What if you lived your entire life believing that you were an only child?
The decision was far from an easy one, but not one of the young couples were financially prepared to handle three babies at one time. It took all of the love in the world to give them up, but they all knew it would be better for the children if they only kept one. The one they originally planned on having. The youngest two were sent on their way, given to new families that would give them the life they deserved. Their birth parents never tried to make any contact with them. It wasn’t because they didn’t care– they did, more than anything, but they couldn’t take any risks for the child they were raising. It was something they agreed on upon putting them up for adoption. It would be a closed one on all parts. After all; how would you tell your son that there was somebody else with his face living somewhere else in the world and they would never get to know them? That’s why all of them were kept in the dark about being adopted. They didn’t know, and nobody had any intentions of telling them. Until one day a letter came in the mail.

Coming from Olympia, Washington, Trevor Nathaniel Benton-- otherwise known as Trev, or Nate, is eighteen years old and the third born of the ‘Smythe’ triplets. He is best known as The Dork. Trevor is currently single, and identifies as heterosexual biromantic. Before accepting the invitation for the experiment, he worked part time at Dunkin Donuts. He is portrayed by the one and only Grant Gustin, and is unavailable for auditions.
Personality Traits:
+ Protective, Passionate, Cheerful.
- Gullible, Indecisive, Impatient.
Character Facts:
When some people hear the name Trevor, they associate him with being the asshole or the stupid jock but Trevor was anything but that. He didn’t like sports and he was probably one of the nicest in his school, it was just how he was raised and it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. He did have his moments in which he was sarcastic, but there was usually reasons and usually it meant he was comfortable enough with you..  He wasn’t the smartest cookie in the jar either though, he had those moments when he’d fall for certain things, like if you told him there was no school the next day he’d probably believe it then it would occur to him to as a teacher about it or something. Academic wise, he was a smart kid and he didn’t have bad luck when it came to dating at all.
His first love was Melanie whom he met when they were both 15, and they dated for a few years until both kids graduated and they went their separate ways. He still loves her and she does hold a special place in his heart he doesn’t think anyone else can fill even if they tried. Apart from relationships, Trevor is close to both his parents whom only want him to succeed in life and be a good kid so he always strives to make them proud.
As for his appearance, it’s always what makes him comfortable but he is all about the jeans and the cool shirts. He can go from formal to the dude that looks like he doesn’t give a crap about what he wears. He also really loves caps and he has three tattoos that he got on his 17th birthday and one of them he got with his now former ex/girlfriend Melanie.

Coming from Olympia, Washington, Gabriel Rowan Grimm-- otherwise known as Gabe, is eighteen years old and the third born of the ‘Anderson’ triplets. He is best known as The Nerd. Gabe is currently in a relationship, and identifies as demi-bisexual panromantic. Before accepting the invitation for the experiment, he worked part time as a prep cook. He is portrayed by the one and only Darren Criss, and is unavailable for auditions.
Personality Traits:
+ Passionate, Trustworthy, Charming.
- Inexperienced, Sarcastic, Anxious.
Character Facts:
Married young, James and MacKenzie Grimm introduced themselves to hardship early on in their marital life. Life was difficult enough for anyone in their early twenties, but with someone else at your side to look after and protect, things were even more difficult. They spent their first few years of marriage living in the basement of MacKenzie’s parent’s home with James working endlessly at the docks with his father to save up money for their own place. After two years in a drafty basement, James was finally able to save up enough money for a down payment on a small house in the middle of Olympia, Washington. Even though it was small and lacking any of the luxury of their parent’s homes, it was still theirs and a place that they would absolutely cherish. Now that they had their own place and didn’t have to deal with the awkward feeling of their bedroom being underneath her parent’s, the yearning for a sex life became even more evident. All of their nights were spent wrapped around each other and days hoping that the small plastic stick would soon read positive. The couple had little to no success conceiving and soon MacKenzie was spending more nights in tears over the fact that she may never have a child of her own.
Exactly nineteen months and four days after moving into their own home, the Grimm’s discovered that they had finally conceived. With the thought of bringing a child into the world, the two did everything that they could possibly do to make sure that all of the right vitamins were taken and all classes attended. James spent more money on parenting classes than rent and MacKenzie brought home maternity clothes months before she would ever need them. In early February of their fourth year of marriage, the Grimm’s gave birth to a beautiful, brown-haired little girl with a small turnt up nose and rosey cheeks. She was the perfect child and exactly what the young couple had dreamed of. The only problem being that the pair of lungs in her small chest refused to function and in a matter of days, their months of work went down the drain and they’d lost their first child. After many tear-filled doctor’s appointments and tests, MacKenzie found out that she was basically infertile due to uterine scarring from her first pregnancy.
The situation weighed heavy on their relationship and it felt like their hopes for the future were lost. James went back to his endless work, while MacKenzie stayed home to mourn the loss of their child. While James couldn’t set any blame on her, the situation weighed heavy on his heart and he threw himself head first into working harder than he had before. Eventually, he moved up in the small company, managing and learning more and more about running a successful business. With the success of his career came a spike of confidence and James convinced MacKenzie that looking into adoption would do them good. Though she had doubts, she couldn’t bring herself to deny her husband. They spent months visiting centers and talking to all of the people that could possibly know anything about bringing a child into their home when they came across a tiny orphanage in Ohio. Adoption had seemed like the best of options in bringing a child into their home - giving a child parent’s that wouldn’t have them otherwise. The day that the nameless, curly haired baby boy was placed in their care was the best moment of either of their lives and there has not been one day where they have regretted their decision.
James and MacKenzie Grimm finally had a healthy baby to raise and care for. His big golden eyes melted both of their hearts, regardless of the fact that he didn’t have one bit of their DNA in his body. Gabriel Rowan grew up in a small, loving home without much extravagance. There wasn’t always money for new video games or clothes but it didn’t make a difference to the boy. All he ever wanted to do was go to work with his father or spend the afternoon in the garden with his mother as she explained to him the difference between a tulip and a rose. At a young age, his mother taught him the piano; showing him the rich noise that could come from it’s body and how he could relish in something he was creating with just the touch of his fingertips. Playing the piano became one of his greatest hobbies as he grew older, preferring it’s company to that of his teasing peers. Because of his short stature and introverted personality, Gabe found it hard to fit in at school and would have rather stayed home every day than go there to endure the pointed fingers and upturned noses.
As Gabe grew older and started gaining a few friends, things at school got even a little bit easier. He still spent a lot of time at the piano with his mother but upon entering high school, started taking classes there where he could improve beyond the point that his mother had taken him. He’s always done fairly well in classes, opting to sit in the front and actually learn something than in the back with the guys in football jerseys spitting paper wads at the backs of the pretty girl’s heads. Even though he thought they were juvenile, he never considered them unattractive and that was one of the first and most confusing times of his still-short life. He liked boys and that was undeniable but he liked girls too. It was usually easier to talk to the shy ones, gaining a girlfriend in his freshmen year and refraining from telling her that the boys interested him just as much. By his senior year, Gabe had found the courage to ask a boy to the prom, concededly coming out as liking men in the process. The two have been together for almost nine months and Gabe, in his innocent glory, is absolutely sure that Danny Amos is the love of his life. While he’s with a man, he knows that he’s attracted to girls too. The stigma of being bisexual isn’t something he’s totally comfortable with using to define himself, but he’s also comfortable enough with who his is as a person that the rest of things in life have seemed to fall into place and become less unnerving. He has goals of attending a school for music and becoming a concert pianist after his time in the experiment. Going to England isn’t half bad of an experience either.

Coming from Boulder, Colorado, Justin Matthew Graves is eighteen years old and the second born of the ‘Smythe’ triplets. He is best known as The Heart Throb. Justin is single, and identifies as heterosexual panromantic. Before accepting the invitation for the experiment, he worked part time as a barista. He is portrayed by the one and only Grant Gustin, and is unavailable for auditions.
Personality Traits:
+ Charismatic, Admirable, Passionate.
- Anxious, Misguided, Boyish.
Character Facts:
Justin has always been quite popular in school. Not just with the students, but with the teachers as well. It isn’t just because he’s got a great attitude, a good sense of humor, and good looks-- Justin has all the skills of a leader. He’s hardworking, determined, and has to always be moving forward. Not to mention the fact that he was great at talking his way out of a problem had he ever gotten himself into one.
He played basketball from his freshman year to his senior year. He was passionate about sports, sure, but he was really only doing it to impress his father. It’s not that the two didn’t get along, but Justin’s dad always thought that he could do better than he was. If he got an A on a test, he’d get a pat on the back and a “next time go for that A plus.” His mother was the exact opposite; always praising him for the accomplishments he made. It would have killed him to admit it, but he was a definite momma’s boy and he’d be a little more than lost without her.
At age nine, Justin was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Nobody knows what brought it on, but one day he just started having panic attacks whenever they would go out in public. It wasn’t only triggered by groups of people, but also complete strangers, and going to any kind of doctor, and eating in front of anyone, and having to take a shower. It was so bad that he had to be homeschooled in fifth grade. Time and the right medication helped him improve, and while he isn’t as socially awkward as he used to be; he still has those attacks every now and then. The easiest way for him to cope with this is by going for a walk outside and listening to music that he can relate to.
Almost immediately after Justin accepted the invitation to join the experiment, his girlfriend of almost five years sat him down and broke up with him. They were the kind of couple that people would expect to get married and have beautiful kids with a beautiful home and have successful jobs for the rest of their lives. Justin and Alexa were the ‘power couple’ of the school. She was Prom Queen, he was Prom King. He played sports, she was a cheerleader. Wherever Justin went, Alexa was right beside him. They even went on each others family vacations. Nobody expected them to go their separate ways. He was completely devastated, and he didn’t understand why she was ending things with him when he loved her as much as he did. She offered an explanation; telling him that him being away in England for three years was going to be way too hard for her, and that if he still wanted her when he came home she would be there. She stayed the night at his house one last time and Justin didn’t leave his room for a week after that.
Justin adores children. He used to baby sit for his neighbor when she would work late on the weekends. Her son was like his little brother, and Justin gave him his graduation cap when he finished school. A month or so after that, Brady was diagnosed with Leukemia. Justin went to visit him in the hospital every single day while he was being treated. That, on top of the break up, was taking a huge toll on him emotionally. He stopped sleeping. He couldn’t eat. His anxiety was through the roof. But he kept on going to see Brady, and he kept smiling for him despite the fact that his cheeks were sore from all of the tears that had fallen before that. He would read him stories, and bring his mom homemade soup that his own mother made, and he gave every bit of time he had to the both of them until he had to leave. He left behind his basketball for Brady, and made his mom promise to contact him somehow if he didn’t make it. Brady is still alive and fighting, and Justin is waiting until he can make his first phone call home so that he can hear his voice again.
Appearance wise-- Justin has short, dark brown hair that he keeps styled up into a faux hawk. He’s supposed to wear glasses, but he opted out for contacts when he was sixteen. His clothing style is a bit scattered; you can catch him walking around in basketball shorts with a plain white t-shirt and sandles with black socks, or you’ll see him wearing loose fitting jeans with Super-Man hoodies and no shoes whatsoever. Socks are always necessary, of course. Feet freak him out big time. He constantly smells like Old Spice, even if he’s leaking gallons of sweat, and nobody really understands how that’s possible. If you’re talking to him and he asks you to repeat yourself more than once; it’s because the headphones dangling around his neck are playing music too loudly and can’t read lips to save his life. He’s very easy to get along with, and if you want to be his friend all you have to do is start a conversation. He’ll be more than happy to entertain you.
