I know that this isn't exactly, y'know, groundbreaking knowledge here, but it just hit me that Delaney has a red right hand. Was that intentional on your part or just a funny coincidence?

What does Delaney think of the cyborgs? The creators of the automatons?

ok tough one because I don't know how they fit into the current story, but I think she's not put too much thought into them.

If anything, she's kind of put it in the back of her mind because clearly, she has an issue with authority, and perhaps it irks her a little at the idea of the Cyborgs returning just to become another ruling class like she had to deal with back on Super Earth.

How does Delaney react to the glitch where automatons kinda just follow you around sometimes not attacking you or anything, both when it happens to her and others?

She plays it very cool and enjoys the irony, maybe takes a few selfies, and then she's got to do what got to do...

What was Delaney's reaction when she learned the automatons had (at first) been driven out of the galaxy?

Oh she knew they'd be back the whole time!

I mean, meta-wise, I sort of guessed because why would they have half their content 1 month in? The story felt like it was going there. So I just played it as she was aware of the wider plan the whole time.

The joys of this is I have to kind of second guess that Delany knows everything going on, and she's keeping all to herself.

Thankfully, she's a master at bullshiting and keeping a strong poker face.

What does Delaney think of the Automaton marching theme?

An absolute banger. She does her best not to hmm along too it if she heard it

When I first came up with Delany's look, it was really an afterthought thrown together in an afternoon when I first started playing the game on its release. Since then, I've had a big think about what look fits her, and now that she's become my hot new obsession, I figure she was due for an update.

Personally, I love the veteran-styled Dynamo armour. Something about the bone white feels very prestigious despite it being super impractical.

Also glad I could fit the 'Beast Mode' decals in there <:

I'm often very hesitant with " good guy" characters in dystopian/grim dark setttings myself cause they often feel like they just undermine the scope and power of the evil entities. But what I like about Delaney is she is still very flawed being aware of Super Earth's bullshit but apathethic to actually be a positve influence. My headcanon is most civilians not part of the Helldivers is similiar. Humans smart enough to not fall for the propaganda but care more for their creature comforts to care.

I'm 100% on the headcannon front!

Delany is still a mixed back though, but I appreciate folks seeing her as being positive! I think she's stuck in the '40k' problem, with no real heroes or good outcomes, just outcomes.

As a Helldiver, she 100% gunned down civilians and did a lot of sketchy stuff, no questions asked, but as an Automaton sympathiser/infiltrator/sleeper(?), she's doing even more suss things (see the Deigo-stained floor).

In her eyes, she just sees herself as a weapon to be used because it's all she's ever known. Be it Super Earth or Cyberstan, it's the only way she knows how to survive, and she'd be pretty indifferent at this point as to who she sides with.

The real drama of it is either through brainwashing, enlightenment, or perspective (I'll let you all decide on that by yourself ;) ) She's starting to see the bigger picture and figure out what she really believes in.

The 'Truth'

What if helldiver Delaney was the organic descendant of cyborgs from the first galactic war? Her adaptability to cybernetic implants could be due to inherited genetic modifications that her great grandparents imposed on their offspring.

I love the idea! But I don't really know all that much about the first game lore besides a few lore videos, not to mention what lores are yet to come! If any further back-story gets uprooted in the game, who knows what might be uncovered in Delany's story!

Now this isn't an ask but i was thinking about making an Automaton OC who is HELLBENT on abduction of Helldivers to get it through there thick heads basically they are attempting to create a rebellion of Rebal Helldivers but if you have any pointers/advice/suggestions ill be glad to hear them

I think when making a character (especially in something like helldivers) that's on the villain side, be ready to embrace a lot of flack. Not all of it's negative; most of it's just part of the vibe to come up with the IP. From Silly headcanons about how they'd 'take them down', screaming 'YOU'LL NEVER DEFEAT OUR LIBERTY' or scrolling through endless meme responses about nuking your OC from orbit. It's not always fun to hear, but think of it like you're making a pantomime villain (even one who's really the hero in their own story), something people can boo and enjoy rallying against (other people just love a villian out right!). In reality, people LOVE a good villain and thrive off their victories and their defeats. It's why I like to throw a joke piece of art in between the serious stuff to humble Delany! You need to learn to laugh at them to make the cool moments cooler.

If you're making a helldiver OC, you also have the great opportunity to doodle their reaction to current events as the story develops!
