Track 1 : Cindy White - Right off the bat, you get the vibe that Chapel put out, an chill indie-rock band that keep it cool with this retro beat. Supposedly, this song is about Frontman Carter Hardin’s good time in Denver, CO. I just love the fun they have with the lyrics and vocals on this track. The drum breakdown in itself is so badass, Kourtney Grinwis kills it on this EP!
Track 2 : Caught Up - I always suggest this song to people who haven’t heard Chapel before. A more mellow vibe with raw, relatable lyrics. I love Kourtney’s beats in this one too, even the chorus goes hard. The fade out vocals at the bridge too, ugh this song is one of my favorites on this EP! You can’t not go hard to this one. Carter’s vocals at the end are some of my favorites as well.
Track 3 : We’ve Got Soul - A track about being different, going your own way when it seems like everyone else is well off and going on their own more successful path. I love the chorus vocals as well, they work so well with the message of this song. Favorite lines: ‘Cause we’ve got soul / Cause I just wanna chance to break the mold / I’m a boojie ass bitch deep in my bones Humerous with a wholesome message.
Track 4 : Miss Monogamy - The whole retro sound of this track makes it one of my favorites! Carter’s vocals seems so personal, like a friend is singing this song to you. The layered vocals with the saxophone? is a cool touch too, the ending is my favorite part. Although the best part is that this track is beautifully inspired by Carter’s crush on his teacher. Nevertheless, this song is a jam and I’m not ashamed about it
Track 5 : Don’t You Love Me - This was the first song I heard from the duo and it definitely won me over. Kourtney’s beat once again drives this song to success. That retro vibe returns underneath Carter’s humorous and honest lyrics. Favorite lines: She ghosted my two-for-twenty / It’s a cheap date when you’re eating alone those two-for-twenty specials are where it’s at.
Track 6 : See You Again - Damn this track gets to me. A deep and dark message hidden in a smooth sounding song. Carter sings about his Grandmother’s passing in the mellow piano track. These lines always sting me a little: I miss saying that I’m ok / But I’m craving your sweet tea / And mom isn’t making it quite the same even down to the little things, he misses it all. The line What if we were wrong, what if when we die, there is no one? Highlights a real and dark thought that goes through many people’s head when they lose a loved one. A beautiful song, definitely.
Track 7 : Fool’s Gold - The second most listen to song on Spotify behind We’ve got Soul, This ending track is a middle finger to a past relationship, allowing the anger take over and let those feeling out. The drumming once again wraps up this song solidly as the narrator rips into their past relationship.
Album (EP) Overview - Listen to this band before they blow up, mark my words! If their Album continues down this same path, it’s gonna be a great one! Carter and Kourtney really set the stage with the EP and I’m hyped to get more soon. :)
Let me know what you think of this album! If you have an album (or EP) you’d like me to review, shoot me an ask! Until then, I’ll talk to you guys in the next one. :)
