Was out in a forest today for work, and it was quite windy. Needless to say, the experience, the odd eeriness of it, not to mention the creaking of the trees in the heavy gusts, and the fear of having a branch or a whole tree fall, is inevitably making it into Salt and the Sea somewhere. Hopefully.
#Salt and the Sea#theshadowsofthenight speaks#there's still a lot of work to be done but I like adding certain vibes when I can#even if it's just to develop character's relationships#since they're in Scotland I want to devote a chapter to several characters watching the aurora

Fallen in love with this place, this swooningly picturesque gothic ruin, a true green chapel cloaked in ivy, on the hill among the woods.
#salt and the sea inspo#more ruins!#no seriously I need to actually write up some character stuff for the blog and I just keep forgetting or avoiding it 😭

St. Gall Library, Saint Gallen, Switzerland
• It was founded in the 8th century and contains over 170,000 documents, including many rare and valuable manuscripts.
• Nearly half of the handwritten books are from the Middle Ages, and 400 are over 1000 years old!
• The library is also known for its stunning baroque architecture, which was added in the 18th century.
