A lump of coal and some limburger cheese ((What would your character give mine for Christmas?))
Flinty stared at the unwrapped gift.
“Hey, when I gave this to you last year this lump of goal was at least 40% bigger. Cheapskate.”
Tumblr media
He threw the cheese to the pantry. “Someone’s just getting the cheese for Christmas next year!”

((Sorry I have been pretty much absent from this blog! I haven’t stopped loving my terrible duck or writing him but to be honest I sort of struggled with DT 17′. I don’t write that Flinty (tho I guess it was revealed he wasn’t Flinty at all so idk) but also have trouble writing with the DT17′ versions of the characters sometimes. So I sorta dropped out... I’d love to return here though. I just need to figure out what to do... Maybe outright not write with DT17 muses because I have trouble having this character interact with that world. IDK.))

Inspired by the post about Duck comics characters like Ancient gods - Hades Glomgold. We didn’t have a character for king of underground at that illustrations, so I through “Why, it’s a perfect role for Glomgold! As far as Scrooge is Zeus and Rockerduck is Poseidon, who else can be the third god-king-brother? He is loner, so strangely acting dear souls never bother him and also Hades is a god of underground jewel in some sources, so…”

Scanlation: Scrooge's Debt To Glomgold
Story Code: D  9346 Plot: John Antrobus Script: Bob Bartholomew Art: Vicar First publication: 20.10.1988 Date the story was created: 04.06.1987
This is one of the Danish stories where Scrooge and Glomgold had known each other almost their whole life. This story shows their first meeting.
Tumblr media
This doesn’t of course fit with Don Rosa’s Life and Times, which is why we don’t get stories in this continuity anymore. These might not fit with Carl Barks’s Glomgold stories (not that Don Rosa’s The Terror of the Transvaal does either IMO). In English anyway. Because of the way the first two Barks’s Glomgold stories were translated into several European languages this kind of a shared past fits well. In lot of countries The Money Champ was translated and published first, so in the very first Glomgold story for example Finnish publications got Scrooge and Flinty already know each other. And when a bit later The Second-richest Duck was published the dialogue was changed so that Scrooge and Flinty already know each other, and Scrooge says Flinty is ‘always giving him trouble’
Thus, these stories about Scrooge and Flinty always being rivals/partners/friends.
I wondered if the place in this story was supposed to really be South Africa… In the end I kept it accurate to the Finnish version though.

Glomgold stared at the tiny star slapped onto his coat.
‘You tried’
Glomgold frowned and opened his mouth. But it suddenly occured to him he was about to get into an argument with a... 3-year old? How old was she anyway? A tiny very pink duckling. And Flinty had a sudden realization that an adult man yelling at a sickeningly adorable little duckling middle of a street might not make him look like the good guy exactly.
Especially if she started to cry.
This was probably all some sort of a scheme by Scrooge to embarrass him.
Glomgold opened his mouth again.
“I’m not paying for this.”
Tumblr media
And with that he turned around to leave.
a sticker for @therichestduck
Tumblr media
Webby’s collection of stickers is mostly positive, therefore it was very difficult to decide what to give him. She tries to have faith in people, but he has said very bad things, and he has never given her reason to think he wants to be a much nicer person. Not genuinely.
However, she does have a few stickers a sassy uncle in St. Canard gave her, and one of these is what Flintheart receives. She quickly but lightly slaps a gold star onto his attire and swiftly retreats. What does it refer to??? Well that’s up to interpretation.

It occurs to me that after Scrooge, the closest thing Flinty might have to a friend is… Gyro.

((hah it’s funny that the person who is his biggest source of stress and anxiety is also the closest thing Flinty has to a functional and positive relationship and when I say ‘funny’ I mean ‘incredibly sad and fucked up’))
