They have such tragedies happen to them on a daily💔💔 it’s my favorite thing to just love on them because they deserve it in my eyes. Playing arkham knight as someone who loves character derailment as a trope is amazing, but as someone who loves riddler it is like several gut punches and then Batman cracking my skull. And reading hellblazer is like being run over by a train! This is joyful ! Time to give my Constantine keychain kisses and teabag a riddler trophy !

I wanna talk about my pretty boys, been getting into Arkham asylum again so riddlers been on my mind lately.

John is a really complex character that I’ve only touched the surface of, since I’m only on like in the 30s issues I think out of 200. (Skipping some runs due to mischaracterization problems, but when does that not happen in the comic industry.) my favorite thing about him is just how human he feels despite being in a world of Demons and magic and all that stuff. He’s a man you’d probably walk pass on the street none the wiser of, makes me giggle thinking about how the creators of hellblazer think they’ve seen him💔💔 His need to protect humanity despite having negative feelings.

I still absolute adore the family man arc. He cannot kill someone, ever, and when he does it absolute breaks him. Despite the man he killed being a horrible man, taking a humans life is just sickening to him. It makes you see how different they are as people, with the family man taking it away without any care for what he’s doing. Compared to John’s internal monologue and horror. The family man reminded John of his father also hurts so badly. Since despite how also horrible John’s father was to him. John couldn’t bring himself to really want him dead either. All he really wanted was love, shown in a later issue as well. The art is amazing in it and has really grown on me since the first issues, and some panels just really stick with me.

It’s hard for me to talk about him cause I feel like I still need to know more of him, I don’t feel like an expert. Yet what I have seen has really made me love him more and more. Especially since at the start I knew him through DC. Which I’ve heard really butchers his character and goes down the “YOU FELL FOR THE CHARACTER’S FACADE MEANT TO BE DISMANTLED BY THE VIEWER!” Type shit.

For riddler he’s one of those “I NEED LOVE AND ATTENTION” characters that really? Hold onto me? For some reason? Doesn’t help that in most things he’s ginger and I’m into that. I really enjoy his personality in the Arkham series the most however. Despite what people feel on him, and while he is annoying. These riddler trophies will be the death of me. I still absolutely adore doing them just because I get to hear his voice and his dialogue towards Batman. He always sounds so cocky, and as he sees his riddles and trophies get collected he gets more angry. Plus when you go to his page in asylum, you get a little dialogue too, one is him laughing which ooooh boy. If you had seen the pause I had to take because my god.

As the games go on he gets more and more desperate, and starts to take care of himself less. It’s incredibly sad to see, but it fits his character. He wants attention especially from Batman as he projects his father onto him. He wants to prove his father wrong, that he is smart and better than every simpleton in Gotham. Yet he always loses, and that just makes him fall further. If you beat him in knight while not completing the main story. Joker tells you that yeah sure, beat his ass and not get him help. That’s an amazing idea ! Since joker is only in Batman’s head it shows that he does believe Nygma needs help, and wishes he had better ways to do it. Since beating his ass only strengthens Edward’s resolve into beating Batman.

It plagues his mind and becomes all he thinks about. He’s arguably smarter than Batman and yet he doesn’t beat him. Because he wants it to be a show that he was always better. He wants to see Batman admit it, and wants to see Batman try and fail like he has. Thinking about it now it’s like he’s become his father and that makes me even sadder.

Imagine making sure your f/o rests.

Maybe not even specifically going to bed, because often that’s easier said than done. It can be as small as bringing them a hot drink and making sure they take a five minute break from work to drink it with you. If you’re able to, help them out with whatever work or activity they just have to finish. Buying them decaf tea and coffee so it’s easier to get to sleep without sacrificing routine. Just the little things that help so much.
