“I decolonized the skate industry” #Rp @60secdocs Douglas Miles of the San Carlos Apache tribe hand-painted his first skateboard for his son, Douglas Miles Jr (@steezyapache), in 2001. The deck, featuring an Apache warrior, was just the first in a line of skateboards that teach the history of the tribe. Now, the Native pop artist runs the organization, APACHE Skateboards (@instapache1), that supports local Arizona youth by sponsoring skate teams and planning skate parks. Douglas’s art and community outreach has sparked a new tradition — one that blends the arts and culture of Apache and skate. . . . #apachetribe #sancarlosapache #indigenous #skateboarding #skatedeck #streetart #artist https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzs43fxg6Mq/?igshid=16ut6tgsd0d66

These ‘colonizer ceremonies’ promote the continued genocide and erasure of indigenous people. #Rp @wokevegana Fuck 4th of July! There is nothing to celebrate. This holiday is only for the colonizers to celebrate all of their killings, rapes and all the slaves that they had. #fuckthefourth https://www.instagram.com/p/BzgrXxrgKAa/?igshid=romgwxnz3xpk

#Rp @communitycirclela Many of these folks that run systems for mainstream capitalism suffer from a damaged imagination of the world that could be. It is because oppression requires hierarchy, the hierarchy that is imposed when the fabric of our communities, the bonds, love, belonging, comfort we share, the way we build life, is broken. In many ways, power is collective, and it requires a completed circuit to flow correctly, just like electricity, that is life, life spark. In the last 500 years, has our ability to collectively move power to make life and better our community been intentionally sabotaged and broken in order to make it possible to accumulate power among the few. Capitalism benefits from breaking the fabric of our community to siphon power, like a vampire, like a parasite, from our collective strength and innate ability to generate power. Capitalists are not able to generate power by themselves, because they are individual, and natural power is collective. When the individual engorges themselves with collective power, that power dies, because it is not flowing, therefore capitalist always have to get their power from us, and over the generations they’ve invented so many ways, always harming us in the process, because as living beings, we were not created to be isolated from each other, we are collective and seek that connection to live, like the electrical current. The work to undo this is currently framed as de-colonial work. The point of the images that I sent is that there is another way. And though they cage us, abuse and harm us, we still have not lost the will to live, the will to recreate the circuit wherever we are, and that together, we’ve created life even in the face of death and that is why even if they cage us, deport us, kill us and harm us, we will always be the powerful ones, because we know how to make and remake community - written by our comrade who leads masculinity circles in the PNW, Tomas Madrigal, Ph. #Repost @lazy.beam This illustration is to honor Óscar Alberto Martínez Ramírez, 25 and his daughter, Valeria 2. . . The family from El Salvador were trying escape extreme poverty and seek asylum in the US but they were turned away. They tried to cross the Rio Grande and only the mother, Tania Vanessa Ávalos made it out alive. The family was surviving with $10 a day in El Salvador (the country still uses US dollar currency). Óscar Alberto Martínez Ramírez wanted to work in the US so he can raised money to build a home for his wife and daughters. My condolences to the family and the mother for their lost. 🌹 . . “From the scorching Sonoran Desert to the fast-moving Rio Grande, the 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border has long been an at times deadly crossing between ports of entry. A total of 283 migrant deaths were recorded last year; the toll so far this year has not been released (CNN).” . . Currently the internet and news are circulating a photo of Oscar Alberto Martinez Ramirez and Valeria found dead by the Rio Grande. If you look up the story this image will come up. . . If you choice to share the image of their death for shock value or to share your platform on immigration human rights. Please remember this was a family in search of a better life. Please be respectful and show compassion and empathy. Perhaps consider sharing a photo that humanizes them. This family like many others risk their lives sólo para buscar una vida mejor. #restinpower https://www.instagram.com/p/BzM17EAgffr/?igshid=1re3varnv1nwb

#Rp @the.holistic.psychologist Being ghosted means having someone disappear on you. It can be abrupt and unexpected. I’ve worked with lots of people who’ve been ghosted and I notice how hard they take this even if they didn’t feel any connection with the person. This is because ghosting hits on our childhood attachment wounds. It brings up the emotions that come with not being seen or heard. It triggers memories of emotional neglect or abandonment we haven’t processed. These repressed emotional experiences feel so painful and raw regardless of how we feel about the other person. When these wounds come up, the mind creates stories around them. “This person left because I’m worthless” “No one will ever want to be with me” “There’s no point in having friends because none of them stick around.” Our inner child makes ghosting something about who we are. The reality is being ghosted has nothing to do with us. Leaving another person’s life without explanation comes from low emotional maturity. It speaks to that person’s integrity. It gives you valuable feedback on their level of self worth. If you’re ghosted, it’s ok to be upset. You have ever right to be hurt. And confused. But in the haze of the emotion do not forget you have the ability to observe. You can see people’s behavior as feedback. You can take that feedback and decide if it means something about you, OR if it means something about them. This is empowerment. Behavior is how a person feels about themselves. Read it again. What’s your experience with ghosting? #selfhealers https://www.instagram.com/p/BzHLEAXgRu3/?igshid=1qjlky5ibheha
