the ncr population was more than 700,000 people decades before new vegas, its stability (and better healthcare) probably caused a baby boom meaning a population approaching 1,000,000 is plausible by f:nv. that's without even considering people outside the ncr who would trade with or just be aware of them. yet in the show all we get in the seemingly entirely unpopulated area around what was shady sands and a cult. a society that was large and stable enough to support a tourist population visiting the strip fucking disintegrated without a trace because the capital was nuked. what the fuck happened to the hub. where are the brahmin barons.

i'm still so mad about the ncr being (as far as we can tell from the show) completely destroyed. i keep seeing people say 'well we knew it had problems in new vegas!! so its fine' and the issues in new vegas are like, regulation being weakened to benefit the rich and lack of political will to commit to a debatably necessary border expansion & war. if you want to collapse them for the show there are ways of doing it that aren't some random fuck deciding to nuke them.

new vegas being that small in the show doesn't make sense destroyed or not... its supposed to be the entire city the game just had time/budget/engine/tech restraints. between this and filly being like 1.5 streets i'm worried the show runners think the settlements in bethesda games are actually supposed to be the size depicted.

ncr's problems (non exhaustive) as presented in fallout new vegas:

- currency devaluation wrt caps caused by the switch to fiat after their gold reserves are depleted

- expansionist ideology leading to the army being stretched too thin and unable to properly protect its citizens

- lack of political will to support an unpopular second battle of hoover dam allowing the legion's forces to grow and its territory to expand

- lack of manpower leading to prison labour being used and a subsequent revolt leading to a lot of angry heavily armed gang members

- erosion of economic regulation leading to political inequality as the wealthy can lobby politicians

- reactionary undercurrent caused by the above and only amplified by female troops being moved away from the front due to the legions treatment of women

- risk of famines as the population grows unless new territory is acquired

its a classic case of 'i understand what this is trying to convey i just hate what that is' bc its not even a bad set of ideas. its just a bad set of ideas in the wider context of the fallout universe. also if they reveal the strip was actually destroyed im breaking into todds house and moving all the furniture an inch to the left.

fallout and elder scrolls have absolutely benefited from their modding communities and bethesda doesn't pretend otherwise, but people need to realise that a vast majority of players never use mods. fallout london being effected by the next gen patch sucks but in no way does bethesda owe them a heads up, acting like they do is bordering on entitled
