thoughts before departure

in 12 hours i’ll be headed to LA. In a car, on my own, podcasts and audiobooks as my company. 

im not running away from anything/anyone, but starting a new adventure, and I’ll see what the next 10 years will bring.

the people in my life are doing really well. friends are happy, and old flames are finding the life and love theyve always wanted.

kinda bummed i couln’t say goodbye to everyone, but the ones who mattered know i’m thinking of them

you can do whatever you want in this life. don’t listen to other people. this world is rough, but your skin is built to get tough. you got a want in your life, well then make it happen.

take care of each other, hold your friends high and lift them up when they’re down.

I’m sorry I had to because things simply have changed and this is for our own good. In this letter, I have expressed how thankful I am for all the experiences I had with you. He’s going to know about your dream wedding, and He’ll know your strengths and weaknesses, laziness, and your mixed emotions. He’s going to know your need to quote any film you know all the way through, and your fear of growing older. He’ll know your bad habits, your mannerisms, your stroppy pout, your facial expressions and your laugh like it’s his favourite song. The way you chew, drink, walk, sleep, fidget and kiss. He’s going to know that you have already picked out wedding flowers, baby names and tiles for the bathroom, bridesmaids dresses, and the colour of your bedroom walls. He’s going to get annoyed, and then accept that you leave your clothes everywhere. He’ll know your McDonald’s order off by heart, how many sugars to put in your coffee/tea, how many scoops of ice cream you want, and that you need your sandwiches cut into triangles. He’s going to know how you feel without telling him, and that your crying without shedding tears. He’s going to know all of it. Everything. You, from top to bottom and inside out. From learning, from sharing, from listening, from watching. He’s going to know every single thing there is to know, and you know what else? He is still going to love you.”

It's 3:27AM and I'm the only one awake. I'm lying on a mat laid on the floor and I couldn't sleep. All I could hear is this defeaning silence..the non-stopping sound of crickets from the outside..the lizards in the ceiling..and the roosters crooking from the neighborhood. He probably was your soul mate. Your problem is you don’t understand what that word means. People think a soul mate is your perfect fit and that’s what everyone wants but a true soul mate is a mirror. The person who shows you everything that’s holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet cause they tear down your walls and smack you awake but to live with a soul mate forever? Nah, it’s too painful. Soul mates they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you and then they leave and thank god for it.
