Here’s a link to an interview with Glenn Frey, circa 1985. Kind of interesting how he mentioned a few times that he was trying to reconnect with Don to write songs. 🤔 I wonder if they actually got together back then, and wrote some things that never saw the light of day?

Remember the Eagles box set I bought and reviewed? Well, the price dropped considerably AGAIN on Amazon, so now you can get all 15 records for $139.73. That shakes down to only about $9.32 per record! Not sure why they’re selling it so cheap now, but it would be an awesome Christmas gift for any Eagles fan!

Unboxing: Eagles Legacy Vinyl
You may be asking yourself, “Why show this now? Literally EVERYONE already has this set! It’s been out for a year!” Well... maybe. But I watch a lot of vinyl unboxings on YouTube, and I have yet to see a video about this box set. So I’m choosing to write a post about the unboxing because, a) I’m too ugly to make a video, and b) I’m not too good with extemporaeous speaking, and I’d probably end up fawning over how the cute the guys were for 20 minutes. So here we go.
Tumblr media
Let’s start with the outside. GORGEOUS red marble design with the shiny, metallic lettering. Sturdy, thick slipcase that seems built to last. Also?? Heavy as a motherfucker. Don’t drop this thing on your foot, or you’ll need to go to the hospital.
Tumblr media
Onto the inside! The inner slipcase (also durable) contains two thick “binders” with the records in them, one containing all studio albums, and the other containing live and bonus albums.
Tumblr media
Here is the front cover for the Studio Albums binder. Of course, like past Eagles albums, the skull is incorporated into the art design. This binder contains all their studio albums from Eagles to Long Road Out of Eden.
Tumblr media
This is the second binder, with the live and bonus tracks. It includes Eagles Live, Hell Freezes Over, the Millenium Concert (for the first time on vinyl) and a bonus record of B-sides and bonus tracks. Personally, I like the inclusion of the extra “bonus” disc, but some of the tracks aren’t anything special, as they are “single versions” of studio album songs. Take for example “Lyin’ Eyes,” where the single version was considerably shortened from the original, because the song is over six minutes long. I’d much rather hear the original version, with all the original lyrics. That being said, songs like “Get You in the Mood,” “Hole in the World,” and “Please Come Home for Christmas” are nice additions to this record, because they don’t appear on any of the studio albums. But you know what would have really been awesome? The inclusion of the Hell Freezes Over “Second Night” recordings and outtakes, especially “Peaceful Easy Feeling.” ❤️
Tumblr media
As far as the artwork goes, I will say that this box set is stunning. Each record gets its own monochrome-designed image for its sleeve, and all the records have the uniform “Eagles Legacy” center label. This is also the reason why I will be keeping my prior collection of Eagles albums, because I also love the original artwork. As much as I love the design and cohesiveness of this box set, I think I would have preferred all the albums to be in their original sleeves inside the slipcase. I would hate to miss out on cool bonuses like the poster inside Hotel California!
Tumblr media
Another thing to take note of is how delicate the bindings of the record books are. You can’t open the book completely, or you’ll be left with a giant tear in the binding, like I did here. 😬 The glue comes undone very easily if it’s bent too much, which is odd for a box set of this price point.
Also included is a hardcover book, which was honestly one of the main reasons why I bought this set. It contains quite a few “new” photos from the archives, which were very cool to see!
Tumblr media
I will post more of the photo book photos in a separate post, as this one is getting kind of long. 😂
Since this is the first “anthology” vinyl box set I’ve ever purchased, I guess I don’t have much to compare it to. I also purchased the CD version of the Legacy set a few months back, which also included a DVD of Hell Freezes Over, and a BluRay of the Farewell 1: Live from Melbourne concert. I kind of think that those same things should have been included with the vinyl box, considering that it was originally so much more expensive than the CD version. I also think the booklets between the vinyl and CD editions have different photos in them? But I may have to go back and check on that.
All in all, this is obviously the box set you want to get if you’re an Eagles completist, or just want to own all of their stuff (well, almost) on vinyl. There was a box set released a few years ago that only included the studio albums, so this second set with all the live stuff included is a nice upgrade. I didn’t think I’d be one of those fans that would repurchase something just because it was released in different packaging, but here I am. 😂 It was an impulse buy (as most Eagles-merch related things are) on Amazon, and right now it’s priced around $178. That’s quite a discount, considering that the Eagles official website is still marketing it at $349. 😱 At the amazon price point, it shakes down to about $12 per record, which isn’t bad at all, considering that most new vinyl these days goes for $20 and up. I have yet to listen to the records, but I’ll be sure to write another review when I do! :)

👏 👏 👏 Got my tickets to the Saturday show. They were pretty pricey, but I know they’ll be worth it! Perhaps I’ll try going to Friday’s show as well, if the tickets are cheap enough. We shall see.
The presale for the Eagles show I want to go to in St. Paul starts tomorrow morning. I’m hoping to get some good seats at a (fairly) reasonable price, so wish me luck! I had hoped that I’d be able to go to both St. Paul shows, but with the ticket prices as high as they are, I think I’ll stick with one. 😬 Oh well, it’ll be an amazing show I’m sure. Best of luck to anyone out there looking to get tickets, too!

Eagles: “this may be our final tour...”
Me: *cries*
Eagles: *announce a tour date near me*
Me: *looks at credit card*
Me: “lets take it to the limit... one more time.”
