42.What is their greatest achievement?  Couch surfing at Riario’s for two months.

97.How well do they adapt to change? Better than he gives himself credit for. He’ll always be midly upset by things changing, getting dramatic about how it’s going to suck and there is no way out of this. One day later, he can see things with a cooler head and he works his way through things in order to get his way.

Character Development Questions

7.Is your character an optimist or a pessimist? I want to say a realist, but that’s just another word for pessimist :p She tries to keep a bright and positive outlook on life, even if the situation is dire (she’ll cry or get angry, then collect herself and go deal with the issue).

14.Detail one secret shame your character feels. Probably getting caught eating sweets when she shouldn’t? Or that one time she lied to her grandmother.

22.What is the most beautiful thing they’ve ever seen?  Riario  The sunrise in Forli during winter, when the first rays of sun made the snow glow like a thousand diamonds.

39.What do they think is the worst thing that can be done to a person? Killing them or crippling them emotionnaly to the point they can’t function anymore.

50.How does your character feel about their own mortality? Rather okay? She’s still young, hasn’t been confronted to death a lot and knows she’s wealthy enough to be less likely to die of sickness, so that’s a far off concern for her.

55.Is your character an introvert or an extrovert? More of an extrovert.

62.What sort of legacy does your character wish to leave behind? She gets rather involved in politics and in ruling the towns she owns, so maybe one of an efficient and fair ruler?

74.What is your character’s favorite game? She plays a lot of blind-man fold and hide-and-seek with her siblings. She also loves chess, for the strategy aspect.

83.What is the first thing they say and/or do when they wake up? Kiss Girolamo’s shoulder if he’s still in bed and stroke Odysseus between the ears.

99.Do they talk to inanimate objects? She talks to her plants to help them grow, and to her crystals and books when she’s thinking outloud or wants them to absorb a certain energy.

Primum Sanguis Snippet ~ The Dance

I thought I would share a little something: a ballroom scene, one of my favourites in the WiP so far. Please keep in mind it’s only draft 1.5! The first version can be found here, and there is a small scene with a change of POV here.

For context,  the Duke of Milan is hosting a ball to entertain his guest, Girolamo Riario, who is to marry the Duke’s niece, Costanza Fogliani. But Caterina, the Duke’s daughter, seems to have caught the man’s eye.
