Ok, I made this little thing and I post it in my Instagram... But after, i wanted post it for here... annnd how the drawing looks good I finally decided for showing of all of you this little drawing of ma big boy asgore.
I painted it with a strange brand of colors that I bought recently, it's not bad, but I don't like it very much either ... I have to save up to buy the premium prismacolor box .... but whatever! •<° I did not come to talk about color markings Xd.
the part I most enjoyed drawing was the shirt ... maybe because of the folds I don't know XD
I wanted to try a lipsync animation, and I happened to be listening to Rewrite the Stars when the inspiration struck! I listen to this song most often when I’m drawing Outertale stuff, and personally, I think James Arthur’s voice suited Grillby better. After listening to this one audio clip on loop, it is very hard to imagine him with any other voice. This is probably the most ambitious animation I’ve made to date, and I kind of regret not doing a practice/study animation of Grillby’s flames before going into this :,) The perfectionist in me came out a lot during the process, but overall, I’m super happy with how this came out! Apologies if the quality of this is kind of grainy, I’m still figuring out the best video programs to use and all that jazz. I can’t wait to dabble with more animation stuff in the future 0v0
Can you show us how are you drawing grillby step by step please? It can be a speed paint too if you want, I'm just trying to draw him and I just can't, I'm so stuck... Thank you for your time 😊
So I made a little doodle page of Grillby and exported the timelapse that Procreate recorded from that! The quality isn’t the best, and the colors are a bit off, but hopefully this helps give an idea of my process! The timelapse is about an hour condensed into just under two minutes.
Here’s the drawing -

It goes a bit fast, but there’s nothing terribly complicated that happens. There’s a small bit at the end that might look like I’m doing nothing. But I’m coloring the lineart on a clipping layer above it. One of my very last steps for drawing Grillby is coloring the lines of his flames. To get that color, I take the darkest color I used for him (the red at the top) then I make it darker and a bit more pink. I find it helps contribute to his light source look. If there’s any specifics you wanted an explanation for, let me know!
