She should have known that he would react this way, a part of her had hoped that he wouldn't immediately hate her for it. Lady Whistledown had been created out of this inherent need to be seen, to be heard by the people who ignored her. The few times she'd used her power had been in what she believed to be the best manner, to help the people she loved. But Colin was telling her otherwise, and it's with that thought in mind that she was almost opening the door herself when she felt him at her arm. She threw him a questioning look, she was in no mood to be berated further, the hack opened the door then and she was about to pull her arm from his grasp when he ordered the man to keep driving. "Colin?" she was vastly confused because the look he was giving her currently did not match up with what he had just been yelling at her, yet now he looked at her so differently. Before she had a chance to question what he was doing, his lips were on hers, and the world around her seemed to just melt away.

Colin didn’t even let himself think before he grabbed her arm, pulling her back a bit so she looked at him. He needed to look into her blue eyes, the eyes that had haunted him since the night of the kiss. They looked almost the same, and he felt his anger not as intensely. He was still hurt, and there was something else he couldn’t figure out what. A feeling that was a big familiar but he couldn’t pin point what it was. He looked at her intensely. He loved her, he knew her, at least every part of her outside of whistledown. He wanted, no he needed to know why she had done this. He knew she did not lie, so he believed her when she said she loved him. He was unsure about a lot in this moment but that, he knew. ❝You may keep driving❞ he said to the hack who came to open the door, however his eyes never left her. The way her hair was cascading down, just like that night, or how tempting her lips looked, even before she had asked for a kiss. He wasn’t sure what was happening, or what even made sense, all Colin knew was, he had to kiss her. He needed to, and he did. It had been even better than he remembered. After two years, he had imagined it a lot, but no memory was better than the reality, and all he knew was he never wanted it to end.

She smiled as she listened to him explain how his family were hopeless romantics, yet he never thought he would be. "I'm going to take that as a compliment?" she said with a small smile, "If it helps, I also did not think that I would ever find myself losing my head for anyone, yet here you are before me"

"I know it sounds silly" Jacques said with a sheepish smile. "But my family are all hopeless romantics. I mean, if you've heard anything about Lemony... and Kit might seem better but she really isn't. When I made it through the turbulent storms of adolescence without losing my head over anyone, and then kept not feeling it... I was starting to think that was it. I was simply immune. Until you."
