I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to my dear friend in crime, @manggageprek Audris, for your incredibly insightful consultant work on Remembrance for our version of Xanthe Zhou as a Chindo shaman. If you'd like to support my incredibly talented friend's work, please check out some of their short stories that have been released recently!!
A beautiful story about a trans masc and their shaman/dukun boyfriend. (I drew the top illustration as a visualization for this story)
A powerfully gripping short story expressing raw rage over Chinese Indonesian cultural genocide in Indonesia.
My friend is available for consultant work of all sorts as well! :)

we do need to revisit the wording of "you can't have your cake and eat it too" because i don't think it clearly enough conveys that it's more that you can't simultaneously retain a cake and also get to consume it (which would render you cakeless). for years i was like But why not....it's my cake....?

Just a lil ramble about the outfits we wore to ALA because we wanted to be as INDONESIA REPRESENT as possible during our time there, and I'm so glad we did!
On our first day we wore some fancy casual batik with matching trousers. Our inside joke was that this was our secret Blue Prince cosplay (the video game) because the batik sort of looks like a blue print, haha.
Well because of our batik we were instantly clocked by an Indonesian librarian (first pic)!! She had once been a part of the Stonewall committee herself and was so grateful for Lunar Boy as representation for Muslim queer people (and including a hijabi parent who was supportive of her trans son). We were so sniffly and weepy just seeing another Indonesian out here- I'm so glad we bumped into her. We met her at the APALA meeting and even though I was just a guest to the event, it felt like home. Just a bunch of AAPI librarians and authors being so welcoming. Even after their awards ceremony, people were still wearing cultural fits!
For our Stonewall outfit, we wanted to wear something explicitly cultural. While I wanted to wear a sarong with batik motif- my mom insisted on a tenun pattern instead (the pattern we wore has important significance to her family) so we went with that (sarong with tenun motif)! We also wore a black kebaya (the top) so that the gold jewelry could pop more :> we felt the final look was still missing something to bring it up to *fabulous* though:
These fancy ear pieces are called "sumping telinga". They're not typically worn by people casually around here (made clear by the blank faces I got from asking for a "sumping" in the many jewelry stores we visited. My mom didn't even know the word "sumping"), instead worn by dancers or brides/grooms in weddings. So it's for the really fancy events. Maybe it's my non-conforming self talking, but I think sumping should totally be normalized as an accessory for every day use. Because they look so dang cool. I had to order both of our sumping online, and I adore them. Shoutout to @manggageprek for being a fashion icon and putting these on my radar. They were a huge hit at the Stonewall ceremony!
We were told "it's hard to be the best dressed in Stonewall, but I think you guys did it" which is a huge compliment lol. I did have to keep fighting this internal feeling of "looking foreign" and therefore "not fitting in" with the folks at Stonewall, because we were dressed head to toe in traditional wear- but that was the point. To show people that "this is what a Stonewall winner can look like".
These aren't clothes I'm 100% comfortable in, but I wanted this particular look to get a chance to shine on a stage like Stonewall. And perhaps, down the line if I ever get a chance like this again, I could wear more cultural outfits of all sorts. I'm still very proud of how we represented our culture through our story, outfit, and speech. It was important that we stood out.

Grouping the Don't Call Me Superboy prologue comics I've drawn so far together. I really want to continue this series next to all the other fancomic ideas I'm juggling! Got big superfam re-imaginings in the back burner and they all start with Conner.

Superboy wip! The decolonization of a white boy continues.
Give me all your strength, because I also put off this comic for action sequences and backgrounds that aren't-actually-a-big-deal reasons. And I really want to get back into it! I have a vision for non-white Conner and I need people to see it.

I guess the new spiderman show had a "I'm upset I wasn't told about your secret identity as a superhero" arc. It's reigniting people talking about MAWS Lois again and how "she did nothing wrong for being upset that Clark lied to her" and just.
What do you mean "she's rightfully upset because her boyfriend lied to her" they weren't a couple yet!! They knew each other for less than a week!! "she's upset he missed out on important life events to run off and be a hero" WHAT LIFE EVENTS THEY KNEW EACH OTHER FOR 5 DAYS AT THAT POINT????
it's part of the show's wack writing but it's so upsetting that the later half of S1 has this whole "the city is xenophobic to Superman" shtick which is a huge justification for why Clark would keep his identity secret. And people are just like "no xenophobe Lois is right, he lied. lying bad"

I watched Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and I noticed that they used a secret character design technique to make any characters 100% better instantly.
Yes, this incredible method works on everything, even things that are already good:
Now know that whenever you are struggling with your characters, you can always count on the Big Two, beeg jacket n' mitts.

A silly comic that I drew for Christmas featuring my OCs Made and Aideen. This was inspired by comments people had made about a suggestive drawn chocolate rabbit in an Easter comic I did. This idea was helped along by the fact that chocolate covered fruit, such as bananas, is a thing in German Christmas markets.
*sigh* Poor, poor Made. Her gf really isn't aware of how she comes across sometimes. 🤭
